Abstract

The study reports the appraisal analysis and the rhetorical structure of eulogies delivered at Mrs. Lee Kuan Yew memorial service. Eulogies are meant to remember the person who died in a positive light, and offer an opportunity to speak about who the deceased was and the ways in which she or he made a difference in the lives of family, friends, and his or her community. Since eulogy contains praises for someone admired, and the speaker recalls the memories shared, he has to evaluate his feelings and relation by expressing attitude, his position towards the deceased, and gradable valuation. Such evaluation has to do with appraisal system. The research integrates the appraisal theory proposed by Martin and White (2005) and rhetorical structure (Kunkel and Dennis, 2003). This study employs discourse analysis method of research. The findings reveals that the eulogies have primarily used the judgement resources rather than affect and appreciation within the attitude system. As eulogizing function, the eulogy composed largely of laudation and praise, the use of judgement appraising items shows how the eulogizer’s assessment towards the admiring behaviour of the deceased during her life. Moreover, the utilization of the rhetorical structure contributes to the achievement of the communicative purpose of eulogy. Through the well-structured eulogies, the eulogizers heighten the audience member’s feelings of regard, love, and appreciation for the deceased.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui model pembelajaran Creative Problem Solving dapat meningkatkan Kemampuan Berpikir kreatif Anak di Raudhatul Athfal Al Amin. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian eksperimen. Jenis eksperimen pada penelitian ini yaitu eksperimen semu (quasi eksperiment). Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah anak di RA Al Amin Gersik sebanyak 20 anak. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian yaitu rubrik keterampilan berpikir kritis. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan pre-test dan post test one group design Sederhana dengan bantuan program SPSS. Hasil penelitian menyimpulkan bahwa model pembelajaran Creative Problem Solving dapat meningkatkan Kemampuan Berpikir kreatif Anak di Raudhatul Athfal Al Amin.

Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian eksperimen. Jenis eksperimen pada penelitian ini yaitu eksperimen semu (quasi eksperiment). Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah anak di RA Al Amin Gersik sebanyak 20 anak. Penentuan sampel dilakukan dengan random sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian yaitu rubrik keterampilan berpikir kritis. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan pre-test dan post test one group design Sederhana dengan bantuan program SPSS. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi miskonsepsi yang mungkin terjadi pada materi pengukuran sudut di kelas 4 Sekolah Dasar (SD). Melalui kajian literatur, kami menyelidiki berbagai sumber dan studi terkait untuk memahami kesalahan pemahaman yang mungkin dialami oleh siswa. Temuan dari literatur menyoroti beberapa area di mana miskonsepsi sering terjadi, serta strategi yang dapat diterapkan untuk mengatasi masalah ini. Dengan pemahaman yang lebih baik tentang miskonsepsi yang umum terjadi dalam pengukuran sudut, diharapkan dapat dikembangkan pendekatan pembelajaran yang lebih efektif untuk membantu siswa memahami konsep tersebut dengan lebih baik.

Abstract

Every learning activity must involve students so that they can experience what they are learning. In order to achieve the best learning results, students must be actively involved in learning activities. Reciprocal learning is an independent learning activity in learning subject matter as well as an active and creative role as an educator in conveying all information to his friends. The existence of student confidence in active and independent learning will have a positive effect on student learning outcomes. Instruments used in the form of questionnaires and tests. The questionnaire is in the form of a number of written questions used to obtain information from the respondent, while the test is in the form of a list of questions or items. The analysis in this study uses multiple linear regression tests. The results of the study show that: (1) there is a significant influence between the use of reciprocal learning and the learning outcomes of IT students at the Muhammadiyah University of Jember; (2) there is a significant influence between self-efficacy and the learning outcomes of IT students at the Muhammadiyah University of Jember; and (3) there is an effect of the use of reciprocal learning and self-efficacy simultaneously or together on the learning outcomes of IT students at the Muhammadiyah University of Jember.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keaktifan belajar pada matematika materi penjumlahan melalui penerapan model PBL berbasis media gambar. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif untuk mengetahui penggunaan model PBL berbasis media gambar dalam meningkatkan keaktifan belajar pada materi penjumlahan. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas II SDN Rejosari 03 yang terdiri 26 siswa. Penelitian dilaksanakan di kelas II SDN Rejosari 03 selama 3 pertemuan. Data yang diperoleh dari hasil observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Kemudian hasil data tersebut diolah dan disederhanakan menjadi narasi deskriptif dan diambil kesimpulan dengan cara membandingkan temuan dengan teori terkait dan penelitian terdahulu. Dari data yang diperoleh penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan model PBL berbasis media gambar penjumlahan secara signifikan dapat meningkatkan keaktifan siswa. Hal ini ditujukan dengan adanya peningkatan partisipasi aktif siswa dalam bertanya, berdiskusi, dan menjawab pertanyaan. Media gambar yang digunakan dapat membantu siswa memahami konsep penjumlahan secara konkret, dan menciptakan suasana pembelajaran yang lebih menarik. Peningkatan keaktifan siswa menunjukkan model pembelajaran ini relevan dengan kebutuhan siswa, dan dapat menjadi alternatif solusi untuk meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran matematika di sekolah dasar.

