Abstract

World Cleanup Day is an environment-based social movement that aims to free the earth from waste and ultimately become a movement for mitigation and adaptation to climate change. Waste is the main problem in Bandar Lampung City due to the dominance of human activities. The purpose of this study is to see the World Cleanup Day movement as a form of concern for the environment in Bandar Lampung City. This study uses the library research method with documentation data collection techniques and data analysis using content analysis. The results of the study show that the World Cleanup Day movement views nature as a home so that all its resources are needed by humans more than they know. The waste problem is the result of uncontrolled human activities, so the best collective action is needed to fix it. The values of this movement are Cooperation, Positivity, Leadership, Technology, and Fun. This movement is present as an act of triggering positive mindset changes and actions to increase public awareness of the waste problem in Bandar Lampung City. The World Cleanup Day movement collaborates with the government, volunteers (community), and other communities. So far the implementation of the movement has been running optimally.

Abstract

Purpose: This study evaluates the performance of the Human Development Index (HDI) improvement program in the Mesuji Regency and identifies factors that influence the dynamics of HDI achievement. Mesuji is a peripheral region that experiences a significant socio-economic lag within Lampung Province, Indonesia. Research Methodology: This study employs a mixed method with an explanatory sequential design, combining quantitative analysis of HDI data from the BPS with qualitative interpretation of contextual and policy factors affecting HDI outcomes. Results: From 2010 to 2022, Mesuji’s HDI steadily increased, driven by improvements in Life Expectancy, Education Index, and Gross National Income per Capita. Key drivers include improved healthcare services, educational expansion, job availability, infrastructure development, and pro-poverty policies. Conclusions: The program aimed at increasing the Human Development Index (HDI) in Mesuji Regency has shown positive results from 2010 to 2022, yet the region's HDI remains classified as "medium" compared to the national average. Limitations: The analysis was limited to the 2010–2022 period, excluding developments beyond this range. Contribution: This study contributes to challenges such as regional development disparities, high poverty rates, and unemployment, which still need to be addressed to achieve more equitable and sustainable development. Novelty: Despite positive growth, Mesuji’s HDI remains in the “medium” category, highlighting the need for strategic and sustained efforts in the health, education, and income sectors. Comprehensive interventions supported by inclusive policies are essential to accelerate HDI progress and reduce regional disparities.

Abstract

Purpose: Adopting digital technology in government processes is believed to improve a state's administration. Almost any change management theory emphasizes the importance of technology as one of the main components to address whether an organization, including public organizations has the ability to win competitions. Digital technology adoption for public services responds to inefficiency, participation frustration, and minimum collaboration and service innovation. This paper investigates the application of digital technology in an integrated digital government modernization, its implications, and challenges in creating expected public values in the Middle Lampung Regency, Indonesia. Methods: This qualitative study involved informants with authority in regional digital government administration. Data were collected through interviews and document analysis. Data were analyzed by using a descriptive content analysis procedure. Results: The results show that although digital government services have been implemented in various types of public services, they are not integrated with public service business processes so digital service applications spread across various types of services cannot be integrated properly. Limitations: There are gaps between applications and service qualities, including fraud in some cases. Contributions: The digital government that is expected to be the optimal method for improving innovation, value, and public service quality cannot be implemented quickly because of complex challenges that must be addressed.
