<![CDATA[The purpose of conducting this research is to examine the difference NGain scores between students who learn vocabulary with Blindfold Game and students who learn vocabulary without Blindfold Game at the first year students of SMP Negeri 13 Kendari. The samples of this research are the first grade four (VII-4) and the first grade three (VII-3) which consists of 27 students for each class. This research is conducted in comparison research design that consists of experimental class (VII-4) and controll class (VII-3). The data of this research are collected by giving pre-test and post-test in two classes (VII-4 & VII-3). The result shows that there is an improvement of the students’ vocabulary achievement. Independent samples t-test shows that, there is a significant difference in the Ngain scores for experimental class ( M = 60.08, SD = 9.36 ) and controll class ( M = 20.41, SD = 14.56 ), t (52) = 11.904, p (0.000) < 0.05. Therefore, it can be concluded that the value of Sig (2 tailed) is lower than the significance α value (0.000 < 0.05). In other words, alternative hypothesis (H1) is accepted and the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected. It means that the Blindfold game can enrich students’ vocabulary achievement for Junior High School Student.]]>

<![CDATA[Most  of  the  students  felt  difficult  in  learning  a  language because they had little vocabulary. It was caused by the students were easy forgetting new words they had learned. Therefore, this study was conducted to investigate whether there was any significant effect of using Mnemonic strategies on students’ vocabulary achievements at the seventh grade students of SMPN 2 Raha. This research used quasi experimental design and the population was all seventh grade students of SMPN 2 Raha in academic year 2017/2018. The samples of this study were class VII11 as the experimental group and VII10 as the control group. The research instrument was using 40 questions of vocabulary test. To collect the data, the researcher gave pre-test, taught by Mnemonic strategies, and gave post-test. There were four techniques that applied in the learning process were rhyme, keyword, visualization, and narrative chain. The result showed students’ mean score in experimental group was 53.54 and 74.71 at post-test, while mean score in control group was 57.27 and 68.75 in post-test. Based on the calculation of T-test, score of tcount  = 5.828 was higher than ttable  =  2.00  and  the  pvalue  =  0.000  was  lower than = 0.05. Therefore, could be concluded that there was a significant effect of using mnemonic strategies on students’ vocabulary achievement at the seventh grade students of SMPN 2 Raha.]]>

<![CDATA[This study was conducted to investigate the effect of using Scientifics Approach on Students’ vocabulary achievement at grade eight of SMP Muhammadiyah Kendari. The research question of this study was “Is there any significant effect in using of Scientific Approach to increase the students’ vocabulary achievement at grade eight of SMP Muhammadiyah Kendari?†The objective of the study was to find out data and information whether there is a significant effect in using of Scientific Approach to increase the students’ vocabulary achievement at grade eight of SMP Muhammadiyah Kendari. The design of study was a pre-experimental design. The sample of this study was taken by using random sampling which consisted of 30 students. The instrument of this study was vocabulary test which consisted 40 items. The result of the study showed that there was a significant effect in teaching vocabulary through the use of Scientific Approach at grade eight of SMP Muhammadiyah Kendari. The average of students’ vocabulary achievement before using Scientific Approach was 4.99 which is in low category. Meanwhile, the students’ vocabulary achievement after using Scientific Approach was 7.59 which is in high category. The result of hypothesis testing proves that t-test = 25.36 was higher than t-table = 2.04. This finding shows that in teaching vocabulary by using Scientific Approach improve students’ vocabulary achievement at grade eight of SMP Muhammadiyah Kendari.]]>

<![CDATA[The objective of this study is to find out the effect of shadowing technique on students’ speaking ability. The design of this study is quasi experimental were consist of two classes; experimental class and control class of students’ eight grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Parigi. The researcher applied purposive sampling technique. The instrument of this research was oral test in pre-test and post-test. This study was conducted from March 21st to April 7th, 2018. The instrument used for collecting data were speaking test and the data was analyzed by using SPSS version 16.0. The findings show the students speaking score in experimental class is higher than the students speaking score in control class. It has proved by the comparison of the mean score from both control class and experimental class. The mean score of post-test in control group is 2.52 and the mean score of post-test in experimental group is 3.31. The gain score from post-test in control group to post-test in experimental group is 0.79. Furthermore, the effect size of the study is 0.6 and it indicates there is any significant effect of shadowing technique on students’ speaking ability of eight grade students’ at SMP Negeri 1 Parigi. In short, shadowing technique is recommended to teacher to be use in teaching and learning process as an additional technique in teaching speaking especially to students speaking ability.]]>

