Abstract

The research was conducted at the Tobelo coastal fishing port, North Halmahera Regency, for one month, namely in November 2020. The research method used was a case study. The condition of the existence of basic facilities at PPP Tobelo, namely the length of the pier having a capacity of 80.00 m, an area of the port pool of 100 m2, the depth of the pier waters -5.00. The existing condition of functional facilities is an ice factory consisting of 2 units (each with a capacity of 5 tonnes a day), ABF consisting of 2 units (each with a capacity of 5 tonnes / 24 hours) and cold storage consisting of 2 units (each with a capacity of 50 tonnes). The utilization rate of the length of the pier and port pond exceeds the optimal limit of the installed capacity, then the utilization rate of the depth of the pier waters, ice factory, air blast freezer, and cold storage is not optimal.

Abstract

Based on initial information from fishermen and fish buyers that the fulfillment of the needs for ice blocks and fuel oil for fishermen to go to sea at the Goto Fish Landing Base (PPI) is experiencing problems. The port has not been able to meet the demand for ice blocks and fuel oil (BBM) so fishermen have to buy from outside the port. In order to optimally serve the needs of users at PPI Goto City, Tidore Islands, it is necessary to improve cold chain facilities and SPDN supported by scientific studies on the status of facility utilization and user satisfaction levels. This study aims to analyze the level of utilization and satisfaction of cold chain facilities and SPDN users at PPI Goto, Tidore Islands City. The research was conducted at PPI Goto City, Tidore Islands, for 3 months, from February to April. Field data collection for 1 week, on March 2-9, 2021. The research uses the case study method. The results showed that the ice factory facilities could not serve the needs of fishermen because they were in a damaged condition as well as the SPDN facilities could not serve the needs of fishermen because there was no fuel supply from Pertamina. All stakeholders (masters, fishermen, and entrepreneurs who buy fish) expressed dissatisfaction with the service of ice factory facilities and SPDN, while for ABF and cold storage facilities, respondents stated that they were very satisfied.

Abstract

The use of yellowfin tuna in the waters of Bacan Island uses hand line fishing gear with FAD catching tools. The fishing port that is used as a landing place for the catch and the fishing base of the fishing fleets is the Bacan Coastal Fishing Port (PPP). Increasing the catch of fishermen depends on the use of production inputs. This is because the influence of production inputs is needed so that the fishing business runs optimally with the use of effective and efficient production inputs so as to increase the catch and income of fishermen. Therefore, the research was designed with the aim of evaluating the performance of the yellowfin tuna hand line fishery business which includes technical, biological, and economic aspects. The research has been carried out at PPP Bacan, for 3 months in 2021. The research uses the descriptive surev method. The results showed that the fishing gear used to catch yellowfin tuna in the waters of Bacan Island was hand line and the location of the catch was in the FAD area. The trend of catch production, fleet productivity, and FAD productivity for 5 years (2016-2020) is increasing. This fishing business is profitable and deserves to be continued. The profit value of the yellowfin tuna hand line fishing business in one year is IDR. 34,328,600.00, Net B/C ratio 1.13, IRR 33%, BEP IDR. 393,263,399.97, and PP 3.28 years. 99.96, and PP 2.86 years.

Abstract

The pole and line fishery business at the Dufa-Dufa fish landing base (PPI) in Ternate City generally uses FADs. Based on information from fishermen, the type of fishing gear has developed relatively quickly to become semi-industrial, as indicated by the increase in fishing capacity (vessel size and engine power included) and the expansion of fishing areas, as well as the use of FADs. This is because the influence of production inputs is needed so that the fishing effort runs optimally. The effective and efficient use of production inputs can increase the catch and income of fishermen. Therefore, the research was designed with the aim of evaluating the performance of the pole and line fishery business which includes technical, biological, and economic aspects. The research was carried out at PPI Dufa-Dufa, from June to July 2021. The study used a descriptive survey method. The results showed that the fishing gear used to catch skipjack tuna, yellowfin tuna and tuna in the Ternate City waters was the pole and line. The trend of catch production, fleet productivity, and FAD productivity for 5 years (2016-2020) is increasing. This fishing business is profitable and deserves to be continued. Financially (profits) and investment (Net B/C, IRR, BEP, and PP) the pole and lien fishery business based at PPI Dufa-Dufa is profitable and feasible to operate throughout the year with a profit value ranging from IDR. 436,576,400,000-498,528,000.00, the value of B/C ratiao 1.01-1.39, IRR 32%-38%, BEP IDR. 2,805,673,599.97-3,247,175,999.96, and PP 2.43-3.03 years.

Abstract

Fulfilling the need for ice blocks and fuel oil (BBM) for going to sea is also experiencing problems. The port has not been able to meet the demand for ice blocks and fuel, so fishermen still have to buy it from outside the port. In order to optimally serve the needs of users at PPN Ternate, a scientific study is needed regarding strategies for developing cold chain facilities and fishermen's public fuel filling stations (SPBUN) PPN Ternate. This research aims to develop a strategy for developing cold chain facilities (ice factory, ABF, and cold storage) and SPBUN at the Ternate archipelago fishing port. The research was carried out at PPN Ternate, North Maluku Province, from May - June 2023. Field data was collected for 2 weeks, namely 15-29 May 2023. This research used the case method. The results of the research show that the level of utilization of the ice factory (100.72%), cold storage (112.74%), and SPBUN (diesel 101.53%) has exceeded the optimal limit, while for pertalite and kerosene it requires distribution from Pertamina (pertalite 8 .50 KL/month, and kerosene 13.17 KL/month), while the air blast freezer (ABF) is not optimal (71.31%). The strategy for developing cold chain facilities and public fuel filling stations for fishermen at PPN Ternate includes: (1) Improving the quality of service at PPN Ternate; (2) Increasing cooperation indeveloping cold chain facilities and SPBUN at PPN Ternate; (3) Development of an integrated cold chain; and (4) Improvement of public fuel filling station (SPBUN) facilities for fishermen
