Abstract

This study aims to determine the authority of ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR) as the ASEAN Human Rights Agency in the non-intervention principle scheme using qualitative descriptive research methods. The increasing cases of human rights violations in Southeast Asia has become a question for the existence of AICHR, which was deliberately formed with the aim of tackling the issue of human rights violations. This research concludes that the AICHR's performance authority in handling cases of human rights violations in the region, in fact, must clash with the non-intervention principle scheme of its parent organization, ASEAN. So, in this case, to maximize the performance of AICHR ideally, it is necessary to re-construct the ASEAN Way regime by collaborating the principles of non-intervention and humanitarian intervention in accordance with the development of international norms. Abstract

This study aims to describe Indonesia's strategy in dealing with EU non-tariff barriers to Indonesia's CPO exports using the qualitative method. The EU implemented non-tariff barriers to Indonesia's CPO imports from 2009-2017. Therefore, the researcher uses the framework of public relations campaign and new protectionism in free trade to answer Indonesia's strategy in facing EU obstacles in 2017-2019. This study then found the answer that Indonesia's strategy was carried out through a positive campaign or white campaign to EU countries and also made a counter policy, namely protecting nickel. Abstract

The struggle to change patriarchal ideology towards gender equality in Bali requires commitment, energy, and time. A number of women in Bali took positions and actions to be intensively engaged in the gender equality movement. The purpose of this research is to understand the narrative identity of gender equality activists in Bali. With phenomenology method, this study finds that the motivation to engage in the gender equality movement stems from the interpretation of personal observations on cases of discrimination and marginalization of women in their respective environments. This meaning becomes the basis of their identity as women activists. Political reforms and affirmative policies towards women are seen by them as opportunities to start taking part in or enlarging the gender equality movement. The meaning of self and value orientation underlies the choice to focus on the movement segment which includes gender education, legal case assistance, and socialization of gender equality norms.

Abstract

Although much literature has examined conflict management and conflict resolution, there have not yet been systematic studies that focus on their discrepancies. This article aims to explore the difference between conflict management and conflict resolution in the context of international relations. The discussion includes the theoretical and practical aspects of both approaches to peace based on a literature review of primary texts in Security and Peace Studies. This study adopts a qualitative descriptive method to shed light on the difference between the two approaches. In reference to the concept of negative and positive peace, theoretically, conflict management is engaged in negative peace, and conflict resolution in positive peace. Conflict management has the output to open room for peace processes such as negotiations, and conflict resolution to create peace agreements. Both approaches contribute significantly as keys to the transition towards peace through peace operations and supporting mechanisms to bring the finest negotiations. KEYWORDSConflict Management; Conflict Resolution; Negotiation; Peace
