Abstract

This research aims to analyze the concept of the validity of "talaqqathu al-ummah bi al-qabul", with a focus on the case of the hadith regarding changes in the purity of water due to impurity entering it which changes its smell, color and taste. This research uses a qualitative approach with a literature study method. Data was collected through analysis of hadith books, primary sources of hadith, and fiqh literature. The research results show that there is a concept of external validity used by hadith experts, namely the concept of "talaqqathu al-ummah bi al-qabul." In the case of the hadith on changing the purity of water, even though the sanad is considered da’if, al-Shafi'i and al-Baihaqi judge it to be authentic because of the ijma that strengthens it. This research has implications for a broader understanding of the external hadith validity criteria used by hadith experts.

Abstract

A significant area of study in Islamic boarding schools, including those in West Java, is the Qur'an and Hadith of the Prophet (SAW).This study aims to analyse the moderation-based literacy model in Qur Bostanic and Hadith education in traditional pesantrens in West Java.Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through observations and interviews at three pesantrens: Raudat al-Muta'alimīn, Nur al-Hidayah, and Syams al-‘Ulūm. The findings indicate that pesantrens adopt non-radical teaching methods, such as sorogan, balaghan, and pasaran, fostering a moderate religious perspective among santri. This study provides insights into how pesantrens can play a role in strengthening moderate Islamic character. The literacy of tafsir and hadith used by kiyai and ustaz, and followed by their santri using sorogan, balaghan, and market teaching models of sources/references (books) written by scholars, is not known to be radical. The attitude of santri does not show any radicalist-fundamentalist potential; they follow what is taught by the kiyai or ajengan in the pesantren rather than listening to and following religious discourses from outside

Abstract

Islamic scholarship is built by various communities. As a religion that carries the spirit of liberation, Islam provides opportunities for anyone to self-actualize. Mawālī was an element of the early Muslim community that contributed positively to hadith scholarship. During the Umayyah Dynasty, the mawālī became a second-class community, but it had a positive impact on the mawālī to take another path to be considered the main community. This research uses a qualitative method with an analytical-descriptive approach. The author used a biographical dictionary of hadith narrators to find the research data. For the data found to be informative, the author uses a historical perspective to find out the traces of his scholarship. In addition, the author confirms the hadith books. Based on the elaboration, it can be concluded that the mawālī, with its various types, contributed greatly to Islamic scholarship, especially in the field of hadith studies, from the time of the Companions to the later generations.
