Abstract

A nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug called ketoprofen is used to treat musculoskeletal and joint disorders, including osteoarthritis. Ketoprofen has a low solubility in water, which is a major obstacle to the absorption of the drug into the body. However, by using emulsification ion gelation technology, it is possible to create microparticles, which can improve the solubility of ketoprofen. . The aim of this study was to use emulsification and ion gelation to produce ketoprofen microparticles with higher solubility. SEM was used to characterize the structure of the ketoprofen particles. Subsequently, ketoprofen solubility and content tests were performed. When the properties were evaluated using SEM microparticles, the particle size gradually decreased from pH2, pH4, and pH6, and the water solubility of the drug increased due to the small particle size of the generated microparticles. After the emulsification-ionic gelation process, the solubility of ketoprofen increased two-fold and the pH of water increased two-fold compared to untreated ketoprofen. From this, it can be concluded that polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) and tripolyphosphoric acid (TPP) effectively improved the solubility of sparingly water-soluble ketoprofen in the emulsification ion gelation process of ketoprofen production.

Abstract

Training On the Implementation of The Tuberculosis Medication Remember Model for Tuberculosis Patients in Maccini Sombala Village, Makassar CityBackground, National Basic Health Research Data in 2018, showed that the prevalence of pulmonary Tuberculosis in South Sulawesi Province was 0.36%, almost equivalent to the national prevalence of 0.42%. In 2020 in Makassar City, the number of patients who recovered was 1,651 people out of 5412 patients treated. This is due to non-compliance in taking medication by TB sufferers, which is caused by the factor of forgetting to take medication and the lack of Medication Supervisors. The aim is to form Medication Supervisors from families or cadres who are equipped with knowledge about the model for remembering to take TB medication with the innovation of medicine boxes or plastic. Method, community service to cadres of Maccini Sombala sub-district, Makassar City in the form of counseling and training in implementing the model of remembering to take medication using plastic medicine boxes that have been given information on the day. To determine the increase in knowledge, pre and post tests were given to the cadres. The results, an increase in cadre knowledge about Tuberculosis treatment management from 35% to 92.5%. This community service activity is an effort to increase compliance in taking medication for Tuberculosis patients so that the prevalence of Tuberculosis disease decreases. Conclusion, there has been an increase in the knowledge of the target audience regarding the ins and outs of Tuberculosis disease and the community has been trained and directed in implementing the model of remembering to take Tuberculosis medicationLatar Belakang, Data Riset Kesehatan Dasar Nasional tahun 2018, menunjukkan bahwa prevalensi TBC paru di Provinsi Sulawesi Selatan 0,36%, hampir setara dengan prevalensi secara nasional yakni 0,42%. Abstract

The cosmetics industry is growing rapidly in line with increasing public awareness of the importance of skin care and optimal appearance. Cosmetic products not only serve an aesthetic purpose but also protect the skin from external factors such as UV rays, aging, and pollution. Although many studies have discussed the advantages of microencapsulation, few have analyzed its application in finished cosmetic products. Therefore, this study aims to provide a deeper understanding of the application of microencapsulation in enhancing the stability and efficacy of active ingredients in cosmetic products. This review employs a literature review method based on nine selected scientific articles from national and international journals. Literature searches were conducted using PubMed and Google Scholar with keywords related to microencapsulation in cosmetic products. The results of the study indicate that microencapsulation can enhance the stability of active ingredients, protect them from degradation caused by environmental factors, and enable controlled release of active ingredients. Cosmetic products such as sunscreen gel, face cream, and blush have been successfully developed using microencapsulation technology. Additionally, microencapsulation improves user comfort by reducing unwanted odors or colors and minimizing the risk of skin irritation. This review also identifies technical limitations in microencapsulation methods and provides recommendations for further research to improve the application of this technology in the cosmetics industry for greater efficiency and sustainability. In conclusion, microencapsulation is an effective solution for enhancing stability, efficacy of active ingredients, and user experience quality in cosmetics. Abstract

Plant-based nanoemulsions are increasingly attracting attention in pharmaceutical and cosmetic applications due to their ability to enhance the stability, solubility, and bioavailability of natural active compounds, such as flavonoids, terpenoids, and polyphenols, which possess antioxidant activity. However, the challenge lies in optimizing the nanoemulsion formulation to enhance the efficacy of these compounds. This study aims to explore the potential of plant-based nanoemulsions in enhancing the effectiveness of antioxidant compounds and to provide recommendations for developing more stable and efficient nanoemulsion formulations for pharmaceutical and cosmetic applications. A literature review was conducted by analyzing relevant scientific articles on the use of plant-based nanoemulsions in enhancing antioxidant activity. This study includes various studies that describe the methods of preparation, physicochemical characteristics, and applications of nanoemulsions in the biomedical and cosmetic fields. Plant-based nanoemulsions, such as those using Cordyceps mushroom extract and Mucuna seeds, exhibit stronger antioxidant activity and good stability. Formulations with small particle sizes and uniform particle distribution exhibit higher bioavailability and efficacy, making them promising for application in medical therapy and skin care. Plant-based nanoemulsions offer significant potential for enhancing the efficacy of antioxidant compounds in the pharmaceutical and cosmetic fields. Further development is needed through laboratory and clinical testing to ensure the efficacy and stability of nanoemulsion formulations in real-world applications. Abstract

Background: A medication error is defined as "any preventable event that may cause or lead to inappropriate medication use or patient harm while the medication is in the control of the healthcare professional, patient, or consumer." A medication error might occur at any point during the medication-use process, such as when prescribing the medicines, during dispensing, and when the drug is taken by the patient. Objectives: This review focusing on the types of medication errors (MEs) which commonly occurs during prescribing and dispensing phase on the outpatient in Indonesia. Material and Methods: Articles related to MEs during prescribing and dispensing phase were collected from DOAJ (Directory of Open Access Journals) and google scholar. The articles were reviewed and analyze to draw conclusions about the common type of MEs mostly occured on the outpatients. There were 10 articles (2003-2020) that have been reviewed, covering the types of MEs, MEs incidents and how to reduce the number of MEs incident. Results: Based on the reviewed articles, MEs commonly occured in the prescribing phase were incomplete data of patient's on the prescription include address, born date, weight and gender; unclear information on the prescription including, dosage, route of adminstration, illegible writing; uncomplete data on the doctor's information such as the practise license number wasn't listed, and there were no information on medicine interactions. MEs occured during dispensing phase were uncomplete data on the information about how to use, time of using, indication, the amount of the drug given, the side effects, the storage instruction, the strength or the doses of medicine, error in writing etiquette, error in compounding as well as there was no information related what to do if the patient forgot to take the medicines.
