Abstract

The implementation of a small-scale Micro-Hydro Power Plant which considering a 2-meter water head river will be discussed in this research. Therefore, a Micro-Hydro Power Plant with a Propeller turbine type was implemented. The turbine components include the turbine wheel, blades, guide vanes, turbine housing, turbine cover, and discharge pipe. Each component was manufactured using a 3D printing process with PLA filament. The testing process involved a miniature dam made from a container with a height of 1 meter, connected vertically with pipes. Water flowing into the turbine rotates the turbine wheel, causing it to rotate on the turbine shaft. Output data, including rthe number of rotations (RPM) and torque (M), were collected using sensors placed on the turbine wheel shaft. The testing results of the prototype Propeller turbine showed an efficiency of over 90% at a flow rate of approximately 0.008 m^3/s. Under the ideal design conditions with 90% efficiency, the prototype turbine would operate at a rotation speed of 2880 RPM and generate a power output (P) of 66 Watts.

Abstract

As an alternative source of green and renewable energy, a Solar Power Plant can be installed that utilizes solar cells. On-grid PV is one of the easiest types of PV systems to implement because it does not use batteries, but requires interconnection with the grid network system to run properly. On-grid PV interconnection requires technical study to review the impact of On-grid PV interconnection to the grid system and to review its compliance with the applicable Grid Code. Interconnection technical study consists power flow analysis, short circuit analysis, harmonic analysis, and transient stability analysis. The case study of the 7kW On-Grid PLTS installation is reviewed in this study, and the results of this technical study recommend that the On-Grid PLTS installation is feasible to operate and fulfills all the Grid-Code rules.

Abstract

This study proposes improving the performance of a fixed-axis multistage Savonius wind turbine by integrating a sixbladed guide vane. Guide vanes aim to direct the incoming wind towards the blades of the Savonius wind turbine so that it can increase the performance value of the turbine itself. There are two methods, the first method is computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation to evaluate the best performance guide vane angle variations. The second method is implementing real conditions using 3 m/s until 4.2 m/s wind speed. The implementation of the guide vane to the wind turbine will consider four (4) variants of angles (0°, 20°, 40°, and 60°). The purpose of testing with four kinds of guide vane angles is to find out which guide vane angle can provide the best results among other guide vane angles. This research proposed the initial design of the guide vane addition to the multistage Savonius wind turbine with a fixed rotary axis. From the CFD simulation, the implementation of a guide vane can improve the performance of the multistage Savonius wind turbine with a fixed rotary axis. On the other hand, for the proposed initial design in this research, the 20° angle of guide vane gives the best result compared to the 0°, 40°, 60°, and without guide vane.

Abstract

Inadequate lighting can hinder outdoor activities such as traffic or pedestrian access. Solar street lighting system is planned to provide sufficient lighting for roads lacking proper illumination. DIALux software uses simulation to determine the lamp power and pole specifications, followed by applying formulas to establish component specifications. In this research, a performance comparison based on voltage drop and power losses will be conducted for solar street lighting systems with decentralized and centralized systems. With a road length of 130 meters and a width of 5 meters, simulations were performed for each variable of lamps (10, 12, 19, and 30 Watt). The calculations show that 4 streetlights are needed, and simulation results indicated that the most suitable lamp power is 12 Watt. The analysis showed that the centralized and decentralized designs do not have voltage drops exceeding the applicable limit. However, the centralized design has higher power losses amounting to 3.68 Watt. Another advantage of the decentralized design is its independence, with each load powered by a separate solar panel, while the centralized design is vulnerable to the overall system. In conclusion, the decentralized design is more suitable for implementation after comparing the centralized and decentralized designs based on the voltage drop and power losses.

Abstract

Perancangan sebuah turbin dibutuhkan untuk mengkonversi energi yang terdapat pada sumber tenaga air menjadi energi kinetik yang digunakan untuk memutar poros generator sehingga menghasilkan energi listrik. Pada penelitian ini akan dirancang sebuah turbin propeller yang sesuai dengan karakteristik dari Sungai Maliringan sehingga daya yang dihasilkan oleh turbin propeller tersebut memiliki efisiensi yang maksimum. Daya yang dihasilkan oleh turbin dipengaruhi oleh karakteristik dari sumber tenaga air, yaitu debit air dan ketinggian jatuh air (head). Penelitian ini akan membahas tentang hasil simulasi dengan menggunakan metode Computational Dynamics Fluid (CFD) yang dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk memperoleh daya dan kecepatan putar yang dihasilkan oleh turbin. Turbin propeller ini dirancang berdasarkan karakteristik dari Sungai Maliringan dengan menggunakan software CAD SolidWork dan simulasi dilakukan dengan menggunakan software COMSOL Multiphysics

