Abstract

This research aims to find out the relationship between critical thinking skills and the decision-making skills of prospective physics teacher students. This research is correlational or relationshipal, and it is ex post facto research with a quantitative approach. The population of this study was all first-semester students, totaling 99 students at one of the universities in South Sulawesi. The sample used in this research was 76 students, taken using convenience sampling. The results of the research show that there is a positive correlation between critical thinking skills and the decision-making skills of prospective physics teacher students, with a correlation coefficient (rxy) of 0.549 at a medium level and a coefficient of determination of 30.1%. Thus, if a student's critical thinking skills are high, the higher their decision-making skills, or vice versa, the lower the student's critical thinking skills, the lower their decision-making skills.

Abstract

The low interest of students in reading the practicum guide is the focus of the problem in this study. This study is a survey study which is part of development research. This study aims to describe the define stage at the needs analysis stage (initial-final analysis and student analysis), identification of Basic Physics material, and identification of resources. The research data were analyzed descriptively. The study results indicate that the curriculum applied to the Physics Education Study Program at one of the Muhammadiyah Universities in Makassar is the MBKM-oriented KKNI curriculum. The initial-final analysis found that the Basic Physics practicum module was still conventional and in printed form, manually distributed to students. Student analysis found that students' learning styles were visual. The specification-identification of Basic Physics material found that the essential material for Basic Physics practicum consisted of five experimental units that would be developed. Information was obtained from the identification of resources that all students had smartphones that could access the practicum e-module. Therefore, the practicum e-module that will be developed will direct students to visual activities like user-friendly flipbooks and easily accessible via students' smartphones.

Abstract

ABSTRAK. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui peningkatan hasil belajar siswa SMK Negeri 2 Pangkep Kelas X TPBO 2 dengan menerapkan model pembelajaran Case Based Learning (CBL). Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan jenis penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK). Subyek penelitian ini adalah 33 siswa. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian pada siklus I, rata-rata skor pre test adalah 56,21 dan skor post test adalah 67,72. Skor ini menunjukkan adanya peningkatan sebesar 11,51 poin dengan standar n-gain 0,26 dan tergolong rendah, selanjutnya data penelitian siklus II Nilai rata-rata pre test adalah 70,75 dan post test 89,54, mengalami peningkatan sebesar 18,79 poin. Standar n-gain pada siklus II sebesar 0,64 dengan kualifikasi sedang. Dari data tersebut terlihat bahwa standar gain belajar fisika mengalami peningkatan pada setiap siklusnya dan tergolong dalam kualifikasi sedang pada Siklus II.

Abstract

One of the skills needed to face challenges in the 21st century is problem solving. The purpose of this study was to find out whether there was a significant difference between students' problem solving abilities before and after applying problem based learning to static fluid material. The method used in this research is a pre-experimental method with one group pretest-posttest group design. The research subject used in this study was one of the Senior High Schools in South Sulawesi, with a total of 33 students including 9 boys and 14 girls. The instrument used to collect data is a problem solving ability test instrument in the form of a description of static fluid material. The results of the descriptive analysis showed that the average score of students' problem solving abilities before the application of problem based learning was 59.81 while after the application of problem based learning was 194.15. Meanwhile, the results of the value of the paired t-test analysis, namely 0.00 <0.05 so that Ho was rejected and H1 was accepted. Thus, there is a significant difference between students' problem solving abilities before and after the application of problem based learning to static fluid material.

