Abstract

The purpose in this research is examine and describe the relationship between self-concept with students' mathematical creative thinking ability. The method used is descriptive with correlation technique. The population this research is all students of class VII MTSN 4 West Bandung academic year 2017/2018. The samples used were chosen by purposive sampling as many as 35 students. The data collected are test results of mathematical creative ability and questionnaires about self-concept. The instrument used consists of 5 questions of creative thinking ability in the form of a description and 24 statements about student self-concept. Statistical data processing was done by SPSS 21 software that uses product moment correlation test then the result is analyzed descriptively. Based on the research result, it can be concluded that there is a relationship between self-concept to the ability of mathematical creative thinking with correlation of 0.792 at the level of significance 0.000 and the coefficient of determination of 62,73% with good relationship classification. This means that variations in creative thinking can be explained by variations in self-concept, the higher the self-concept of the students ,the higher the ability to think mathematically.

Abstract

The development of creative thinking is one of the focus of mathematics learning. This study aims to determine the level of creative thinking ability of students of SMP Krida Utama class VIII on the flat wake material. The sample in this study amounted to 5 students, the instrument used as many as 4 pieces of questions in the form of a description problem. Currently the development of creativity has become one of the focus of learning that can be developed through the teaching process, including mathematics learning. One of the topics in mathematics that has the potential as a means of developing the creativity of the attainment of creative thinking ability is the wake-up topic. In this study the number of students who meet the fluency indicator (fluency) as much as 65%, flexibility as much as 70%, 50% originality, elaboration as much as 40%.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to examine the influence of the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach in improving students' mathematical communication ability. In this research, a quasi-experiment was used, with the research using the non-equivalent pretest-posttest control group design. Eighth grade students at PGRI 1 Cimahi Middle School were the subjects of the research. To measure mathematical communication ability, data was obtained from four test questions that had been tested previously. Next, the data obtained will be analyzed and processed using analysis of 2 dependent samples using a normality test first, followed by a paired t-test. Mathematical communication ability improve much better for students who use the RME Approach compared to students who use the regular learning approach.

Abstract

Most students consider mathematics to be one of the most challenging subjects. The low level of math comprehension among middle school students is a driving force for this study. The purpose of this study is to improve students' mathematical comprehension skills by utilizing the PBL approach with the help of Edpuzzle. This research method uses quasi-experimentation, which is carried out by taking 2 classes, namely the experimental class and the control class. The subjects in this study are 54 students in grades VII-B and VII-C SMP Dharma Kartini for the 2023/2024 school year. The instrument used is in the form of a description test using indicators of mathematical comprehension ability. The description questions used are 4 questions in social arithmetic material. The data from the study was processed using 2 independent samples using the normality test and the Mann-Whitney test. The results of the analysis showed that the improvement of mathematical comprehension skills of grade VII junior high school students whose learning using the Problem Based Learning model assisted by Edpuzzle was better than that of those using conventional learning.
