Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah menganalisis dan mendeskripsikan indikator kemampuan Algebraic Reasoning dalam menyelesaikan permasalahan Program Linear. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif. Tujuan pemilihan pendekatan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan hasil penelitian terkait kemampuan Algebraic Reasoning mahasiswa, dan dianalisis lebih lanjut mengenai kesalahan-kesalahan yang dilakukan dalam penyelesaian soal tersebut terkait indikator kemampuan Algebraic Reasoning.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 61,25% mahasiswa belum bisa menggunakan simbol atau variabel untuk mendesain objek dalam hal ini adalah melakukan pemodelan. Sedangkan pada tahap internal, 52,5% mahasiswa sudah dapat melakukan penyelesaian dengan menggunakan operasi aritmatika dan hubungan kesetaraan. Sebesar 82,5% mahasiswa belum mampu melakukan tahapan berpikir aritmatik yaitu menghubungkan sesuatu yang tidak pasti dengan objek dasar aljabar seperti yang tidak diketahui, variabel maupun parameter.

Abstract

The material for the polyhedron is a primary subject for mathematics that students must learn at the semester VIII junior high school level. However, the reality in the field is that studying the material is still considered difficult by students. Many students have some problems in solving the Higher Order Thinking Skill (HOTS) questions of the material. This research was conducted to examine the factors that cause student errors in answering the HOTS questions on the polyhedron. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative with research subjects is the IX grade students of SMP Negeri 02 Cipongkor, with a sample from IX-F students, 11 boys, and 17 girls. The data analysis technique used in this research is to analyze the factors that cause student errors in solving the test questions of the data sharing materials and then calculate the percentage score for each question and interpretation based on Arikunto understanding criteria. Based on the results of the study, it was found that the factors that caused student errors in solving the problem were: 1) Students had difficulty in solving problems at the re-examination stage because students could not prove the truth of the answers they had obtained; 2) lack of accuracy in interpreting problems and writing formulas; 3) lack of understanding of prerequisite material; 4) difficulty in determining the length of the cube and cuboid edges; 5) difficulty in calculating the volume and surface area of a trapezoidal prism.

Abstract

This article aims to describe the results of the analysis of the difficulties of class X SMK students in Bandung City in solving the question of the sequence and series material. This type of research is a case study. The subjects of this study were 36 students of class X SMK Kencana Bandung. The research instrument consisted of 5 questions in the sequence and series material test. The data analysis technique used is the data collection technique with the documentation method in the form of student test results in sequence and series. The results showed that only question number 4 had the percentage of mastery of the material below 75%, it could be said that some students still had difficulty solving question number 4 which had indicators of evaluating sequence and series. From the results of the analysis, it was concluded that the difficulty of X SMK students in solving the sequence and series problems lies in the indicators of evaluating sequences and series, that is: (1) Students have difficulty applying the formula for the n-syllable of an arithmetic sequence; (2) Students have difficulty identifying important information from artithmetic sequence story questions and (3) Students find it difficult to describe the formula for the n-syllable of arithmetic sequence to get the first syllable.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan berpikir  kritis matematis dan kepercayaan diri siswa SMP. Untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut diperlukan salah  satu  pendekatan  pembelajaran  yang  diharapkan  mampu  mengembangkan kemampuan berpikir kritis matematis dan kepercayaan diri siswa  adalah pendekatan open ended. Melalui pembelajaran ini, siswa terlibat langsung dan belajar mengeluarkan ide-ide dalam menyelesaikan soal-soal bersifat open ended, sehingga membangkitkan minat siswa untuk aktif selama proses pembelajaran. Diharapkan melalui pembelajaran ini, siswa menjadi termotivasi, ulet dan bersungguh-sungguh dalam memahami matematika sehingga dapat meningkatkan kepercayaan diri siswa. Bentuk luaran dari penelitian ini berupa produk bahan ajar bersifat open ended yang dapat dimanfaatkan oleh guru dalam pembelajaran. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah quasi experimental dengan bentuk desain Nonequivalent Control Group Design, dimana subyek penelitian tidak dikelompokkan secara acak. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa SMP kota Cimahi, sedangkan sampelnya SMP Taruna Mandiri kemudian diambil dua kelas secara acak kelas, diperoleh kelas 7B sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas 7C sebagai kelas kontrol. Pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini berupa tes sebanyak 5 soal uraian kemampuan berpikir Kritis dan 20 butir soal skala sikap kepercayaan diri dalam belajar matematika, kemudian data tersebut dianalisis dengan statistik deskriptif dan inferensial dengan menggunakan uji perbedaan dua rata-rata. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, baik dari hasil analisis data maupun pengujian hipotesis, maka penulis menyimpulkan bahwa peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis dan pencapaian kepercayaan diri dalam belajar matematik siswa yang pembelajarannya menggunakan pendekatan open-ended lebih baik daripada pendekatan konvensional. Kata kunci:           Kemampuan  Berpikir Kritis matematis, Kepercayaan Diri, Pendekatan Open Ended

