Abstract

Natural Science Education aims to help learners to be able to understand the natural surroundings include process, facts and principles that exist in nature. One of the aspects that support the success of understanding science and the process of learning science is the application of science literacy. The study was aimed to determine the effect of Biology in Context learning on cognitive learning outcome of junior high school student grade VIII in science subject. The research was conducted in Bekasi State Junior High School 2 at the first semester of the 2018/2019. The sampling technique used purposive sampling with a total sample 72 students obtained through the calculation of Slovin formula. The method used is the experimental method, non equivalent control group design. Data collection is done with the instruments of students cognitive learning outcomes. The analysis prerequisite test used is the normality test using Kolmogorov-Smirnov and the homogeneity test using Levene test. Hypothesis tested with the t test and the normalized gain value test. Based on the results of hypothesis test, there is the influence of Biology in context learning on the student cognitive learning outcome. Biology in context learning can improve student cognitive learning outcomes better than guided inquiry learning, which is equal to 66.4% or 0.45 in the calculation using normalized gain.

Abstract

Kelelawar merupakan organisme yang berperan penting bagi kelangsungan kehidupan manusia dan kelestarian ekosistem. Sayangnya akhir-akhir ini populasi kelelawar di dunia mengalami penurunan. Faktor utama yang menyebabkan hal ini terjadi adalah kehilangan habitat akibat degradasi habitat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat perbandingan keanekaragaman kelelawar di pulau Jawa dan Kalimantan. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan Juli 2021 dengan metode studi literatur dengan data yang diambil dari beberapa artikel mengenai keanekaragaman kelelawar di pulau Jawa dan Kalimantan. Berdasarkan penelitian yang sudah dilakukan perbandingan keanekaragaman kelelawar di pulau Jawa dan Kalimantan diketahui bahwa pulau Kalimantan memiliki keanekaragaman kelelawar yang lebih tinggi daripada kelelawar di pulau Jawa berdasarkan indeks keanekaragaman kelelawar di kedua pulau. Perbedaan tinggi indeks keanekaragaman kelelawar ini disebabkan karena pulau Kalimantan memiliki luas hutan yang lebih besar dibandingkan pulau Jawa yang berpengaruh juga terhadap jumlah pakan yang tersedia bagi kelelawar untuk hidup.

Abstract

Pada tahun 1989, sebagian wilayah Bantargebang dengan luas 113,15 ha mengalami operasionalisasi menjadi TPA bagi sampah-sampah dari DKI Jakarta. Penumpukan sampah di TPA Bantargebang menimbulkan pencemaran, khususnya air dan udara bagi masyarakat di sekitar TPA. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan strategi pembinaan yang efektif dan efisien agar mampu mewujudkan kontribusi dari masyarakat dalam mengelola sampah organik secara tepat. Salah satu alternatif adalah dengan cara mengubah sampah tersebut menjadi produk yang dapat dimanfaatkan kembali, yaitu eco enzyme. Edukasi program pembuatan eco enzyme dilaksanakan di daerah Bekasi kepada guru-guru MGMP IPA SMP/SMTs Kota Bekasi. Berdasarkan identifikasi ditetapkan beberapa permasalahan yang muncul, yakni minimnya kesempatan para guru untuk berkontribusi secara aktif pada pengelolaan sampah organik, khususnya sisa sayur dan buah yang tidak dikonsumsi. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah mengembangkan program pembuatan eco enzyme dengan menggunakan Teknik case study dan simulasi melalui pendekatan participation strategy. Dalam hal ini, masyarakat dilibatkan secara aktif dalam pembuatan eco enzyme. Berdasarkan hasil produk yang dibuat oleh guru, maka disimpulkan kegiatan pengabdian ini telah berhasil menarik minta para peserta untuk berkontribusi dalam menyelamatkan bumi dengan mengurangi limbah domestik.

Abstract

Kesulitan dalam memahami materi genetika seringkali muncul akibat sifat abstrak dan ketersediaan media pembelajaran yang kurang memadai. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengatasi permasalahan tersebut dengan fokus pada pengembangan media pembelajaran "Kotak Kromosom" (KOKRO) untuk materi kromosom. Metode Research & Development (R&D) dengan model 3D digunakan dalam penelitian ini. Pengembangan KOKRO melibatkan tahap define, design, dan development, dengan validasi konten dan media oleh ahli Pendidikan Biologi. Kotak Kromosom adalah perangkat pengajaran berbentuk kotak dari kardus, dilapisi kertas pembungkus, dan bagian dalamnya dilapisi kertas berwarna cerah yang berisi gambar-gambar tentang kromosom. Hasil dari kedua uji tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa secara umum, media pembelajaran KOKRO layak digunakan dengan sedikit revisi kecil untuk meningkatkan efektivitasnya.

Abstract

Biology learning in the 21st century requires students to understand complex genetics concepts, particularly the inheritance of traits in living organisms based on Mendel's laws. Computational thinking skills are essential for helping students systematically analyze and solve these intricate genetic patterns. This study aims to analyze the relationship between computational thinking skills and cognitive learning outcomes on the material of the inheritance of living creatures’ traits based on Mendel’s law. The research method used is descriptive with a correlational study. This study employed a descriptive correlational research method, conducted at SMAI PB Soedirman with a sample of 87 twelfth-grade science students from 203 students with an average age of 17-18 years and a balanced proportion of male and female selected through simple random sampling. The instruments used included questionnaires to measure computational thinking skills and tests to assess cognitive learning outcomes in genetics. Data analysis involved descriptive statistics to summarize the data and correlational analysis using Pearson’s Product-Moment to explore the relationship between variables. The tests that have been carried out show that there is a significant positive and linear relationship between computational thinking skills and cognitive learning outcomes of genetic trait inheritance based on Mendel’s law. The strength level of the relationship between the two variables is moderate.

