Abstract

ABSTRACT The background of the problem in this study is that tutors in class XI mathematics subjects still use conventional learning processes and methods lacking variation. The purpose of this study is to determine the influence between the competence of tutors and the learning outcomes of citizens learning equivalence package C class XI in mathematics subjects. The method in this study is quantitative with a simple linear regression test. The population in this study amounted to 72 residents learning class XI on the equivalence of package C with a sample of as much as the population because it used nonprobability sampling techniques. Hypothesis testing uses simple linear regression analysis. Based on the results of the normality test 0.018>0.05 means that the tutor's competence with the learning outcomes of learning residents is normally distributed and for the linearity test 0.759 >0.05 it means that there is a relationship between the competence of tutors and the learning outcomes of learning residents. Based on the results of a simple linear regression test, the tutor's competence had a very small influence on the results of learning students, which proved to be negative, namely -54,117. Tutor competence gets an average score of 89, meaning that the contribution of the influence of tutor competence on the learning outcomes of learning residents is 8.92% and the remaining 91.05% is influenced by other variables that were not studied in this study.

Abstract

This study examines the role of learning motivation as a mediating variable in the relationship between the family environment and the phenomenon of school dropout in the Indonesian-Timor Leste border area. A quantitative approach was used as the explanatory research method. The population in this study comprised high school/vocational school students who dropped out of school in the Malacca Regency, East Nusa Tenggara. A sample of 120 respondents from 12 sub-districts was obtained through proportional sampling techniques. Data collection was carried out through questionnaires and data analysis using Path Analysis with the help of the SPSS 27. The results showed that family environment had a significant effect on learning motivation, with a score of 9.676 and a significance value of 0.001. Family environment had a significant effect on school dropouts, which was calculated to be 4.312 and a significance value of 0.001. Learning motivation had a significant effect on school dropouts, with a score of 4.465 and significance value of 0.001. Learning motivation was able to mediate the influence of the family environment on school dropouts, with an indirect effect of -1,048, and the Sobel test score = 12,467 > t table = 1,658; thus, the mediation was significant. This study concluded that a positive family environment can increase learning motivation and indirectly reduce the risk of dropping out of school. These findings have important implications for education policies in border areas.

Abstract

This study is motivated by persistently high dropout rate at senior high school level in the border region between Indonesia and Timor-Leste. The school participation rate at this level reaches only 60.42%, indicating that 39.58% of students do not continue or complete their education. The purpose of this study is to examine the influence of family environment and peer on the tendency to drop out of school, as well as to evaluate the moderating role of learning motivation in these relationships. This research employed a quantitative approach using an explanatory survey method. The study population included all high school dropouts across 12 sub-districts in Malaka Regency. A proportional sampling technique was applied, resulting in a total sample of 180 dropout students. Data were collected using a questionnaire with a five-point Likert scale. The data were analyzed using multiple regression analysis and Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA) with the assistance of SPSS version 27. The results of the study showed that the family environment and peer have a significant negative effect on school dropout. Learning motivation significant moderates, the relationship between the family environment, peers and school dropout. In conclusion, both the family environment and peer groups significantly influence school dropout rates in border areas, while learning motivation serves as a protective factor that can mitigate these effects. Therefore, efforts to enhance students’ learning motivation may be an effective strategy to reduce dropout rates in such regions.

Abstract

Abundant natural resources cannot be utilized properly for the needs of the surrounding community, so learning efforts are needed to manage the potential of natural resources owned through empowering the community. The purpose of this research is to find out how Jim Ife's theory of community empowerment is applied to community empowerment programs through farmer groups. This study used a qualitative case study approach with the research subject being the head of the Farmers' Group, members of the Farmers' Group and Agricultural Extension Officers of the Farmer's Group. Data collection was carried out by interview and observation techniques. The results showed that the process of community empowerment through the Farmer Group program can be said to be quite good in terms of applying the community empowerment perspective according to Jim Ife, in the Tnao Mat farmer group there is a community empowerment program, namely meetings between field agricultural extension workers and members of farmer groups, where there is counseling, socialization and training on agriculture that helps farming communities manage their natural resources. The end result of the empowerment program is that members of farmer groups are able to independently improve their quality of life and no longer depend on community empowerment program activities being held, especially helping them find solutions/problem solving to the social problems they face.
