Abstract

Abstract

Ultraviolet water sterilizer is a long cylindrical device used for the sterilization of water into drinkable water. Ultraviolet water sterilizer has two main parts: an adapter and UV tubes. The adapter serves to drain the ratio of electricity according to the voltage and current required by ultraviolet water sterilizer. UV tubes contain ultraviolet lamps where light is the main equipment for making the water drinkable and the water will flow along with the ultraviolet rays, so that the water flowing in the tube is passed through the sterilization process with ultraviolet rays so that the water is unfit for consumption. The problems that the authors take in this study are the factors that affect the declining quality of sterilization, the impact of what happens when the quality of sterilization decreases, and what efforts are made to keep the quality of sterilization is not decreased. The data was collected through observations, interviews, and literature directly related to the subject related to the factors, the impact, as well as the efforts of the decline in the sterilization process to the sterilizer in order to improve the quality of drinking water. The cause of the decline to the sterilization process in order to improve the quality of drinking water in MV. PAN EPIC that dirty filters, dirty water tubes, and the dirty ultraviolet lamp or resulting in less fresh water, complaints against the company, as well as the ship's operational costs are reduced. Therefore some efforts are made to improve the quality of the results of sterilization including cleaning filters, cleaning water tubes, and also cleaning the germicidal lamp,

Abstract

Fisherman is someone who works to do fishing activities in the sea with the aim of some or all of the proceeds sold. Fishermen have a high risk to their work, therefore the importance of safety and security culture in fishermen and the environment is very important to develop. The certification to fishermen through education and training of Basic Safety Training Motor Sailboats is an effort to improve the development of educational and economic aspects. In the aspect of education, certification will provide education to the community especially fishermen about the importance of safety and security while in the economic aspect is improving welfare and job search opportunities through certification in the community. The results of support for the development of the education sector and the economy are expected to increase the number of human development indexes, especially in central Java. Observations are carried out based on literature studies and then an approach to the implementation provided is through the implementation of community empowerment training programs. The human development index in Central Java Province which has increased by 0.20% in 2020 is expected to continue to increase, therefore observations are carried out in an effort to find out what things can support the sustainability of increased development, especially in economic aspects and education in the maritime field.

Abstract

This research aims to develop an IoT-based ship engine performance monitoring system to enhance operational efficiency in marine vessels. The study introduces a real-time monitoring prototype integrating sensors, microcontrollers, and cloud-based data visualization. The variables observed include engine temperature, RPM, and fuel consumption. The methodology follows a design and implementation approach, tested on a diesel-powered training ship over a two-week observation period. Data were collected continuously and analyzed to detect performance anomalies and efficiency trends. Results show that the system improves situational awareness and enables proactive maintenance decisions. The developed system has implications for reducing fuel costs, extending engine life, and supporting digital transformation in marine engineering operations

Abstract

Abstract

Background: The maritime sector is undergoing a major transition as the IMO 2050 decarbonization agenda requires significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions. This shift demands a new generation of marine engineers equipped with competencies in alternative fuels, emissions management, and sustainable engineering practices. However, Indonesian maritime vocational education has limited evidence-based pedagogical models for preparing students to meet these emerging industry expectations. Aim: This study examines how technology-supported project-based learning (PBL) focused on maritime decarbonization fosters the development of green marine engineering competencies and shapes the professional identity of future maritime engineers. Methods: Using an interpretive phenomenological design, the research engaged 20 marine engineering students, 5 instructors, and 6 industry practitioners over a 16-week learning cycle. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, classroom observations, reflective journals, and project artefacts, then analyzed using Braun and Clarke’s thematic analysis. Results: Five principal themes emerged: development of systemic understanding of decarbonization technologies; collaborative construction of knowledge through distributed expertise; emergence of environmentally oriented professional identity; productive struggle as a catalyst for deep learning; and authenticity strengthened by industry involvement. Quantitative results showed notable gains in GMECI indicators, including alternative fuel knowledge (+28.8%), energy efficiency (+26.4%), environmental compliance (+24.8%), and sustainable problem-solving (+28.1%). Conclusion: Technology-integrated PBL effectively builds multidimensional green engineering competencies and provides a strong pedagogical foundation for MARPOL-aligned curriculum reform in Indonesian maritime vocational education.
