Abstract

This study examines the transformation of the role of da’i within BAZNAS of Dharmasraya Regency, where their function has expanded beyond the delivery of religious messages to encompass strategic responsibilities in the collection and management of zakat. The research seeks to analyze how this functional transformation occurs and to assess its effectiveness in increasing the potential collection of zakat, infak, and sadaqah (ZIS). Employing a qualitative methodology with a transformative approach, this study adopts the Community-Based Research (CBR) model, which emphasizes active collaboration among researchers, da’i, and local communities in identifying challenges and formulating context-sensitive solutions. Data were generated through participatory engagement, enabling an in-depth understanding of the social and institutional dynamics surrounding zakat management. The findings indicate that the repositioning of da’i as zakat executors has significantly enhanced collective community awareness of the religious and social importance of zakat, while also strengthening zakat management systems grounded in local culture and community potential. Furthermore, the integration of cultural approaches and managerial capacity-building initiatives has proven effective in reinforcing the role of da’i as agents of social change, particularly in promoting community empowerment and sustainable zakat governance.

Abstract

This study analyzes the relationship between social structure and women's decision to work as farm laborers in Batipuah Baruah Village. In rural communities that rely heavily on the agricultural sector, women often face complex challenges in choosing their professions. This research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive design, involving in-depth interviews with women who work as farm laborers. The results indicate that although economic needs are the primary factor, women's decisions to enter the agricultural sector are also influenced by social structures, such as gender inequality, limited access to resources, social norms related to family roles, and geographical constraints that restrict employment opportunities. Additionally, women farm laborers in Batipuah Baruah Village demonstrate remarkable resilience and creativity in addressing various challenges, such as low wages and heavy workloads. This study concludes that social structures not only shape women's economic choices but also reinforce patterns of gender inequality in the workplace. Thus, changes in social structures are necessary to provide women with greater access to resources and equal employment opportunities.

Abstract

The main problem in this thesis is communication dynamics in Long Distance Marriage among couples employed at UIN Mahmud Yunus Batusangkar, Indonesia, focusing on the processes and management strategies they employ to maintain their relationships. The primary aim is to analyze these interactions and coping mechanisms within this specific context. Employing a qualitative phenomenological approach, the study gathered data through observation, interviews, and documentation from affected couples, followed by analysis involving data collection, reduction, presentation, and verification, with source triangulation ensuring validity. Drawing on DeVito's (2013) interpersonal communication theory, key findings reveal five essential communication processes: leveraging technology, scheduling interactions, fostering transparency and honesty, addressing emotional challenges, and planning physical meetings. Management strategies include discussing conflicts, celebrating significant dates together, sharing nightly stories, setting common goals, and conducting ongoing evaluations and adjustments. However, couples encounter obstacles such as time constraints, communication barriers, and fatigue, alongside broader challenges like achieving work-life balance, providing emotional support, and facilitating career development.