Abstract

This thinks about points to create an appraisal of thinking skills of interpretation, analysis, and inference through analytical essay assessment instruments, worksheets, and problem-solving. Preliminary investigation of the advancement of basic considering aptitudes assessment instruments for prospective Physics teachers in the last 3 (three) years in the Basic Physics course, the test instruments in the Basic Physics course have not been fully oriented to indicators of interpretation, analysis, and inference thinking skills. The process of changing Physics learning, both at the tertiary level and at the secondary school level, is directed at training students to use their thinking potential. One of the Physics learning skills mentioned in Permendikbud Number 64 of 2013 is the development of thinking skills of interpretation, analysis, and inference. This shows that the process and evaluation of learning physics, especially basic physics, should be directed at developing thinking skills in interpretation, analysis, and inference. This inquiry is spurred by the requirement for an appraisal instrument that measures critical thinking skills, especially interpretation, analysis, and inference thinking skills. This study aims to develop an assessment of thinking skills of interpretation, analysis, and inference through analytical essay assessment instruments, worksheets, and problem-solving. This study refers to the 4D Thiagarajan model and produces an assessment that measures the ability to think of interpretation, analysis, and inference. The test instrument was created within the shape of essay analysis, and problem-solving on indicators of thinking skills of interpretation, analysis, and inference. The test instrument was further validated by two experts, and it can be concluded that the created test is exceptionally attainable to utilize.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui sejarah berdirinya Pondok Pesantren Raudhaturrasyidin DDI Cambalagi, perkembangan hingga dampak dan peran alumni Pondok Pesantren Raudhaturrasyidin DDI Cambalagi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian sejarah yang meliputi tahapan-tahapan berikut: Pertama, heuristik yaitu pengumpulan data dengan cara observasi, wawancara, studi pustaka (literatur). Kedua, kritik yaitu dengan mengkritik, seleksi data dengan cara pengujian mengenai kebenaran dan ketetapan data yang telah dikumpulkan. Ketiga, interpretasi yaitu menafsirkan data dengan memberi makna pengetahuan pada data sesuai kebenaran fakta, dan keempat historiografi yaitu menuliskan peristiwa sejarah menjadi cerita utuh. Hasil penelitian ini mengungkapkan bahwa pendirian Pondok Pesantren Raudhaturrasyidin DDI Cambalagi sebagai salah satu upaya yang dilakukan oleh pendirinya untuk membentuk suatu lembaga pendidikan Islam yang mencetak santri-santri yang memiliki kualitas ilmu yang baik. Selanjutnya Pondok Pesantren Raudhaturrasyidin DDI Cambalagi telah mengalami perubahan yang sangat luar biasa yang semulanya hanya Sekolah Arab sore sedangkan sekarang sudah mempunyai ruang kelas, lapangan olahraga, serta laboratorium untuk santri, dan juga mempunyai asrama tersendiri serta mengalami peningkatan santri setiap tahunnya. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa, sejak berdirinya pesantren sampai sekarang terus mengalami perkembangan seperti usaha peningkatan dalam pesantren meliputi: sarana dan prasarana, santri, guru dan ustadz, kurikulum, sistem dan metode pembelajaran, serta prestasi.

Abstract

This study aims to map the physics education research topics trending in the last three years in highly reputable international journals. This is a descriptive study that analyzed 511 articles using content analysis. All articles were selected from the top 3 academic journals: International Journal of Science Education (IJSE), Research in Science Education (RISE), and Science Education (SE). All three journals have JSRs above 0.8 with a quartile of Q1. Data collection and analysis were carried out from April to September 2020. The results showed that the top research topics in the IJSE journal were science learning: contexts, characteristics, and interactions with a percentage of 15.05%. Likewise, in the RISE journal, the topics of science learning: contexts, characteristics, and interactions also ranked first with a percentage of 16.30%. Meanwhile, the top research topics in the SE journal were STEM/STEAM, with a percentage of 13.28%. Based on the results, it can be concluded that overall, the top three research topics highlighted by physics researchers in highly reputable international journals from 2017 to 2019 period were science learning: contexts, characteristics and interactions, STEM/STEAM, and curriculum and assessment.

Abstract

Understanding the Nature of Science (NoS) is now widely recognized as an important component in cultivating students’ scientific literacy. NoS can be manifested through textbooks used to facilitate learning of physics in the classroom. The purpose of this study is to describe the proportion of NoS represented in five popular physics textbooks used in Indonesian high schools and the strategy for presenting NoS in those textbooks. The data were obtained through analyzing the NoS aspects in five similar chapters of each textbook using the framework and scoring rubric. The results of this study revealed that none of the five books analyzed contains complete aspects of NoS. The aspect of dimension of science shows the highest proportion in the five textbooks. However, the aspect of inferential, tentative, and creative aspects are poorly represented or even not addressed at all. Besides, these aspects are mostly delivered implicitly. The results of this study are expected to be a positive input for the revision of the textbooks in the future.
