Abstract

Scientific reasoning patterns of students formal operational base on the implementation of problem solving heuristic methods has been obtained. The aim of this research is knowing the influence of heuristic problem solving method that has been designed on practicum sheet of discovery learning model to develop scientific reasoning of students. The samples are 32 students in junior high school at 11-13 years old. The methods are CTSR test of scientific reasoning by Lawson and interview. The research design is one grup pretest-posttest. The results indicated that problem solving heuristic methods can be a factor to develop scientific reasoning of students. The lowest level of scientific reasoning (concrete reasoning pattern) is decrease 34,38%. The middle level of scientific reasoning (transitional reasoning pattern) is increase 31,25%. The highest level of scientific reasoning (formal reasoning pattern) is increase 3,13%. Heuristic methods helping students to develop scientific skills, such as setting hypotheses, modifying variables, and analyzing results of research. The scientific reasoning pattern can not be classified by age. People who has older of age has not impact in high scientific reasoning level than younger people. If someone fail on concrete aspect, it is not necessarily that person will be fail in formal aspect.

Abstract

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze the problem solving ability of harmonic motion material. Problem solving skills are one of the important components of learning. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the extent of student problem solving skills. The method used in this study is a descriptive analysis method with data collection techniques using the instrument of the description problem along with aspects of problem solving capability assessment. The subjects of this study were 24 physics education students who had obtained harmonic motion material. The results showed that students had difficulty in harmonic motion material. In the first phase of useful description, the average problem-solving ability of students was only 41.21%. The second stage of physics approach, the average student ability of 32.24%. The third phase of the specific application of physics, the average student's ability is only 14.21%. The fourth stage of mathematical procedure, student ability by 10.11%, the fifth stage of logical progession averages student ability by 2.23%. Therefore, it can be said that problem solving skills are still relatively low, so learning is needed that can improve students' problem solving skills. Based on the results of the analysis, it can be concluded that the most common mistakes made by students in solving physics problems are errors in the process of conveying results and assessing solutions. Mistakes that are rarely made by students are mistakes in understanding problems by using correct representations.

Abstract

This research's aim is to know about HOTS questions of Physics in try out of National Examination and HOTS's students of Junior High School Muhammadiyah 1 Wonosobo. The research type was descriptive research, and the research used analysis technique. This technique is done by analyze question documents and students' answer sheet of trying out of Physics National Examination HOTS students of Muhammadiyah 1 Wonosobo junior high school. The subjects in this study were students of class IX Muhammadiyah 1 Wonosobo junior high school in the academic year 2019/2020 with 126 students. The data obtained in the form of a percentage of HOTS type questions and the percentage of students absorption of the results of working out the try out problem. Based on the analysis of the data that has been done, obtained by the category of HOTS is 23.5%, namely in the C4 aspects and the absorption of students by 28.5% with the category is not good. Therefore, it can be concluded that type of HOTS questions in the tryout of Physics National Examination has poor distribution.

Abstract

This study aims to produce e-learning teaching materials that can be used to improve students' conceptual understanding. Teaching materials were made using scratch, which are integrated into web with the subject of physics subject waves for class XI. The type of research was Research and Development. The teaching materials developed have been implemented on a small scale, which was class XI students at MA Uswatun Hasanah Semarang. Data collection was carried out by giving the teacher a feasibility sheet for teaching materials. Data on students' conceptual understanding abilities were obtained from the results of pretest and posttest on a small scale, namely students of class XI MA Uswatun Hasanah Semarang and by looking for student or teacher responses to the teaching materials developed. Based on the experts and teachers’ assessment, the teaching materials developed were feasible. The implementation of teaching materials in physics learning on wave materials showed that the increase in students' conceptual understanding in the experimental class by using scratch-assisted e-learning teaching materials got a score of 0.52 (medium) better than the control class which used student worksheets to get a score of 0,34 (medium). In addition, students and teachers responded well to the developed teaching materials.
