Abstract

Currently, the internet is one of the essential and user-friendly sources of information, even by students at the school. On the other hand, internet users also run the risk of obtaining inaccurate information or hoaxes. This study aimed to determine the behavior of using the internet as a source of information by Senior High School students (SMA), considering high school students began to be exposed to the internet when writing simple research reports. The research method used was documentation with a quantitative approach, namely by observing some written works of students from grade X (first year) of the State Senior High School 8 Yogyakarta in the 2016/2017 and 2017/2018 school year. The student's essay consists of three disciplines, namely biological science, engineering, and technology, as well as social science and humanities. The study focused on sources of information from the internet used in the scientific papers. Each paper’s list of reference was analyzed by grouping internet citations. Results showed that from 166 sample papers, the internet dominated the reference sources listed in the bibliography, with a percentage of around 60%. The types of internet sites that were widely cited by students were blogs, repositories, and general websites. More than 95% of sites used were in the Indonesian language. In conclusion, senior high school students need further assistance in accessing the internet, primarily to identify valid sources of information and avoid dubious information sources.

Abstract

Portfolio is a type of investment consists of several assets, such as stocks. Single index model is a portfolio optimization method that uses the market index value to calculate beta as a measure of asset’s performance. However, there are several market index available in Indonesia Stock Exchange. In this study, we examine and compare the performance of several market index to the portfolio’s performance that calculated using Single-Index Model. We choose several stocks that used in several market index, obtain the return data, and obtain the beta using several market index. The calculation of the optimal portfolio were repeated using 15 sets of data to obtain consistency. Based on the empirical study, we obtain that the way to choose the market index could affect the estimated beta as well as its standard error. However, it has a very small effect on the weight and the performance of the optimal portfolio.

Abstract

Membaca merupakan salah satu kemampuan esensial dan dipelajari dalam pendidikan formal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperdalam hasil tes Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) 2018 pada siswa di Indonesia, khususnya terkait aspek kognitif literasi baca yang terdiri dari kemampuan menemukan informasi dalam bacaan, kemampuan memahami bacaan, serta kemampuan melakukan evaluasi dan refleksi atas bacaan. Terdapat tiga prediktor yang digunakan, yakni jenjang pendidikan siswa, jenis kelamin siswa, serta growth mindset. Subjek penelitian kuantitatif ini adalah 12.098 siswa Indonesia yang menjadi peserta tes dan survei PISA 2018. Diperoleh informasi bahwa terjadi interaksi yang kuat antara jenis kelamin dan growth mindset serta antara jenjang pendidikan dan jenis kelamin terhadap literasi baca siswa. Secara umum dapat disimpulkan bahwa siswa laki-laki pada jenjang yang lebih tinggi dengan growth mindset memiliki literasi baca yang lebih baik. Oleh karena itu, upaya intervensi untuk meningkatkan literasi baca pada siswa perlu mempertimbangkan peningkatan growth mindset sebagai pengganti fixed mindset.

Abstract

Statistical literacy is an essential competence that people must face in the era of big data and Society 5.0. In Indonesia and several countries, statistics is taught as a list of competencies in mathematics subject in primary and secondary schools. This study aimed to identify whether statistical tasks in higher secondary school mathematics textbooks support statistical literacy. The qualitative data were collected via deductive content analysis, with a specific framework, toward five Compulsory Mathematics textbooks used in Indonesia. We found that statistical exercises and problems in these textbooks were dominated by data analysis type, emphasizing calculating statistics from raw data and its modification. Regarding data visualization, almost all textbooks introduced the histogram and ogive, while some also introduced the boxplot, stem-and-leaf plot, and dot plot. Improvement could be made by adding more exercises and problems related to the interpretation of statistics, evaluation of statistical results, and comparison of statistics from several data groups.

Abstract

Salah satu cara untuk mengukur keberhasilan pembangunan adalah melalui Indeks Pembangunan Manusia (IPM). Provinsi Jawa Tengah merupakan provinsi di Pulau Jawa dengan IPM terendah nomor dua. Penelitian ini memiliki tujuan untuk mengetahui pemodelan regresi spasial dengan pembobot spasial terbaik dalam menjelaskan faktor-faktor yang berpengaruh secara signifikan pada IPM di Provinsi Jawa Tengah tahun 2022 yang terdiri dari 29 kabupaten dan 6 kota. Variabel penelitian ini meliputi IPM, tingkat partisipasi angkatan kerja, upah minimum kabupaten/kota, dan jumlah penduduk miskin. Model regresi spasial dalam penelitian ini menggunakan dua pembobot spasial, yaitu pembobot spasial Queen Contiguity dan K-Nearest Neighbor. Penelitian ini menggunakan pemodelan Spatial Autoregressive (SAR), Spatial Error Model (SEM), dan Spatial Autoregressive Moving Average (SARMA). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa model regresi spasial terbaik pada penelitian ini adalah pemodelan SARMA dengan pembobot spasial K-Nearest Neighbor dengan nilai AIC sebesar 168,73. Variabel tingkat partisipasi angkatan kerja, upah minimum kabupaten/kota, dan jumlah penduduk miskin memiliki pengaruh terhadap IPM di Provinsi Jawa Tengah.

