Abstract

Lately, the business development based on religion background, Islam, is growing and expanding. Besides banking, insurance, education, and others, the sharia concept also in hotel. Sharia hotel is an interesting phenomenon. On the other side, the appearance of sharia hotels in the nation is having two thumbs up. Sharia hotel brand, as in other sharia products, eventhough the target market is more specific and segmented, but it is possible that the product will have high demand not from Islamic community only. The article uses research method regarding trend analysis and literature review. The result showed that there is challenge towards sharia hotels to present concept, human resources and implementation that represents business figure based on sharia: eastern specialty, barokah, classy, and interesting.

Abstract

Jember becomes famous since the event of Jember Fashion Carnaval (JFC) which has been started since 2003. Along with the success of the JFC, Jember takes this moment to introduce the region as an attractive tourist destination in addition to JFC. Papuma beach is now a tourist icon of Jember. This beach offers a unique natural beauty as a combination of beach and forest. In the development of sustainable tourism, there are three pillars to note and they are environmental, economic and social. The purpose of this study is to determine the opinion of visitors to the state tourism Papuma Beach. This study uses descriptive qualitative approach by taking a more specific social dimension as an indicator, that is visitor satisfaction. In this study, beachgoers are asked to describe their experiences in Papuma Beach, by asking them some indicators, such as the existence of public transport, attraction, amenities, access, ancillary services, and experiences.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the potential of media photography as a means of support in an event practice, analyze photography as data source in identifying the event practice, explore photography as documentation that helps in event execution, examine photography as visual language that supports the event management. From the case of an event organized by Anugerah Bambu Indonesia 2013, results from the study finds that photography has an added value as a data source, documentation, and visual language. This study proves that the theory EMBOK by Silvers, who categorizes photography as information management for event management, a theory which can be accounted for.

Abstract

Reception staff loyalty is much influenced by several factors, one of them is job satisfaction. Employee job satisfaction plays important role in creating employee loyalty. For hoteliers who serve as provider of accommodation services, the demand for the creation of quality human resources is maximum achievement. One of the important section in the front office is receptionist. Today, hoteliers pay very close attention because the employee turnover will certainly affect the consistency of services offered by the hotel. Therefore, the hotel is getting active in increasing the satisfaction of its staff in order to minimize employee turnover especially in a very important role such the receptionist. Although the validity of the relationship between job satisfaction and reception staff loyalty is still an exciting debate, the result of the research conducted in the Hotel X is expected to help increase employee satisfaction in order to create quality of life that will improve labor productivity.

Abstract

As tourism grows fast and tourism destinations develops well all around the world, the human capital in the sectors are the most important component of its business which deliver services. The grow affects all aspects of business including hospitality industry. A multicultural working environment in hospitality industry has been practiced since decades due to its international character of business. The condition brought communication challenges to the internal operations more particularly in the front-line departments. This study aims to find out the challenges for foreign workers in the process of communication and how they overcome any communication problems that may occurred in their day-to-day operations in a multicultural hospitality working environment. Different cultures may press the communication problems while the business is about serving people and ensure that all the guest needs are provided well in timely manner. The research is conducted in a three-star-rated hotel in Japan with a multicultural environment and may give insights to the hoteliers who aspire to embrace their future career abroad. The findings are quite interesting since culture is taking the most important part to overcome and handle the situation as it aims to maintain a good working environment.