Abstract

Pricing is a critical element in business strategy, significantly influencing a company's financial performance, customer perception, and brand positioning. Poor pricing decisions can result in long-term negative impacts, including loss of competitiveness and consumer trust. In Islamic economic principles, price functions as a fair standard of exchange between goods or services and money, requiring mutual consent between buyer and seller. While various pricing methods may be employed, they must adhere to Islamic ethical standards emphasizing justice, transparency, and the prohibition of exploitation. In modern markets, factors such as deregulation, economic shifts, and intense competition increase the complexity of pricing strategies. Price often serves as a signal of product quality, especially when consumers face difficulty assessing a product’s value. Mispricing, particularly when unethical or externally imposed, can trigger public dissatisfaction. For example, government-determined fuel prices have, in some cases, led to social unrest and protest. This paper aims to explore pricing not only as a strategic business tool but also through the lens of Islamic economic thought, highlighting the balance between market forces and ethical considerations.

Abstract

Background : Early childhood development, crucial between ages 0-6, encompasses cognitive, social-emotional, and communication skills. Language development theories emphasize communication as a vital aspect of early childhood growth. Children's ability to express themselves supports their learning process and social interactions. Pretend play, involving role-playing and imagination, is a key activity that stimulates language and social skills in children. In urban areas, low social education levels often lead to inappropriate communication styles, making effective early interventions essential.Aim : This study aims to investigate the influence of pretend play on the social communication skills of children in a kindergarten in Makassar City. It seeks to determine whether pretend play can effectively enhance these skills among young children.Method : A quantitative approach with a One Group Pretest-Posttest Design was employed. Data were collected from 20 children through direct observation and pre- and post-intervention evaluations. Validity and reliability tests ensured the research instruments' accuracy.Result : Children who participated in the pretend play program showed significant improvement in social communication skills. The average score increased from 29 (61.90% of the ideal score) before the intervention to 42 (93.65%) after the intervention.Conclusion : Pretend play significantly enhances children's social communication skills, making it a valuable method in early childhood education. Its application can positively impact language development, creativity, and character formation.

Abstract

This study explores the role of Kiai in shaping the religious and social behaviors of the millennial generation within the community. As religious leaders adapt to modern challenges, the millennial generation’s engagement with spirituality has evolved, requiring innovative approaches in religious leadership. The research aims to investigate how Kiai leadership fosters religious devotion, social responsibility, and unity among his followers. Employing a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation. The findings reveal that Kiai serves as an exemplary figure (uswah hasanah), whose personal devotion and humility positively influence the members' religious practices and behaviors. His role as a socio-religious advisor has helped balance personal piety with social engagement, encouraging members to actively participate in charitable activities. Additionally, Kiai acts as a unifier of the community, fostering solidarity and inclusivity among members from diverse backgrounds. This research contributes to the understanding of contemporary Islamic leadership by demonstrating how Kiai multifaceted approach creates a transformative impact on millennial followers. It also recommends further research into similar non-formal religious communities to explore broader trends in modern Islamic leadership.