<![CDATA[The researcher investigated the effect of whole brain teaching method toward students vocabulary achievement at SMPN 17 Kec. Kep Masaloka Raya. The design of the research was pre-experimental design. The population of the research were all the seventh grade students of SMPN 17 Kec. Kep. Masalaoka Raya. In taking sample the researcher using purposive sampling then the researcher chose class VII A of SMPN 17 Kec. Kep. Masaloka Raya which are consist of 28 students. The research used three kinds of vocabulary instrument. The instrument were fill the blank, match word, and rearrange word. The vocabularies test consist of 10 items each test. The test complied by the researcher based on the material in English book in the seventh grade, entitled Ring of The bells. In this research, quantitative data was collected and analyzed by using paired sample t test in SPSS 16.0. the result of the analysis show that the probability value (p) was lower than alpha value (α) at the level significant 95% (0.000 ˂ 0.05). This finding result justified that there was significant differences between students vocabulary score on pretest and post-test or there was significant effect of applying whole brain teaching method toward student vocabulary achievement at seventh grade of SMPN 17 Kec. Kep. Masaloka Raya after treatment. The result prove that the hypothesis of the research was accepted H1 but H0 was rejected.]]>

<![CDATA[The purpose of this study was to investigate the correlation between students’ interpersonal and intrapersonal intelligences and their English achievement. The design of this study was correlation design, and the sample of this study was 90 students which is consists of 140 populations. The sampling was taken by simple random sampling. Moreover, the instruments of this study were interpersonal and intrapersonal intelligences. Based on the result of data computation, it showed that coefficient correlation of students’ interpersonal with (r= -.214).), indicates a low correlation, while students intrapersonal has the high correlation with (r=0.071). The result also shown that the significant value of each students’ interpersonal and intrapersonal intelligences had a significant correlation with their English achievement because its probability value (sig.2 tailed) 0.040 and 0.000 were higher than 0.05. so H1 is definitely accepted and H0 is totally rejected.]]>

<![CDATA[This research discusses the use of the Muna language among students at English Department of Halu Oleo University. Language contact that occurs between the students who are from several regencies and tribes became an interesting thing to see how they keep and use their local language. This study focus on How is the use of Muna language among the students who are from Raha city and what is the prospect of Muna language in the community of students in the globalization era. The main data was taken in English department environment, faculty of teacher training and education, Halu Oleo University. Observation and interviews were used by the Researcher in collecting the data in this area. The result of this research shows that the students are no longer use Muna language correctly and properly. It appears that there is a language shift from Muna to Indonesian which began when they live in Raha and continues when they move to Kendari to college. It shows the prospect of Muna language among students is very threatened.]]>

<![CDATA[This study aims to find out whether there is a significant effect of applying audio-visual method on students’ Speaking achievement of second grade students at SMPN 2 Kendari or not. Population of this research is the entire second grade class in academic year 2017/2018 of SMPN 2 Kendari. The total numbers of the population are 280 students where class VIII B as experimental class and VIII A as control class were chosen as the sample of this study used purposive sampling technique. This study applied quasi-experimental design which concerned on two groups; they are control group and experimental group. These two groups received a different treatment. The implementation of audio-visual method was applied on experimental class. The data which analyzed in this study was quantitative data; it gained from the pretest and posttest result of the two classes which analyzed using descriptive statistic and inferential analysis (Independent sample t-test). The result shows that the gain of the mean score of experimental class 1.76 is higher than the gain score of control class 0.57. It shows that teaching speaking by Audiovisual method in the experimental class has a better effect in enhancing students’ speaking achievement. Then the result of hypothesis testing showed that the value of Sig. (2-tailed) is 0.044 which smaller than (<0.05). Hence, it can be concluded that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted which means that there is significant effect of Audiovisual method on students’ speaking achievement at eight grade of SMP N 2 Kendari. Keywords: Speaking, Audiovisual, Learning method]]>

<![CDATA[The objective of this research was to find out the effect of using picture strip story with guided questions on students’ writing achievement at SMAN 4 Baubau. This research applied quasi experimental design that consist of experimental class and control class. The sample of this research were students at class X IPS 1 and X IPS 2 in SMAN 4 Baubau who were register in academic years 2019/2020. The sample taken by using cluster random sampling and the total numbers of students are 44, 22 for experimental class (X IPS 1) and 22 for control class (X IPS 2). The research instrument was written test which focus on recount text. The researcher collected the data by giving pre-test in both of the classes, giving treatment in experimental by giving picture strip story with guided questions  and non-picture strip story  in control class, and giving post-test in both of the classes. In analyzing the data were used SPSS 16.0 version. To examine the hypothesis the researcher used an independent sample t-test. Based on the result, it showed that students’ mean score of post-test in experimental class is 64.50. It is raised16.73 point from its pre-test (47.77). While students’ mean score of post-test in control class is 54.91. It is only raised 11.32  point from its pre-test (43.59). Besides, the value of degree of freedom (df)= 86, t=4.034, and sig (2 tailed)=0.000. It means that the probability (sig) value is lower than α ( p value < α or 0.000 < 0.05). Therefore,picture strip story with guided questions had a significant effect on students’ writing achievement at SMAN 4 Baubau]]>
