Abstract

Currently, the internet is one of the essential and user-friendly sources of information, even by students at the school. On the other hand, internet users also run the risk of obtaining inaccurate information or hoaxes. This study aimed to determine the behavior of using the internet as a source of information by Senior High School students (SMA), considering high school students began to be exposed to the internet when writing simple research reports. The research method used was documentation with a quantitative approach, namely by observing some written works of students from grade X (first year) of the State Senior High School 8 Yogyakarta in the 2016/2017 and 2017/2018 school year. The student's essay consists of three disciplines, namely biological science, engineering, and technology, as well as social science and humanities. The study focused on sources of information from the internet used in the scientific papers. Each paper’s list of reference was analyzed by grouping internet citations. Results showed that from 166 sample papers, the internet dominated the reference sources listed in the bibliography, with a percentage of around 60%. The types of internet sites that were widely cited by students were blogs, repositories, and general websites. More than 95% of sites used were in the Indonesian language. In conclusion, senior high school students need further assistance in accessing the internet, primarily to identify valid sources of information and avoid dubious information sources.

Abstract

Portfolio is a type of investment consists of several assets, such as stocks. Single index model is a portfolio optimization method that uses the market index value to calculate beta as a measure of asset’s performance. However, there are several market index available in Indonesia Stock Exchange. In this study, we examine and compare the performance of several market index to the portfolio’s performance that calculated using Single-Index Model. We choose several stocks that used in several market index, obtain the return data, and obtain the beta using several market index. The calculation of the optimal portfolio were repeated using 15 sets of data to obtain consistency. Based on the empirical study, we obtain that the way to choose the market index could affect the estimated beta as well as its standard error. However, it has a very small effect on the weight and the performance of the optimal portfolio.

Abstract

Literasi statistika merupakan kemampuan penting untuk menghadapi revolusi industri 4.0. Penelitian ini mengumpulkan informasi sejauh mana kemampuan literasi statistika didukung oleh kurikulum matematika untuk Sekolah Dasar di Indonesia. Studi dokumentasi dilakukan pada beberapa naskah kurikulum, yakni Kurikulum Berbasis Kompetensi 2004, Kurikulum Tingkat Satuan Pendidikan 2006, Kurikulum 2013, serta revisi Kurikulum 2013 (2016, 2018, dan 2020). Sebagai pembanding, dianalisis pula Cambridge Primary Mathematics Curriculum dan kurikulum 1975. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perhitungan statistik deskriptif dan pembuatan diagram dijumpai pada semua kurikulum matematika SD tahun 2004 hingga 2020. Pada kurikulum 2013 dan sesudahnya, dijumpai pula kompetensi terkait pengumpulan data dan interpretasi data. Adapun kompetensi terkait peluang hanya dijumpai pada kurikulum 2013, Cambridge, dan kurikulum 1975. Masih diperlukan pengembangan kurikulum pada kompetensi proses pemecahan masalah statistika serta pendalaman terkait penggunaan statistik deskriptif dan diagram secara tepat. Statistical literacy is an essential competence to face the 4.0 industrial revolution. This study aims to collect information on how statistical literacy skills accounted in the Indonesian primary school mathematics curriculum. We study several curriculum documents' that had been used in Indonesia, namely the 2004 Competency-Based Curriculum, the 2006 Education Unit Level Curriculum, the 2013 Curriculum, and the revised 2013 Curriculum (2016, 2018, and 2020). We also analyzed the Cambridge Primary Mathematics Curriculum and the 1975 Indonesian curriculum. We find that calculation of descriptive statistics and chart making appeared on all Indonesian primary school mathematics curricula. The 2013 curriculum and its successor also contains some competencies related to data collection and interpretation. Probability-related competence is found only on the 2013 curriculum, the 1975 curriculum, and the Cambridge Curriculum. Further curriculum development should be focused on the statistical problem-solving competence and appropriate use of descriptive statistics and charts.

