Abstract

After 78 years of being subject to the Dutch legal legacy of Wetboek van Strafrecht (WvS), on December 6, 2022, Indonesia officially separated itself from Law Number 1 of 1946. Article 51 of Law Number 1 of 2023 contains the new concept of judicial pardon, a new addition to Indonesian criminal law. This study aims to analyse the formulation of the concept of judicial pardon in Law Number 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code (KUHP) and examine indications of abuse of power by judges in the formulation of judicial pardon. This study employs a juridical-normative research method, which involves a legal review of the Law Number 1 of 2023, a conceptual approach to analyse the objectives and direction of policy, and a comparative approach to examine the formulation of judicial pardon in various countries. The study utilizes secondary data or library research. Based on the conducted discussion, it is evident that the concept of judicial pardon has been in existence for a considerable amount of time and has been implemented in various countries. We should guide Indonesia's adoption of the judicial pardon concept by studying its formulation in various other countries. Law Number 1 of 2023 formulation of the concept of judicial pardon is still considered incomplete, ambiguous, multi-interpretable, and susceptible to legal abuse. As a result, the concept of judicial pardon can potentially be misused by judges who have personal interests, resulting in abuse of pardon power, particularly in corruption cases.

Abstract

Background: Loss of limbs due to amputation can cause physical limitations for an individual to carry out activities in daily life. This limitation reduces the level of independence of an individual. The decreased level of independence has an impact on the level of self-confidence due to obstacles in carrying out an activity or goal. Efforts that can be made to increase the self-confidence of transtibial amputation patients are by installing a transtibial prosthesis or axilla crutch which can help mobility. The purpose of this study was to determine the difference in the effect of using a transtibial prosthesis and axilla crutch on the level of self-confidence. Method: This study was conducted in December 2023 with a descriptive qualitative approach using data analysis, namely data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. Results: The results of observations and interviews using self-confidence indicators, namely believing in one's own abilities, being able to do activities without the help of others, having a positive self-concept and daring to express feelings that are felt, which were carried out on two informants, showed that the presence of this transtibial prosthesis was able to foster a new spirit to carry out activities as before. Conclusion: From this study it can be concluded that there is a better effect of using a transtibial prosthesis compared to an axillary crutch.

Abstract

The increasingly fierce competition in the world of work has an impact on people getting jobs. The condition makes most people become migrants by traveling to other countries to find a job for a decent life in the future. However, the work that migrant workers get is often not as expected, so the rights of migrants are often not fulfilled. The amount of violence in the world of work and the non-fulfillment of the rights of migrant workers in Italy is an act that violates human rights. Therefore, the authors wrote this article by using normative legal research method to analyze migrant workers in Italy who are exploited by forced labor and the lack of protection regarding the minimum wage for migrant workers and also aims to analyze the role of the International Labour Organization as an organization that protects the rights of migrant workers, including protection from violence and protection of the minimum wage for migrant workers in Italy. The result shows that there is an urgency for Italy to ratify the Minimum Wage Convention on the grounds that it diminishes the exploitation of migrant workers and provides binding legal force for the sake of migrant workers.

Abstract

Introduction: The alterations that occur in the vertebrae are Kyphosis, Lordosis, and Scoliosis. Kyphosis affects the majority of the elderly. Kyphosis is a type of deformity wherein the human spine becomes bent. The most frequent alterations in the vertebrae are atilted head forward (cervical kyphosis), an increase in the thoracic kyphosis curve, a flattened lumbar curve (lumbar kyphosis), and a reduction in the width of the intervertebral discus, resulting in a lower height. The focus of this research was to study the effects of TLSO on vertebral alignment postures in older people with kyphosis. Method: This research is a quasi-experimental research with one group pre and posttest design techniques. This research was conducted from March to October 2021 at the PosyanduLansia Sawahan, Ngemplak, Boyolali. Elderly who meet the requirements for this research subject include up to 30 elderly people. Each study subject will receive the TLSO intervention and then assess their spinal alignment before and after treatment.Paired Samples T-test was used to analyze the data in this study. Result: The application of TLSO had a statistically significant effect on alignment before and after the intervention (t = 35.98, mean difference = 8.34, and p value = 0.000). Conclusion: The use of TLSO has an impact on reducing spinal curvature so it is good for maintaining body posture according to normal alignment.

Methods and Subjects: This research was conducted from March to April in Mojopuro Village, Sragen Regency using a quantitative research method using a quasi-experimental one group pre-test and post-test design. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling. The subjects used were all farmers who experienced knee pain. Results: A statistical analysis with a p-value 0.000 less than 0.05 revealed that using a knee decker had a substantial impact on lowering the severity of knee pain in farmers by 43% from a sample of 25 people who had knee pain Conclusion: There is an effect of using a knee decker to reduce the degree of knee pain in farmers, so that increasing mobility and ability to work.

Abstract

Background: Running performance is influenced by environmental and geographical factors, particularly terrain variations like slopes in trail running. Such conditions increase injury risk, especially to the lower extremities, with the knee joint being highly vulnerable. Knee deckers—elastic supports available in multiple sizes—are designed to mitigate injury risks by enhancing joint flexibility, providing stabilization, and reducing pain during daily activities or sports. Aim: To evaluate the effectiveness of knee deckers in alleviating knee pain among trail runners. Methods: A quasi-experimental study with a one-group pretest-posttest design was conducted. From a population of 163 trail runners, 30 participants were selected via purposive sampling based on inclusion/exclusion criteria. Pain levels were assessed before and after knee decker use. Results: Wilcoxon test analysis revealed a statistically significant reduction in knee pain (p = 0.000, p < 0.05), confirming the intervention’s effectiveness. Conclusion: Knee deckers significantly reduce knee pain in trail runners, supporting their utility for injury prevention and pain management.

Abstract

This article investigates the crisis of public trust in Indonesia’s Constitutional Court, triggered by a series of controversial decisions that suggest the practice of abusive judicial review. It focuses on three pivotal rulings, Decision No. 90/PUU-XXI/2023, that collectively reveal a pattern of judicial behavior aligned with executive interests, undermining judicial independence and constitutional integrity. Utilizing a normative legal research method with statute, conceptual, and analytical approaches, the study critically examines how judicial overreach, ethical breaches, and procedural irregularities have contributed to institutional decay. The findings indicated that the Constitutional Court has shifted from its role as a counter-majoritarian institution to a political instrument, eroding legal certainty and democratic accountability. The involvement of justices in conflicts of interest, particularly in election-related cases, has intensified public skepticism and revealed systemic weaknesses in judicial appointment and oversight mechanisms. This paper argued that such decisions constitute a form of “abusive judicial review” that threatens Indonesia’s constitutional democracy. To restore judicial legitimacy, structural reforms are imperative, emphasizing transparent judicial recruitment, permanent ethical oversight bodies, and stronger civil society engagement. The article concluded that without substantial reform, the erosion of public trust may further delegitimize the Court as a guardian of the Constitution.
