Abstract

This research seeks to identify the potential of local community to support the development of productive landscape in Yogyakarta City. It hypothesizes the important roles of ecological perception, aesthetical perception, economics perception of productive plant, social-cultural perception, the role of social organization and the status of house ownership that would assist productive landscape development. This paper contributes to the importance of productive landscape development through community participation. The road/street location was chosen with purposive sampling by considering the characteristics of the arterial roads and local streets. Five arterial roads and five local streets were determined as the locations. The field survey method, with semi-structured questionnaires, was employed to obtain the primary data. The residences in arterial roads and local streets were selected by the linear systematic random sampling and the respondents participating in this study were 160 persons.  The results have shown that the perception of residents depends on the experiences of their situation. The majority of residents have disclosed the low response on economical perception of productive landscape development in the greenery. The development of productive landscape is influenced by the ecological, aesthetical and socio-cultural perceptions of the residents living nearby the arterial roads. Meanwhile, the residents of local streets have a different perception of productive landscape development, which is influenced by ecological and aesthetical perceptions. The collaboration between government and community should be made to develop the efforts to grow and manage the vegetations along the roadsides of the city.

Abstract

Tourism sector plays an important role in increasing the country's foreign exchange and promoting the creation of jobs to improve the economy. In this context, community organizations manage tourism sites, and the leaders are tasked with directing members to achieve common objectives. An important tourist site is Open Pit Nam Salu Geosite and participation is relatively low since people depend on illegal tin mining. Village government and community organizations are less assertive in overcoming the problems. Therefore, this research aims to analyze development model for increasing participation in tourism management of Open Pit Nam Salu Geosite in Senyubuk Village, Kelapa Kampit District. The location determination was carried out purposively, with 87 respondents selected by cluster sampling method through the PLS test. The results showed an indirect effect of community capital and leadership on participation through group roles. Meanwhile, leadership promoted participation since community capital and group roles served as mediator variables. Pokdarwis and village government were also strengthened in organizing community to maximize the potential of capital in the region and mobilize BAPOPNAS group to manage tourism daily.

Abstract

This study investigates the psychological impact of farmers’ sentiments on land conversion associated with the national strategic project for constructing the Solo-Yogyakarta toll road, focusing on the asset aspects of farmers’ families. Employing descriptive and survey approaches, supplemented by in-depth interviews to enhance the research design, the study utilized a random sampling method with a proportional cluster, encompassing a sample size of 258 participants. Data collection was conducted through questionnaires, and analysis involved cross-tabulation and chi-square descriptive analysis to examine relationships between factors. The findings reveal that farmers experience psychological distress, particularly sadness, due to the change in land use and the option to sell their land. Farmers’ attitudes toward compensation procedures were generally neutral. Overall, the study highlights the significant psychological impact of land conversion, predominantly manifesting as sadness among farmers. The research underscores the need for policy development to establish support programs by relevant entities, ensuring that compensation funds are effectively utilized to generate new income sources for the affected farmers.

Abstract

Abstract

The role of women from small farming families in utilizing surrounding resources to preserve local food is an important issue to study. This study aims to (1) analyze the role of members in groups which include task roles, maintenance roles, and blocking roles, and to (2) analyze the factors influencing group role. This research uses a quantitative descriptive method. Data were collected from 31 respondents selected by the census from the Desa Prima members in Sambirejo, Ngawen, Gunungkidul. Data are analyzed using multiple regression with SPSS. In-depth interviews with group leaders and group member representatives were also conducted to explain cases in roles distribution in Desa Prima. The results showed that task role significantly positively affected the group's enhancement in developing local foods. The group has a clear task distribution so that all works can be completed properly. The role of members as blocking roles is rare and does not have much impact on group dynamics since the members can understand each other. The role of members in how well they can complete the tasks needs to be maintained so that they can still be responsible for completing their tasks properly although some members also have side jobs. Thus, it is necessary to divide the tasks along with a clear timeline. To increase the independence of the home industry, obstacles in the management and processing of local foods should be overcome through increasing the group role.

Abstract

The digital transformation of auction market management plays a crucial role in addressing the high volume of chili peppers and mitigating potential inefficiencies and inaccuracies in operational processes. However, several challenges persist in implementing this transformation. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the process of transitioning auction market management from conventional to digital. Using a descriptive qualitative methodology, insights were obtained from auction market managers representing five distinct groups in Kulon Progo Regency. Data collection methods included focus group discussions (FGDs), observation, and in-depth interviews. The results showed varying levels of readiness for digital adoption across the markets, with Tani Rejo Auction Market leading in digital technology utilization. Key factors influencing the pace and success of this transformation included institutional dynamics, leadership capabilities, and human resource preparedness. However, persistent farmers perceptions regarding the potential adverse impacts of digital pricing on livelihoods remained a barrier. This study outlined a phased transformation process, comprising initial communication, goal setting, system analysis, implementation of digital applications, training, socialization, evaluation, and follow-up. In addition, support from stakeholders, particularly the Agriculture Office and Bank Indonesia (BI), was identified as crucial in facilitating farmers and traders through the digitalization process, typically improving market efficiency and benefiting all stakeholders.

Abstract

Community-based tourism (CBT) provides a framework for sustainable tourism by ensuring that development benefits the community while preserving cultural and natural resources. This study aimed to analyze the sustainability of the Open Pit Nam Salu Geosite in East Belitung by applying a CBT framework and examining the direct and indirect effects of group roles, natural capital, and community motivation. The research was conducted in Senyubuk Village using a quantitative approach with 87 respondents selected through cluster sampling. Data were analyzed using SEM-PLS. Results show that group roles had the strongest direct effect on tourism sustainability (? = 0.306, p = 0.009), followed by community motivation (? = 0.269, p = 0.014). Natural capital did not significantly influence sustainability directly, but exerted an indirect effect through community motivation (? = 0.141, p = 0.053). Group roles also contributed indirectly through natural capital and community motivation (? = 0.098, p = 0.060). These findings indicate that CBT at Open Pit Nam Salu has not yet been implemented optimally, as participation remains limited. Strengthening BAPOPNAS’s task roles, enhancing community involvement, and transforming natural capital into motivational drivers are key strategies to ensure sustainable post-mining tourism development
