Abstract

This study aims to identify interventions that can be used in managing symptoms of post-chemotherapy nausea and vomiting in cancer patients. The method used was a systematic review by searching five databases including Google Scholar, Portal Garuda, Moraref, and Demension regarding what interventions can be done in dealing with nausea and vomiting conditions in cancer patients, with a publication range from 2000 to 2024. 7131 articles were obtained at the beginning of the data search, after filtering with the PRISMA 2020 method, the final result was 8 articles to be analysed using the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) checklist. Seven of these articles used intervention studies. The results of the study showed that there are several interventions that can be carried out. One of the most frequently used interventions is acupressure intervention and the use of aromatherapy in overcoming nausea and vomiting of cancer patients after chemotherapy. It is expected that nurses who work in the chemotherapy room can apply this intervention to patients who experience post-chemotherapy nausea and vomiting.

Abstract

Fatigue is one of the most common side effects experienced by cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy and has a serious impact on quality of life. Massage therapy has emerged as a potential non-pharmacological intervention to alleviate this symptom. Objective: To systematically review the effectiveness of massage therapy in reducing fatigue among cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy. Methods: This study employed a systematic review design based on the PRISMA guidelines. Literature was searched through PubMed, ScienceDirect, ProQuest, and Google Scholar databases. Articles published in English or Indonesian in the last 10 years (2014–2024). Included articles were randomized controlled trials (RCTs), quasi-experimental studies, or clinical trials evaluating the effects of massage therapy on fatigue in cancer patients. 139 Articles were founds and 10 article were selected. Study quality was assessed using the CASP tool, and data were analyzed descriptively. Results: A total of 10 studies met the inclusion criteria. Findings showed that massage therapy—including slow-stroke back massage, Swedish massage, hand and foot massage, and combinations with aromatherapy—was effective in reducing fatigue. The effectiveness was influenced by the type of massage, duration, and frequency of the intervention. Conclusion: Massage therapy is an effective intervention that can be integrated into clinical care to reduce fatigue in chemotherapy patients. Further research is needed to strengthen the existing evidence.

Abstract

Background: Fatigue is one of the most common and disturbing symptoms experienced by cancer patients during and after treatment. Reflexology as a complementary intervention is increasingly being studied for its ability to improve the quality of life of patients, including reducing fatigue. Purpose: To systematically review the effectiveness of reflexology therapy in reducing fatigue levels in cancer patients based on the latest scientific evidence. Methods: A systematic literature search was conducted in PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar databases using the keywords “reflexology”, “cancer”, and “fatigue”. Included articles were quantitative studies published in 2015–2024 using reflexology interventions in cancer patients, and measuring fatigue as one of the main variables. Article selection followed the PRISMA guidelines, and the final eight studies were analyzed qualitatively. Results: Eight articles were analyzed, seven of which showed significant results that reflexology therapy can significantly reduce fatigue. The types of cancer studied varied, ranging from breast, lung, colorectal, to gynecological cancer. Reflexology therapy was carried out with a frequency of between two and five times per week for two to six weeks. Although there was one study that did not show significant results, overall reflexology therapy was considered effective and safe as a complementary approach. Conclusion: Reflexology therapy has been shown to be generally effective in reducing fatigue in cancer patients. This intervention can be part of a holistic approach to cancer care.   Keywords: Cancer; Complementary Therapy; Fatigue; Reflection Therapy.   Pendahuluan: Fatigue merupakan salah satu gejala paling umum dan mengganggu yang dialami pasien kanker selama dan setelah menjalani pengobatan. Abstract

Hypertensive clients are at risk of experiencing anxiety that affects their quality of life. Treatment of hypertension takes a long time, the condition decreases with age, and the need for adaptation to the condition of the illness, will cause psychosocial problems in people with chronic diseases such as hypertension. Physical treatment alone is not enough, because the occurrence of hypertension and anxiety problems affect each other. The purpose of this final scientific paper is to provide an overview of the application of psychological nursing therapy, supportive therapy and psychoeducation of anxiety problems in hypertensive clients using a transcultural nursing approach. This scientific work uses a case study method, data collection using an anxiety symptom instrument and the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS). Psychiatric nursing actions were given to 19 hypertensive clients with anxiety nursing problems. The results of the application reduced the mean signs and symptoms of anxiety in the intervention group with supportive therapy and psychoeducation by 41.5%. The decrease in the mean difference in anxiety level scores from moderate anxiety to not anxiety is 13.8. Meanwhile, in the control group, only family psychoeducation was given to decrease the symptoms of 39.6% and the difference in the mean score of the anxiety level was 11.3. The conclusion is that both groups experienced a decrease in symptoms and scores on anxiety levels, but the score decreased more in the client group after being given family psychoeducation with supportive therapy. This final scientific paper recommends that the puskesmas can continue nursing actions for supportive group therapy on an ongoing basis, to reduce signs and symptoms and the level of attention in hypertensive clients.