Abstract

Research a This n focuses on the effect of using Google Sites-based teaching materials in improving students' mathematical understanding of data presentation learning materials. The research subjects were taken from 30 class VII students at SMPN 15 Cimahi. Teaching Materials are designed using ICT media based on Google Sites. The results of this study indicate that the use of teaching materials can improve students' mathematical understanding, this is indicated by an increase in the average value of students' mathematical understanding before the use of teaching materials, which is equal to 26,633 and after the use of teaching materials that is equal to82,10. In addition, the results of this study indicate that there is an effect of the use of teaching materials on increasing students' understanding of the material for presenting the data, this is based on the results of the calculation of the t-sample test related to the analysis of paired-sample T-test two-sided test obtained tcount = 19.851 and ttable = 2.04523 for a significant level of 5% with df = 29, where 19.851 ≥ 2.04523.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of contextual learning on the mathematical critical thinking skills of class X students when using the Three Variable Linear Equation System (SPLTV) material. This research method uses the experimental method. The research location is SMA Negeri 1 Cililin in the odd semester of the 2022/2023 academic year. Class X students of SMA Negeri 1 Cililin constituted the study population, while the entire study sample consisted of two randomly selected classes, an experimental class and a control class. Instruments in the form of tests of critical thinking skills have been used to collect research data. Data on the results of the mathematical critical thinking test were then analyzed using descriptive statistics and independent statistics using the Mann-Whitney test because the data did not follow a normal distribution. Based on the findings of this study, contextual learning on SPLTV material is better than conventional teaching methods.

Abstract

This research was motivated by junior high school students lack of interest in learning mathematics subjetcs, so their mathematical understanding abilities tend to be low. The aim of this research was to find out how much influence the use of statistical material learning media using a Scratch-assisted scientific approach has on the mathematical understanding abilities of junior high school students. The subjects in this research were 26 class VIII students at SMP Negeri 15 Cimahi who were selected using a purposive sampling technique. In this research, the method used was an experimental method with a one group pretest-posttest design. Meanwhile, the data analysis technique used is quantitative descriptive which is then processed using Microsoft Excel 2013. After the test was carried out, there was an increase in the students average score. Before reciving treatment, the average learning outcome was 46,15, after reciving treatment, the average increased to 86,15. Apart from that, the number of students whose scores reached the KKM also increased. This proves that the use of Scratch-assisted learning media in statistics material has a great influence on junior high school students mathematical understanding abilities.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to examine the effect of using Liveworksheets-based teaching materials in improving mathematical problem solving abilities in statistics material for class VIII junior high school students. The research method used is descriptive qualitative method. The research subjects for this study were class VIII students at SMPN 15 Cimahi consisting of 25 students. The results of this research show that the use of Liveworksheets based teaching materials can improve mathematical problem solving abilities, as evidenced by the average increase in students' mathematical problem solving ability tests before the use of the teaching materials demonstrated, which is equal to 27.20 and after use, teaching materials equivalent to 70.00. Not only that, this study influences students' mathematical problem solving abilities, seen from the results of the t-sample test calculation related to the paired-sample T-test analysis of the two-sided test. The values ​​obtained are tcount = 13,833 and ttable = 1.7109 for a significance level of 5% with df = 24, where 13.833 ≥ 1.7109.

Abstract

This research aims to see the improvement in mathematical problem solving abilities of class VII middle school students through the Discovery Learning Learning Model assisted by animated videos. This research is experimental research.   The population in this study were class VII students, while the sample was students from class VII A as the experimental class and VII B as the control class at SMP IT Al-ajwa Al-Islamy. This research uses the Nonequivalent Pretest-Posttest Control Group Design research design. The research instrument used was an essay question with a total of 7 questions.  The data obtained will be analyzed and processed using a 2 independent sample test using a normality test, a homogeneity test first as a prerequisite and followed by a t-test.  The results of hypothesis testing using the Independent Sample T-Test show that the significant value is 0.000 ≤ 0.05, so is rejected.  So, it can be concluded that the Discovery Learning Model assisted by animated videos to improve the mathematical problem solving abilities of Al-Ajwa Al-Islamy IT Middle School students is better and has increased.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the importance of students’ mathematical connection abilities and self-confidence in learning mathematics. Mathematical connection ability is an important factor in understanding mathematical concepts. The aim of this research is to analyze the level of students’ mathematical connection abilities and junior high school students’ self-confidence. The method used in this research is a descriptive-qualitative method. The research subjects were 37 students in class VIII-C of SMPN 3 Margahayu. The instruments used were four items of mathematical connection test material on the System of Two-Variable Linear Equations and non-tests of students’ confidence in learning mathematics. The results of the analysis show that the average score of all mathematical connection ability test questions in indicator 1 using relationships between mathematical topics is 5%, indicator 2 is understanding equivalent representations of the same concept (36%), indicator 3 uses mathematics in everyday life (52%), and indicator 4 uses mathematics in other subjects (27%). So the average is 30%. So the students’ mathematical connection ability is included in the low category. Most students are unable to solve problems with indicators using relationships between mathematical topics. This is shown by the results of the mathematical connection ability test; students did not connect optimally. But in learning mathematics, students already have good self-confidence.
