Abstract

_ Art is an inherent part of humanity; where there are people, art exists. An Arts Building is a venue that showcases various art forms and serves as a source of information, knowledge, education, and recreation in Bone Regency. As development increases, so does pollution. Therefore, it is essential to design buildings that can mitigate or minimize this pollution while functioning effectively, such as by creating environmentally friendly buildings. This research was conducted descriptively through a literature review, collecting information and data from books and the internet relevant to the research topic. The results show that designing an Arts Building with a biomimicry architectural approach using natural strategies is a suitable solution. One application of the biomimicry concept is the use of self-cleaning materials. The addition of TiO2 (Titanium Dioxide) to building materials aims to decompose harmful elements in the surrounding environment through a photocatalysis process similar to that in plants.

Abstract

Abstract_Rental flat is a vertical house designed for low-income people and in response to the high demand for housing. Its also expected to be more efficient in land use and will reduce the number of slums in urban areas. The phenomenon is seen in the Mariso flats, where the preferences of residents in utilizing public spaces are not in accordance with the initial function of space. Spatial conflict arises from the activities and mobility of residents resulting in an invasion of some public spaces. Some spaces exceed their basic functions and objectives, while other spaces are not used according to their original design functions. A comprehensive study conducted to identify the occupant background, job, income and education in connection with their behavior towards public space and its utilization. The research method is accomplished by mapping the behaviors such as place center map. Samples of Residents selected based on characteristics such as age, gender and work to expose the activities and daily interactions.  The results of this study found that low-income residents prefer informal social interactions. Certain private activities are carried out in public spaces and not in their residential units. On several occasions, private activity conducted in groups of residents as part of their daily routine. Corridors that are designed as a connecting line between residential units are overloaded due to personal activity interventions. Conversely, some communal spaces seem abandoned for various reasons. The phenomenon of private activities in communal spaces has reduced the quality of residents, and become another vertical slum in the urban area. Study results must be considered, evaluated and referred for further and better design of public space. in such types of housing. Keywords: Residence Preference; Flats; Public Space.

Abstract

Deconstruction architecture has become a controversial style with varying opinions about its unconventional nature. This concept emerged in response to the boredom and fatigue of existing modern architecture and is currently being applied in the design of Creative Hub buildings in the modern era to avoid the monotony of typical geometries. The application of Deconstruction architecture in performance buildings is considered suitable as a means to illustrate the principles of deconstruction architecture in the modern context. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method and collects data through a literature study related to Deconstruction architecture. The analysis results show that Creative Hub adopts the concept of Deconstruction architecture by applying principles such as hybrid forms (combination of forms), form complexity, aesthetics and ornamentation, strong symbolism, disorder, disharmony, the use of metaphors, distortion, and contrast in its design."

Abstract

Abstract_Health is a crucial aspect of urban development and human resource advancement. According to Indonesia's Health Law No. 9 of 1960 and the 1975 WHO definition, health encompasses physical, mental, and social well-being. The city of Makassar faces significant challenges in providing healthcare services, particularly with the growing demand for hospital referrals. The Covid-19 pandemic, caused by the Coronavirus, was first identified in Wuhan, China, in December 2019 and rapidly spread worldwide, including to Indonesia. This pandemic necessitated mitigation measures, including social restrictions as outlined in Government Regulation No. 21 of 2020. This study aims to design a specialized hospital for Covid-19 patients in Makassar, applying a healing environment architectural approach. The research methodology includes site analysis, primary and secondary data collection, and synthesis of concepts based on design elements that support patient recovery. The results show a hospital design incorporating natural lighting, optimal ventilation, and integration of natural elements, which enhance patients' physical and psychological comfort and accelerate the healing process.

Abstract

The Pet Center in Makassar City offers a solution to the growing need for interaction between pets and their owners, considering the high interest in pet ownership and the development of pet enthusiast communities. However, there is currently no adequate facility that allows pets to walk or gather in an environment that is friendly to both humans and animals, creating the need for a pet- and human-friendly space. This pet center is designed to facilitate comfortable and safe human-pet interactions. The design process incorporates an analysis of animal behavioral characteristics, which is integrated into the design concept to tailor the space to reflect traits such as activity, curiosity, and friendly, playful personalities of pets. The "attractive" concept is realized through spatial layouts that enable harmonious interactions at every corner and accommodate diverse functional spaces to support the activities of visitors and their pets. The Makassar Pet Center design results in a multifunctional public building offering interactive spaces and comprehensive facilities, creating a pet-friendly environment that enhances the city’s social and recreational experiences.
