Abstract

Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) is a complex and systemic autoimmune disease that can affect various organs and tissues in the body. With increasing prevalence and a significant impact on the quality of life of diagnosed individuals, a deep understanding of SLE is essential, especially among healthcare professionals. This study aims to explore the level of knowledge regarding SLE among nursing students, as well as the factors influencing their understanding. A quasi-experimental study was conducted with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The population consisted of 370 with 152 students recruited using incidental sampling. Video, poster, and leaflet as health promotion media, while a separate questionnaire was used to assess the respondents' knowledge before and after the intervention. Data analysis was performed using the marginal homogeneity test. The results showed that nearly half (48.0%) of the respondents had moderate knowledge about the prevention of autoimmune SLE before the health promotion, and the majority (67.1%) had good knowledge after the health promotion. The Marginal Homogeneity test results showed a p-value of 0.000, indicating that there was a significant effect of health promotion on knowledge about autoimmune SLE prevention. Improving nursing students' knowledge of SLE through comprehensive health promotion programs is crucial in encouraging effective preventive behavior. Future researchers are advised to investigate factors that can help in designing more effective educational interventions for patients.

Abstract

The increase in uric acid levels in the elderly (gout arthritis) can cause physical mobility impairments, requiring the role of nurses to address them. The aim of this study is to implement nursing care for physical mobility disorders through a combination therapy of warm ginger compresses and Range of Motion (ROM) exercises at Rumah Asuh Anak Lansia Griya Asih Lawang. The study design is a case study. The respondents were three elderly individuals with gout arthritis. The nursing interventions provided included identifying pain or other physical complaints, assessing physical tolerance for movement, monitoring blood pressure before starting mobilization, monitoring general conditions during mobilization, facilitating mobilization activities with assistive devices, providing non-pharmacological techniques to reduce pain (warm ginger compresses) for 10 consecutive days, facilitating ROM exercises for 10 consecutive days, explaining the objectives and procedures of mobilization, and teaching simple mobilization techniques to be performed. After intervention and nursing approach for 10 days, physical mobility disorders decreased as indicated by a decrease in acid levels in patient 1 with a value of 10.2 mg/dl, patient 2 9.4 mg/dl and patient 9.8 mg/dl as well as muscle strength in patients 1 5/5 and 5/4, patient 2 5/5 and 4/5, patient 3 5/4 and 4/4.  Warm ginger compress therapy and ROM exercises can be used as an intervention to reduce physical mobility disorders

Abstract

Introduction: Hypertension in the elderly is one of the growing global health problems. One of the influencing factors is the low consumption of vegetables high in potassium. This study aims to determine the relationship between consumption of high potassium vegetable types and the level of hypertension in the elderly. Methods: This study used a cross sectional design. Participants consisted of 44 elderly people with hypertension who were selected by accidental sampling technique from the elderly population who routinely conduct health checks at the first level health service facility. Inclusion criteria are elderly who have been diagnosed with hypertension and are willing to become respondents, while exclusion is elderly with communication disorders. The instrument used was a modified Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ), while a tensimeter was used to measure blood pressure. Data analysis was performed using the Spearman rho test. Results: Most respondents (65.9%) had high potassium vegetable consumption in the sufficient category. The majority of elderly people experienced prehypertension and stage 1 hypertension, each as much as 43.1%. The results of the analysis showed that there was a significant relationship between consumption of high potassium vegetable types and the level of hypertension in the elderly (p-value = 0.000; r = -0.253). Conclusion: Elderly people who have adequate vegetable consumption are associated with blood pressure problems. This study suggests the need for further research on the amount and portion of vegetable consumption and the use of more accurate food recording methods.

Abstract

Introduction: Cervical cancer screening has consistently proven effective in reducing both the incidence and mortality of cervical cancer. However, in many developing countries, including Indonesia, participation in screening programs remains considerably low. The primary objective of this study was to examine the intention toward cervical cancer screening and the associated factors among reproductive-aged women in Malang city, East Java, Indonesia. Methods: This study employed an observational analytic approach with a cross-sectional design. Researchers conducted the study with 410 participants selected through a simple random sampling technique in Malang. The study focused on cervical cancer screening intention as the dependent variable, while considering attitude, affordability of health services, and health worker support as independent variables. The data collection instrument utilized was a questionnaire comprising various aspects such as attitude, affordability of healthcare services, and health worker support. The researcher-designed questionnaire was guided by the PRECEDE-PROCEED Model. The data were analyzed through multiple linear regression. Results: The results revealed that favorable attitudes (B = .08, SE = .04, P-value = .026), affordable healthcare services (B = 1.06, SE = .19, P-value = < .001), and support from healthcare workers (B = .59, SE = .24, P-value = .013) were associated with an increased intention toward undergoing cervical cancer screening. Conclusion: This study highlights that favorable attitudes, affordable access to healthcare services, and adequate support from health workers are significantly associated with the intention to undergo cervical cancer screening among reproductive-aged women. Keywords: attitude; cervical cancer screening; health worker support; healthcare services; reproductive-aged women

Abstract

PKK RT 06 RW 09 is a forum for gathering mothers in the village of Tirtosari RT 06 RW9 Landungsari Malang, with 45 members. The location of the Tirtosari village is close to the Final Garbage Shelter (TPAS), so it was found that many mosquitoes and sometimes the smell of garbage enters residential areas. Garbage bank activities at that location have been inactive for a long time, and this community service was carried out as an effort to revive waste bank activities in Tirtosari Village. Lack of knowledge from PKK mothers, the perception that the house is dirty because of hoarding trash and reluctance to collect and sort waste are the problems faced by Servants. Community service activities which include counseling on waste management by the Village Garbage Bank Team and waste bank activities (collection, sorting, depositing, weighing and recording waste) are carried out smoothly. Even though the visit target was not met (only 22 of the 44 women who were planned to attend), this activity was able to increase waste bank visits (from 7 mothers to 20 mothers) who participated in waste bank activities. It is hoped that this activity can continue and provide benefits for Kampung Tirtosari
