Abstract

The rate of Tuberculosis (TB) cases in Padang has never dropped appreciably from year to year. Cases continue to be reported in all working regions of Puskesmas (primary healthcare center) although the precise transmission site is unknown. This study aims to determine the distribution pattern of TB sufferers in 4 Health Center working areas with the highest incidence using nearest neighbor analysis. This quantitative descriptive study used secondary data from the Padang Health Office and 4 working regions of primary healthcare centers from 2022 to March 2023, totaling 938 cases. The evidence is supported by actual observations of the physical conditions of the environment where TB patients live. The investigation of the ArcGIS program discovered that of the 4 working regions of primary healthcare centers. Mapping revealed that all locations showed a cluster pattern of TB transmission. It is hoped that these findings will be useful for health institutions in determining interventions so they can break the chain of TB transmission.

This study aims to determine changes in the knowledge and attitudes of schoolchildren toward myopia prevention efforts at Al-Azhar 32 elementary school in Padang. This research uses mixed-methods research (quantitative-qualitative), qualitatively using exploratory case studies and quantitatively using a quasi-experiment with a one-group pretest and posttest design. The population in this study were fifth-grade elementary school students, with a sample size of 64 people. Sampling technique with a purposive sample Informants in the study were eye health workers, health promotion workers, elementary school teachers, and graphic design experts. Data analysis consisted of univariate analysis and bivariate analysis with a paired t-test. The design of the rotating wheel educational game tool is attractive, and the colors vary. The average knowledge obtained before and after the intervention was 7.13 and 11.45, while the average attitude before and after the intervention was 37.23 and 44.06. The results showed that there was an average change in knowledge (p-value = 0.0001) and attitude (p-value = 0.0001). The conclusion of this study is that there are changes in the knowledge and attitudes of elementary school children toward myopia prevention efforts at Al-Azhar 32 elementary school in Padang. It is hoped that the school will follow up by incorporating education on myopia prevention efforts with a rotating wheel educational game into UKS activities at school.

Abstract

The working area of the Sirukam Public Health Center, Payung Sekaki Subdistrict, Solok Regency, is a region with the highest prevalence of stunting in the area. This issue is closely related to the low quality of nutritional parenting practices among housewives, particularly in the utilization and processing of local food ingredients. This community service activity aims to implement nutritional parenting practices to support stunting prevention in toddlers. The methods used include education, discussions, and hands-on practice in preparing nutritious meals for toddlers using local food ingredients. The intervention was carried out in three villages using a training and household mentoring approach. Evaluation was conducted through pre-tests and post-tests to measure the improvement in knowledge and skills of mothers with toddlers. The results showed a significant increase in mothers' knowledge regarding the provision of balanced nutritious food for toddlers, from 42.9% (good) before the intervention to 76.3% afterward. In conclusion, intensive and continuous mentoring proved effective in improving mothers' abilities in nutritional parenting for toddlers and holds great potential in supporting efforts to accelerate stunting reduction in the area.
