Abstract

Go organic in 2010 is a program launched by the government to produce organic agricultural products. The organic red chili plant is one of the products of the go organic program in 2010 which has high economic value, so it is necessary to increase the red chili plant the productivity. The use of local microorganisms can be used as an alternative in producing organic chili products. This study aims to determine the effect of type and dose of the best local microorganism on the growth and yield of chili. The study used a factorial randomized block design consisting of two factors. The first factor was local microorganisms (P) type consisting of 3 levels: P1(vegetables), P2(tomatoes), and P3(vegetables and tomatoes), the second factor was local microorganisms (D) dose consisting of 5 levels: D0: 0 cc/L of water, D1: 25 cc/L, D2: 50 cc/L, D3: 75 cc/L, D4: 100 cc/L. The results showed that P3D1 is the best treatment in increasing plant height, flowers number and accelerating 80% flowering age. Treatment of MOL P1 type and 25 cc/L dose is the best treatment in increasing the chili plants diameter. P3D4 is the best treatment in increasing the chilies wet weight per plant.

Abstract

Shallots are a horticultural commodity with high economic value because shallots are always used in almost every dish. The importance of knowledge about shallot cultivation technology according to the agroecosystem has yet to be fully distributed at the Bantang Cama Farmers Group in Manggarai Regency. The targets to be achieved from this PKM program are increasing the skills of farmer groups in Waso Village regarding the cultivation of Bima Brebes shallots, as well as the results of adaptation of Bima Brebes shallots through the implementation of cultivation carried out in the highlands. Service activities were carried out in the "Bantang Cama" farmer group in Waso Village, Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara, with 36 participants. They went through the stages of field observation, literature study, outreach, demonstration, and evaluation. The evaluation was carried out using a pretest and posttest to measure the improvement in the skills of the farmer group and see the results of the Bima Brebes shallots that had been cultivated. The results of the service showed that the skills of the farmer group after participating in the socialization increased from 38.50% to 87.60%. Bima Brebes shallots produced low plant height, number of leaves, and tillers. This shows a mechanism of low adaptability to the agroecosystem, the highlands in Waso Village.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of soaking duration of shallot bulbs using Local Microorganisms (MOL) on seed viability and vigor during the early growth phase. The research was conducted at the Agrotechnology Laboratory, Unit Stiper Petra Baliem Wamena, from April to August 2018 using a Completely Randomized Block Design (CRBD) with six MOL soaking duration treatments: 0 minutes (control), 30 minutes, 60 minutes, 90 minutes, 120 minutes, and 150 minutes, each repeated four times. The observed parameters included germination percentage, maximum growth potential, growth rate, plant height, and number of leaves at 14 days after planting (DAP). The results showed that MOL soaking treatments influenced the viability and vigor of shallot seeds. The highest germination percentage was obtained at the 60-minute treatment (95%), while maximum growth potential was relatively uniform across almost all treatments (100%). The highest growth rate was observed at the 150-minute soaking duration (85.57%), whereas the control treatment produced the lowest value (57.23%). Early vegetative growth also showed the best response at the 60-minute treatment, with plant height reaching 7.50 cm and the number of leaves reaching 10.75 at 14 DAPS.

Abstract

The growing medium is a crucial component that determines the success of plant growth and development, particularly in hydroponic cultivation systems, which rely heavily on the physical and chemical conditions of the medium. Selecting the right growing medium plays a role in providing optimal mechanical support, aeration, and water and nutrient retention capacity for plants. This study aimed to analyze the effect of different growing media types on the growth of hydroponically cultivated strawberry seedlings. The study was conducted using a randomized block design with one treatment factor, namely the growing medium type. The treatments tested consisted of Carbonized rice husk (SB), cocopeat (CP), and a combination of carbonized rice husk and cocopeat (SBC) with certain compositions. The growth parameters observed included the number of leaves, root length, plant height, and the number of productive shoots. The results showed that the use of a growing medium mixture of burnt rice husks and cocopeat with a ratio of 1:3 provided the best results for several growth variables. This treatment resulted in an average number of leaves of 9.86 and a root length of 16.7 cm, which was statistically significantly different compared to other growing media treatments. These findings indicate that the combination of media provides optimal rooting conditions, particularly in terms of aeration and water-holding capacity. However, differences in growing media type did not significantly impact plant height and the number of productive shoots. Therefore, it can be concluded that growing media selectively influences certain growth components in hydroponic strawberries.
