Abstract

Kelangkaan pupuk menjadi polemic yang ada di masyarakat Desa Inrello, Kecamatan Keera, Kabupaten Wajo, disisi lain sumber daya alam tersedia melimpah yang dapat diolah dan dimanfaatkan sebagai subsisdi tambahan/pupuk organic untuk usahatani masyarakat seperti tanaman padi. Salah satu tanaman yang memiliki kandungan nitrogen tinggi adalah tanaman Gamal yang banyak ditemui dilokasi pengabdian. Tujuan pengabdian ini adalah untuk mengedukasi masyarakat mengolah limbah menjadi pupuk cair. Metode yang digunakan dalam pengabdian ini adalah sosialisasi dan penyuluhan. Dimana kegiatan ini dilaksanakan melalui 3 tahapan yaitu tahap persiapan, tahap pelaksanaan penyuluhan, dan tahap evaluasi. Hasil pengabdian kepada masyarakat yang telah dilaksanakan adalah petani mampu mengolah limbah pertanian dan limbah rumah tangga menjadi pupuk organic cair.

Abstract

Usahatani jagung merupakan salah satu usaha yang dikembangkan oleh masyarakat di Kelurahan Wiringpalennae Kecamatan Tempe Kabupaten Wajo. Usaha ini menjadi salah satu usaha turun temurun yang ada di masyarakat dan menjadi subsektor dalam mendukung peningkatan penghasilan masyarakat setempat. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi pendapatan petani Jagung di Kelurahan Wiringpalannae Kecamatan Tempe Kabupaten Wajo. Metode penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif, pelaksanaannya dengan teknik analisis data kuantitatif. Metode penentuan responden dilakukan dengan menggunakan purposive sampling dengan jumlah responden sebanyak 8 responden. Data yang digunakan adalah data primer dan data sekunder. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan wawancara, observasi, pengamatan pribadi dan kuesioner. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa faktor-faktor yang berdampak nyata terhadap penghasilan petani jagung ialah umur, total tanggungan rumah tangga, dan pengeluaran alat produksi. Corn farming is one of the businesses developed by the community in Wiringpalennae Village, Tempe District, Wajo Regency. This business is one of the hereditary businesses that exist in the community and becomes a subsector in supporting the increase in the income of the local community. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors that influence the income of corn farmers in Wiringpalannae Village, Tempe District, Wajo Regency. This research method is a descriptive method, its implementation using quantitative data analysis techniques. The method of determining respondents was done by using purposive sampling with a total of 8 respondents. The data used are primary data and secondary data. Data collection techniques were carried out by interview, observation, personal observation and questionnaires. The results showed that the factors that had a significant impact on the income of corn farmers were age, total household dependents, and expenditure on production equipment.

Abstract

This study aims to determine several genotypes of upright leaf-type maize with high production, in addition to knowing the genotypic characters obtained from the selection of upright leaf-type corn with closer spacing. The study was arranged as an experiment using a randomized block design (RBD) with the treatment of types of corn resulting from crosses. There were 6 genotypes tested, namely SU1, SU2, SU3, SU4, SU5, SU6, and 2 control genotypes namely SU7 (variety RK75) and SU8 (variety RK457). Genotypes were tested based on agronomic characteristics and yield. The results showed that the production of the tested and the control genotypes were not significantly different. However, the highest average production was found in the comparison genotype, especially the RK457 variety, which was 7.49 t/ha. The results of the selection of agronomic characters stated that the genotypes tested and the control genotypes showed no significantly different results on the characters of plant height, cob height, leaf length, leaf width, and leaf angle but significantly different on the stem diameter character. Genotype SU5 had an average stem diameter of 20.75 mm, not significantly different from genotype SU6 (18.95mm), RK457 (19.24 mm), and RK75 (17.79 mm). However, it was significantly different from the genotypes SU1 (16.35 mm), SU2 (14.40 mm), SU3 (16.05 mm), and SU4 (16.93 mm). The selection results for yield characteristics stated that the tested and control genotypes did not have significantly different characters.

Abstract

Maize is an important crop in Indonesia that is utilized for food, feed, and industry. Waterlogging is one of the abioticstresses challenging maize production in recent years due to climate changes. Vegetative-phase screening methods may benefitplant breeding programs because potential genotypes can be identified at earlier stage with lower cost. This study consistedof two experiments. The first experiment was carried out at the Sawah Baru experimental station of Bogor AgriculturalUniversity (IPB), Bogor, from June to September 2017 using an alpha lattice design with three replications and four blockswithin each replication. The second experiment conducted in a greenhouse at Cikabayan experimental station of IPB, Bogor,from December 2017 to January 2018 using a randomized complete block design with three replications. Genetic materialused were 21 maize genotypes from the Indonesia Cereal Research Institute (ICERI) and IPB, including 19 hybrids and 2inbred lines. The results showed that the dry root weight under normal conditions had significant positive correlation withgrain yield under waterlogging stress, and therefore is potential for early screening. Adaptive genotypes in waterloggingstress selected based on dry root weight are DKLx30, DKLx11, MGoldx37, MGOldx41, and IPB L15-1xMR14. Predictedmean yield across these genotypes was 0.57 ton ha-1 higher yield than the overall mean in waterlogging stress condition.Selected hybrids can be further evaluated for variety release.