Abstract

Adanya sumber data ilmu sosial dan pendidikan di media online membuat siapapun dapat menggunakannya untuk berbagai kepentingan. Data di media online tersebut dapat diperoleh dengan berbagai cara, salah satunya dengan scraping data. Data penelitian di bidang ilmu sosial dan pendidikan yang diperoleh tersebut tidak hanya berupa data terstruktur, akan tetapi dapat berupa data tidak terstruktur. Penanganan ketidakteraturan variabel atau kurang informatifnya variabel dapat dilakukan dengan teknik wrangling data, yang membuat data siap dianalisis. Data mentah ataupun data yang telah dianalisis dapat dikomunikasikan dengan cara yang tepat. Cara atau teknik tersebut adalah teknik visualisasi data. Oleh karena itu, dilakukan kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat dalam bentuk workshop visualisasi data untuk penelitian di bidang ilmu sosial dan pendidikan. Kegiatan ini diikuti oleh mahasiswa dari berbagai program studi baik diploma, sarjana, dan pascasarjana, serta Dosen di Universitas Halu Oleo. Workshop dilaksanakan secara daring selama dua hari dengan metode pemberian materi dan demo perangkat lunak R. Pelatihan ini diawali dengan teknik scraping data dan wrangling data, lalu dilanjutkan materi berbagai teknik visualisasi data terstruktur. Pada hari kedua, materi yang disampaikan adalah praktik berbagai teknik visualisasi data terstruktur, yang kemudian diikuti sesi keempat yakni pemberian materi dan demo terkait teknik visualisasi data tidak terstruktur. Berdasarkan hasil angket, pengamatan dan tanya jawab dengan peserta pelatihan, tampak bahwa peserta antusias mengikuti kegiatan workshop ini. Peserta dapat memahami konsep dan dapat menggunakan perintah-perintah scraping data, wrangling data, dan visualisasi data terstruktur dan tidak terstruktur.

Abstract

Data obtained from social science and education research is often in the form of categorical data, namely nominal or ordinal. This makes the parametric approach less appropriate for use in some social science and education data. One solution is to use a nonparametric approach. This underlies the holding of community service activities in a workshop on comparison analysis of k population with a nonparametric approach for social science research and education. Participants in this workshop consisted of academics and practitioners, and students from various study programs in Indonesia. The workshop was carried out by providing material and demonstrating using R software as an analytical tool, which was held online for two days. On the first day, the material presented was a nonparametric approach to the comparison of k independent populations along with a demonstration of using R software, while for k dependent populations along with a demonstration of using R software was given on the second day. Participants were given data on social sciences and education in providing materials and demos of the R software. Based on the results of questionnaires, observations, and questions and answers, participants seemed enthusiastic in participating in the R software's material and demo sessions. In addition, participants can perform various tests in a nonparametric approach for k independent and dependent populations using the R software. Participants can also provide an accurate interpretation of the output of the R software.

Abstract

Penelitian-penelitian di bidang ilmu sosial dan pendidikan seringkali melibatkan variabel-variabel respon dengan tipe kategorik, yang memerlukan analisis menggunakan regresi logistik. Dibandingkan regresi linear, model regresi logistik lebih kompleks dalam hal pengolahan maupun interpretasinya. Oleh karena itulah, dilakukan kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat dalam bentuk workshop analisis regresi logistik untuk penelitian di bidang ilmu sosial dan pendidikan. Kegiatan ini diikuti oleh praktisi lulusan S1 dan mahasiswa berbagai program studi pascasarjana di Indonesia. Workshop dilaksanakan secara daring selama dua hari dengan metode pemberian materi dan demo program R secara langsung. Pelatihan ini diawali dengan visualisasi data kategorik lalu dilanjutkan materi regresi logistik biner dengan prediktor kontinu pada hari pertama. Pada hari kedua, materi yang disampaikan adalah regresi logistik biner dengan prediktor kategorik dan regresi logistik dengan prediktor kategorik dan kontinu. Data yang digunakan sebagai contoh adalah data dalam penelitian ilmu sosial dan pendidikan. Berdasarkan hasil angket, pengamatan dan tanya jawab dengan peserta pelatihan, tampak bahwa peserta bersemangat mengikuti kegiatan pelatihan ini. Peserta dapat menggunakan perintah-perintah analisis regresi logistik untuk data penelitian ilmu sosial dan pendidikan serta dapat memberikan interpretasi dari output program R secara tepat.