Abstract

Indeks Pembangunan Manusia (IPM) merupakan salah satu ukuran keberhasilan pembangunan. Di Indonesia, IPM digunakan untuk mengukur keberhasilan pemerintah dalam hal pembangunan kesejahteraan manusia. Pada tahun 2021, IPM di Kabupaten/Kota Pulau Kalimantan masih banyak yang lebih rendah dibandingkan dengan rata-rata IPM di Indonesia yaitu 72,29. Oleh karena itu, perlu diketahui faktor-faktor yang memengaruhi IPM di setiap Kabupaten/Kota. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui faktor-faktor yang berpengaruh signifikan dan untuk mengetahui model Geographically Weighted Regression (GWR) dengan menggunakan fungsi pembobot terbaik berdasarkan data Kabupaten/Kota di Pulau Kalimantan. Model GWR bekerja dengan mengestimasi parameter dengan mempertimbangkan lokasi. Hasil penelitian berdasarkan model GWR terbaik yaitu model GWR dengan fungsi pembobot adaptive bi-square kernel diperoleh tujuh kelompok Kabupaten/Kota berdasarkan faktor yang berpengaruh. Kelompok dengan Kabupaten/Kota yang paling banyak dipengaruhi oleh faktor persentase penduduk miskin. Model GWR terbaik memperoleh nilai koefisien determinan (R2) sebesar 62,7%.

Abstract

Statistics data analysis generally focuses more on mathematical procedures than visual. Visual analysis is very useful for research and this is still very limited to study at Universitas Mercu Buana Yogyakarta, so the UNY Statistics lecturer's service activity is holding visual data analysis workshop with the R program, where this program is open source and is complete for visual analysis. The material for this activity is about procedures and uses for visual data analysis, introduction to the R program, data management with the R program, visual data analysis for group descriptions and comparisons, and visual data analysis for relationships between variables. Evaluation of participants' ability to understand the material is measured through 14 questions with four Likert Scale responses. Based on 40 questionnaires, 27,86% answered "Strongly Agree", 71,96% "Agree", and 0,18% "Disagree" regarding understanding and applying visual data analysis techniques with the R program. Therefore, it can be concluded that the majority of participants could understand the workshop material and follow the training well.

Abstract

Despite participating in PISA for more than 10 years, Indonesian students' mathematics achievements still tend to be low. On the other hand, PISA 2018 shows that students in two provinces, namely (1) Special Region of Yogyakarta, and (2) Special Region of Capital City Jakarta, exhibit higher mathematics achievement than students from other provinces. This research aim is to examine factors affecting students' mathematics performance in these three regions. We carried out statistical multilevel analysis with a random effects model using R software. Based on this analysis, we find differences in factors that influence students' mathematics achievement from three provinces. Variables that significantly influence students’ mathematics achievement in the three regions are parent support, home support, students' mastery goals, and students' competition. The only variables that were significant outside Special Region of Yogyakarta and Special Region of Capital City Jakarta were students' beliefs and students' ESCS. In the three provinces, the variables growth mindset, gender, and father's education level did not affect students' mathematics achievement.

Abstract

Saat ini masyarakat Indonesia memiliki minat yang cukup tinggi untuk investasi melalui reksa dana karena dirasa memberikan imbal hasil yang cukup tinggi. Untuk memaksimalkan hasil, investor perlu memilih reksa dana dengan kinerja yang baik. Kinerja reksa dana dapat diukur dengan menggunakan NAB reksa dana. NAB reksa dana dipengaruhi oleh faktor makroekonomi di Indonesia, misalnya Kurs, Suku Bunga, dan IHSG. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membuktikan pengaruh secara simultan dan parsial dari Kurs, Suku Bunga, dan IHSG terhadap NAB reksa dana tipe Fixed Income Fund, Global Fund, dan Money Market Fund. Data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu data nilai Kurs, Suku Bunga, IHSG, dan NAB reksa dana tipe Fixed Income Fund, Global Fund, dan Money Market Fund. Penelitian ini dilakukan menggunakan Metode Autoregressive Distributed Lag(ADL). Adapun tahapan yang dilakukan yaitu pengujian stasioneritas, uji kointegrasi, pemilihan lag optimum, pemodelan ADL jika tidak terdapat kointegrasi, dan uji asumsi klasik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa NAB Reksa Dana Fixed Income Fund dipengaruhi Suku Bunga secara negatif signifikan pada lag1 dan lag5, serta dipengaruhi suku bunga secara positif signifikan pada lag2. NAB Reksa Dana Global Fund tidak dipengaruhi secara signifikan oleh faktor ekonomi di Indonesia. NAB Money Market Fund dipengaruhi secara signifikan oleh NAB reksa dana Money Market Fund pada lag4, Suku Bunga pada lag5, Kurs pada lag1,dan IHSG pada lag3.

Abstract

Language learning strategy is one of the main factors that help determine how well our students learn a second or foreign language (Oxford, 2003). Research has shown that more effective language learners use more and better learning strategies than poorer language learners (Rubin, 1975; Stern, 1975). This research investigates the difference in ESL learning strategies used by students with different levels of ESL learner motivation and how gender plays a role in both. Strategy Inventory of Language Learning (SILL; Oxford, 1990) and English Language Learner Motivation Scale (ELLMS; Ardasheva, Tong and Tretter, 2012) were used and adopted to measure English language learning strategies and English language learner motivation, by employing 65 male students and 75 female students from Budi Utama Junior High School as participants. The data analyzed showed that there was significant difference in ESL learning strategies used by the students with different levels of ESL learner motivation but there is no significant role of gender in ESL learner motivation and ESL learning strategies.