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kinerja Dermaga Island Berth dengan mengimplementasikan energi terbarukan dan sistem perlindungan yang efektif. Upaya dilakukan untuk meminimalkan potensi-potensi yang dapat menghambat atau menghentikan operasional dermaga. Langkah-langkah yang diambil meliputi pemasangan perlindungan katoda pada pipa dan struktur dermaga, serta perancangan kebutuhan energi cadangan. Berdasarkan hasil perhitungan, dermaga Island Berth membutuhkan 24 modul panel surya dengan spesifikasi 410wp. Energi yang dihasilkan oleh panel surya akan disimpan dalam 20unit baterai tipe HVM 75 dan 30unit baterai tipe HVM 510. Pengontrol yang digunakan memiliki spesifikasi 60A dengan tegangan 48V. Selain itu, sistem ini juga menggunakan inverter yang mengubah tegangan dari 48 VDC menjadi 220 VAC. Keamanan sistem dijaga dengan 6 MCB (Miniature Circuit Breaker) dengan arus masing-masing 6A dan 2 poles. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi penting dalam upaya meningkatkan keandalan dan ketersediaan Dermaga Island Berth. Penggunaan energi terbarukan dan sistem perlindungan yang efektif diharapkan dapat menjaga kinerja dermaga secara optimal. Hasil penelitian ini dapat menjadi acuan untuk pengembangan lebih lanjut dalam memperbaiki sistem operasional dermaga yang serupa.

Abstract

This community service establishes a collaborative effort between Parahyangan Catholic University and SMAK 1 BPK PENABUR Bandung to enhance the TechnoCreator program through community involvement. The program aims to enhance students' understanding of electronics by incorporating advanced technologies like the Internet of Things (IoT) and machine learning. It also introduces the concepts of Industry 4.0 and technopreneurship. The research entailed conducting a series of focused group talks, often known as focus groups, to ascertain the material and learning requirements. Additionally, an extracurricular curriculum for robotics was developed. The outcomes are the creation of novel educational programs, maintenance of guest lectures, strategic planning for the construction of an ESP32-based Internet of Things kit, the design of a prototype industrial automation system, and the implementation of a supplementary robotics program aimed at enhancing students' preparedness for advanced studies in electrical engineering. The activity also seeks to facilitate the transfer of students from secondary education to college. The result implies that this project effectively enhances student learning experiences and can be used as a blueprint for comparable technology education programs in the future.

Abstract

The problem of limited access to electricity in the agricultural sector will have a direct impact on the suboptimal operation of smart greenhouses, including irrigation systems, additional lighting, and sensor-based environmental monitoring. The absence of a reliable energy source makes it difficult for farmers to maintain the stability of the planting environment, especially in remote areas that are not covered by the PLN electricity network. This community service activity aims to design an off-grid Solar Power Plant (PLTS) system as an independent energy solution that is efficient, environmentally friendly, and accessible to farmers in the location. The methods used include direct surveys to obtain data on electricity load requirements, measuring location conditions to determine orientation and potential for solar radiation, and technical calculations of the system based on field data. The result of this activity is a PLTS system design with a 2320 Wp solar panel configuration, 3 kW inverter, and 48V 150Ah battery, which is projected to be able to meet the daily energy needs of 2880 Wh and can maintain greenhouse operations for two days without sunlight. This activity also provides benefits in increasing farmer literacy regarding solar energy technology and encouraging initiatives to implement similar off-grid PLTS systems independently. This community service activity shows that the design of an off-grid PLTS system based on actual needs has great potential to be replicated as a sustainable energy solution in the agricultural sector.

Abstract

Energi terbarukan didapat dengan memanfaatkan sumber energi dari alam yang tidak akan habis jika digunakan terus-menerus. Salah satu energi terbarukan adalah energi matahari, dan salah satu cara untuk memanfaatkannya dibutuhkan sebuah alat yang dapat mengubah energi matahari menjadi energi listrik, yaitu panel surya. Pada penelitian ini, dibuat rancangan awal dual axis solar tracking system atau sistem penjejak matahari dengan metode fuzzy logic dan penambahan reflektor serta water treatment. Rancangan yang dibuat pada penelitian kali ini berupa desain CAD menggunakan software SolidWorks. Semua rancangan yang dibuat, diambil dari beberapa referensi yang digabungkan, sedangkan parameter yang digunakan hanya besar sudut atara reflektor dan panel surya.

Abstract

Program pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilaksanakan di BLK Don Bosco Sumba dengan tujuan meningkatkan kompetensi peserta dalam bidang Artificial Intelligence (AI), desain digital, manufaktur aditif, dan pengoperasian mesin CNC. Kegiatan diikuti oleh 23 peserta yang terdiri dari instruktur dan siswa, berlangsung selama enam hari dengan pendekatan pelatihan partisipatif berbasis praktik langsung (hands-on training). Materi pelatihan meliputi empat sesi, yaitu pemanfaatan AI untuk mendukung pembelajaran, perawatan laptop, desain SolidWorks dan 3D Printing, serta pengoperasian mesin CNC Router. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan bahwa seluruh aspek pelatihan memperoleh skor rata-rata di atas 4,5 (skala 1–5), dengan nilai tertinggi pada keterterapan materi. Temuan ini membuktikan bahwa kegiatan pelatihan dinilai relevan, aplikatif, serta mampu menciptakan suasana pembelajaran yang interaktif. Selain itu, integrasi AI dalam pendidikan memberikan perspektif baru bagi instruktur lokal, sedangkan praktik langsung dalam 3D Printing dan CNC Router memperkuat keterampilan peserta. Kegiatan ini menegaskan pentingnya pelatihan terstruktur berbasis praktik dalam peningkatan kualitas sumber daya manusia, sekaligus dapat menjadi model bagi program serupa di masa mendatang.