Abstract

Bilingual student worksheet in Biology Lessons was currently not available in SMAN 68. Such worksheet is useful for increasing student engagement during learning process, encouraging students to apply the knowledge into daily living activities, and also helping student to understand English in Biology. Therefore, this research was aimed to develop bilingual student worksheet with contextual approach on human reproductive system topic. It is held at SMAN 68 Jakarta on February to May 2012. This research and development consisted of three stages: need assessment, development, and feasibility test. The result of feasibility tests showed that 88.4% obtained from material expert, 80% from media expert, 95.5% from linguist expert, 85.14% from Biology teacher, 71.96% from the smaller group student, and 77.6% from the larger group student. Based on the results, it was concluded that the worksheet can be used as teaching material for senior high school student in Biology lesson on human reproductive system topic.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to know the effect of the use of bilingual student worksheet toward students learning outcomes on the human reproductive system topic. This research was conducted at SMAN 68 Jakarta on April-May 2012. The method was quasi-experimental with posttest-only design. The Simple random sampling technique selected 30 students grade 11 of IPA 4 included in experimental group and another 30 students grade 11 of IPA 3 as control group. This research used instrument of multiple choice test with five alternative answers. Prerequisite Testing for normality of Kolmogorov Smirnov and homogeneity testing of F-test showed a normal distribution and homogenous data. The hypothesis testing on cognitive learning result using t-test at α = 0.05 indicated that tcount (2.35) > ttable (2.00) which rejected the H0, whether the hypothesis testing on affective learning result using t-test at α = 0.05 showed that t count (3.84) > t table (2.00) which rejected the H0. Based on the results, it can be concluded that there was an effect of using the bilingual student worksheet toward students learning outcomes on the human reproductive system topic.

Abstract

Kajian Bibliometrik Pengembangan E-Modul Bidang IPA Di Perguruan Tinggi. Pada era revolusi industri 4.0, penggunaan teknologi digital dalam pendidikan menjadi sangat penting, terutama dalam menyelenggarakan pembelajaran yang efektif dan menarik.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi dan memetakan tren publikasi pengembangan e-modul dalam bidang sains di perguruan tinggi menggunakan analisis bibliometrik. Penelitian ini menganalisis 698 artikel ilmiah dari database Google Scholar antara tahun 2013 hingga 2023 dengan fokus pada e-modul IPA sebagai media pembelajaran. Metode analisis bibliometrik yang digunakan mencakup analisis performa dan pemetaan kata kunci. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan jumlah publikasi terkait e-modul, dengan tren yang berkembang pesat dalam beberapa tahun terakhir. Selain itu, analisis co-word mengungkapkan hubungan antar istilah kunci dalam penelitian ini, menyoroti pentingnya integrasi e-modul dalam pendidikan tinggi. Temuan ini diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi bagi pengembangan penelitian lebih lanjut di bidang pendidikan.

Abstract

The implementation of biology learning in the field encounters numerous challenges. Specifically on genetic substance material, students experience learning difficulties due to abstract, interdisciplinary concepts and difficulties in understanding textbooks. This problem can be overcome one way by using learning media. Under current learning demands, technology-based media is appropriate to use. Augmented Reality (AR) based media is one option. The accessibility of augmented reality-based media remains limited, especially for genetic substance material, despite the necessity for media capable of visualizing its complex and abstract characteristics. The results of the needs analysis for teachers and students also show that AR-based media is needed in genetic substance learning. The use of AR media is very possible because of the support of adequate infrastructure. Teachers and students also expressed their willingness to use AR media in learning. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that AR-based biology learning media on Genetic Substance material is urgent to be developed. This media will be able to enrich the variety of biology learning media and become one of the solutions to overcome problems in biology learning, especially genetic substance material.

Abstract

A teacher must have teaching skills in order to become a professional teacher. The purpose of this article is to present the results of research on the development of teaching skills multimedia for microteaching courses in the Biology Education Study Program, FMIPA, State University of Jakarta. Multimedia is designed by combining text, images, audio and video to present basic teaching skills material in an interactive and interesting way. This research consisted of two years, in the first year four basic multimedia teaching skills were developed, namely: opening and closing lesson skills, class management skills and basic questioning skills and advanced questioning skills. This research is research and development (RnD) which was adapted into 7 stages from 10 steps of development research by Gall, Gall and Borg, including 1) research and data collection, 2) planning, 3) making prototypes, 4) testing first prototype, 5) prototype improvements, 6) field trials, 7) product improvements. The multimedia products developed are evaluated and assessed by experts, then revised based on the suggestions given and the results of field trials. The results of the research show that the multimedia developed is valid, practical and effective for improving teaching skills of pre-service teachers. Through this article the author wants to suggest that PKM or microteaching lecturers can use multimedia to practice basic teaching skills.
