Abstract

. This study aims to determine the effect of using number train media on the early numeracy skills of children aged 5–6 years at the Pilarin Kindergarten (TKK). The sample in this study was 23 children in Group B. This study used an experimental design with a One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. Data analysis techniques in this study consisted of prerequisite tests and hypothesis tests. The prerequisite tests conducted were normality tests and homogeneity tests. The hypothesis test used was a Paired Sample t-test. The data from this study were analyzed using SPSS Version 27. The results of this study indicate that the use of number train media in the learning process can improve early numeracy skills in early childhood. This is supported by the results of the Paired Sample t-test hypothesis test, which obtained an Asymp.Sig. (2-tailed) value of <0.001, less than 0.05. Therefore, H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. This indicates that the use of number train media on the early numeracy skills of children aged 5–6 years at the Pilarin Kindergarten. Keywords: Media, number train, early numeracy, early childhood, TKK Pilarin Kupang

Abstract

Early literacy ability to recognize letters is one of the crucial developmental aspects that needs to be stimulated from an early age. This study aims to determine the effect of using Wordwall media on the literacy ability to recognize letters of children aged 5-6 years at TK Kristen Silo. This study used a quantitative experimental approach with a one group pretest-posttest design. The population consisted of 25 children at TK Kristen Silo, and purposive sampling was used to select 14 children aged 5-6 years with low letter recognition ability as the sample. Data were collected using an oral test instrument covering eight literacy indicators and analyzed using the Paired Sample T-Test with SPSS. The results showed that the mean posttest score (27.00) was significantly higher than the mean pretest score (21.86), with an increase of 5.14 points. The hypothesis test yielded t-value of 6.564 > t-table 2.160 with significance value of 0.001 < 0.05, leading to the rejection of H₀ and acceptance of Hₐ. It is concluded that the use of Wordwall media has a significant effect on improving the literacy ability to recognize letters in children aged 5-6 years at TK Kristen Silo.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of teachers in enhancing the creativity of early childhood Group B at Tat Twam Asi Kindergarten, Maulafa District, Kupang City. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The subjects in this study were two class B teachers, and the validity of the data was tested through source technical triangulation. The results of the study show that teachers play a role through four aspects, namely as facilitators, mediators, inspirators, and models. (1) As facilitators, teachers prepare RPPH, learning media, loose part materials, and organize a learning environment that is safe and support children's exploration. (2) As mediators, teachers use stories, songs, imaginative games, and media that are appropriate to the theme and characteristics of children. (3) As inspirators, teachers provide praise, encouragement, and a comfortable learning atmosphere so that children dare to try new things. (4) As models, teachers provide direct examples in learning activities, making it easier for children to understand the steps involved and encouraging them to create. The conclusion of this study is that the teacher's role when effectively implemented through interconnected practices can help enhance the creativity of early childhood learners. However, initial observations also revealed that some children's creativity has not yet developed optimally; therefore, the teacher's role is crucial in creating learning experiences that are meaningful, varied, enjoyable, and child centered. Abstract

This study aims to describe the efforts of implementing letter card game media to improve letter recognition skills in Group B children at TK Aisyiyah Bustanul Athfal III. The main problems focused on are children who have not yet recognized letters and those who have difficulty arranging letters. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through interviews, observation, and documentation. Data validity was ensured through technique triangulation. Data analysis used the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The subjects of this study were all Group B teachers at TK Aisyiyah Bustanul Athfal III who directly stimulate children's letter recognition abilities. The results show that children's letter recognition skills have developed, as indicated by their improved ability to recognize, name, distinguish, and match letters. The implementation of letter card game media also helps create an interesting and enjoyable leaming atmosphere for children. In improving children's letter recognition skills, teachers undertake several efforts: (1) introducing letters through letter card games by showing the cards and explaining the shape and name of the letters; (2) guiding children to pronounce and repeat letters to facilitate memory and recognition; (3) inviting children to match letter cards with appropriate pictures or symbols to help them understand the relationship between letters and their meanings, (4) providing opportunities for children to play and interact directly with the letter cards to increase their activity and involvement, and (5) providing reinforcement and motivation during activities to build children's confidence in recognizing and naming letters. Abstract

Listening skill is one of the important aspects of early childhood language development. Based on preliminary observations at TK Kristen Citra Bangsa Mandiri Kupang, the listening ability of children aged 5–6 years had not developed optimally. This study aimed to determine the effect of using hand puppet media on the listening ability of children aged 5–6 years at TK Kristen Citra Bangsa Mandiri Kupang. This research employed a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental method using a One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The sample consisted of 10 children selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through observation and documentation. The data were analyzed using the Paired Sample t-test. The results showed that the use of hand puppet media had a significant effect on children's listening ability. This was indicated by an increase in the mean score from 12.3 in the pretest to 17.9 in the posttest, with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of hand puppet media significantly improves the listening ability of children aged 5–6 years. Hand puppet media can attract children's attention, helping them focus, understand instructions, answer questions, and retell information received during the learning process.