Abstract

Membaca merupakan salah satu kemampuan esensial dan dipelajari dalam pendidikan formal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperdalam hasil tes Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) 2018 pada siswa di Indonesia, khususnya terkait aspek kognitif literasi baca yang terdiri dari kemampuan menemukan informasi dalam bacaan, kemampuan memahami bacaan, serta kemampuan melakukan evaluasi dan refleksi atas bacaan. Terdapat tiga prediktor yang digunakan, yakni jenjang pendidikan siswa, jenis kelamin siswa, serta growth mindset. Subjek penelitian kuantitatif ini adalah 12.098 siswa Indonesia yang menjadi peserta tes dan survei PISA 2018. Diperoleh informasi bahwa terjadi interaksi yang kuat antara jenis kelamin dan growth mindset serta antara jenjang pendidikan dan jenis kelamin terhadap literasi baca siswa. Secara umum dapat disimpulkan bahwa siswa laki-laki pada jenjang yang lebih tinggi dengan growth mindset memiliki literasi baca yang lebih baik. Oleh karena itu, upaya intervensi untuk meningkatkan literasi baca pada siswa perlu mempertimbangkan peningkatan growth mindset sebagai pengganti fixed mindset.

Abstract

Statistical literacy is an essential competence that people must face in the era of big data and Society 5.0. In Indonesia and several countries, statistics is taught as a list of competencies in mathematics subject in primary and secondary schools. This study aimed to identify whether statistical tasks in higher secondary school mathematics textbooks support statistical literacy. The qualitative data were collected via deductive content analysis, with a specific framework, toward five Compulsory Mathematics textbooks used in Indonesia. We found that statistical exercises and problems in these textbooks were dominated by data analysis type, emphasizing calculating statistics from raw data and its modification. Regarding data visualization, almost all textbooks introduced the histogram and ogive, while some also introduced the boxplot, stem-and-leaf plot, and dot plot. Improvement could be made by adding more exercises and problems related to the interpretation of statistics, evaluation of statistical results, and comparison of statistics from several data groups.

Abstract

Tourism in Indonesia is one of the most reliable sectors because it can increase economic growth. Foreign tourist visits to Indonesia fluctuate every month, so forecasting needs to be done in order to help the Indonesian government in making decisions regarding the development process of the tourism industry to be right on target, efficient, and effective. The purpose of this research is to compare the Lee, Chen, and Singh fuzzy time series methods in forecasting foreign tourist visits to Indonesia.The data used in this study are monthly data on the number of foreign tourist visits to Indonesia from July 2014 to December 2023. The methods used for forecasting are Lee's fuzzy time series method, Chen's fuzzy time series, and Singh's fuzzy time series. The results of this study obtained MAPE values for in-sample data of foreign tourist visits to Indonesia using the Lee, Chen, and Singh fuzzy time series methods are 9.81%, 10.35%, and 2.77%, respectively. The MAPE values for out-sample data of foreign tourist arrivals to Indonesia using the Lee, Chen, and Singh fuzzy time series methods are 12.99%, 13.35%, 0.80%, respectively. From the MAPE value of in-sample data and out-sample data, it can be concluded that Singh's fuzzy time series has the smallest error value, so Singh's fuzzy time series is better and more accurate in forecasting foreign tourist visits to Indonesia.

Abstract

Salah satu cara untuk mengukur keberhasilan pembangunan adalah melalui Indeks Pembangunan Manusia (IPM). Provinsi Jawa Tengah merupakan provinsi di Pulau Jawa dengan IPM terendah nomor dua. Penelitian ini memiliki tujuan untuk mengetahui pemodelan regresi spasial dengan pembobot spasial terbaik dalam menjelaskan faktor-faktor yang berpengaruh secara signifikan pada IPM di Provinsi Jawa Tengah tahun 2022 yang terdiri dari 29 kabupaten dan 6 kota. Variabel penelitian ini meliputi IPM, tingkat partisipasi angkatan kerja, upah minimum kabupaten/kota, dan jumlah penduduk miskin. Model regresi spasial dalam penelitian ini menggunakan dua pembobot spasial, yaitu pembobot spasial Queen Contiguity dan K-Nearest Neighbor. Penelitian ini menggunakan pemodelan Spatial Autoregressive (SAR), Spatial Error Model (SEM), dan Spatial Autoregressive Moving Average (SARMA). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa model regresi spasial terbaik pada penelitian ini adalah pemodelan SARMA dengan pembobot spasial K-Nearest Neighbor dengan nilai AIC sebesar 168,73. Variabel tingkat partisipasi angkatan kerja, upah minimum kabupaten/kota, dan jumlah penduduk miskin memiliki pengaruh terhadap IPM di Provinsi Jawa Tengah.
