Abstract

Background: The achievement of exclusive breastfeeding in the Kebumen region, particularly in the sub-district of Rowokele in 2023, was 69.2%. One of the factors contributing to the low exclusive breastfeeding rate among babies under six months of age is the lack of knowledge and skills in breastfeeding, as well as challenges in breast milk production for postpartum mothers during the early days after delivery, often extending beyond three days. The consequences of not providing exclusive breastfeeding until the baby is six months old are impaired child growth and development. Utilizing tutorial video media for the management of exclusive breastfeeding can be a viable solution to enhance mothers' knowledge and skills in breastfeeding, as videos engage both the sense of hearing and sight. This multimedia approach caters to various learning senses in the human body, facilitating a better understanding and retention of the information provided. Objective: To apply Video Tutorial Media for the Management of Exclusive Breastfeeding for postpartum mothers to enhance their Breastfeeding Knowledge and Skills. Methods: This research employed a case study design. Five postpartum mothers who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria participated in the study. Data were collected through observation and documentation. Results: The application was conducted for 14 days, starting 6 hours after giving birth. The participants watched the Video Tutorial on the Management of Exclusive Breastfeeding once daily for 14 days. Following the implementation of the Video Tutorial, there was a significant improvement in Knowledge and Skills related to breastfeeding for all five participants. Prior to the application, their knowledge and skills were categorized as poor. Conclusion: The implementation of video tutorial media for the management of exclusive breastfeeding effectively increased the knowledge and skills of breastfeeding mothers.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Utilizing local potential is one of the strategic efforts to enhance the economic independence of rural communities. Bogangin Village, located in Sumpiuh Subdistrict, has great potential in the freshwater fisheries sector, particularly in catfish farming. However, the limited knowledge and skills of the community—especially the Women Farmers Group (KWT)—in processing fishery products into high-value economic commodities remain a challenge. This community service activity aims to improve the ability of KWT members to process catfish into shredded fish (abon) as a value-added product with high market potential and long shelf life. The methods used include counseling, hands-on training in making shredded catfish, business management assistance, and digital marketing strategies. The results show an 85% increase in participants’ knowledge and skills, as well as the emergence of an initiative from the KWT to establish a joint household-scale business. This activity has made a tangible contribution to women’s economic empowerment and the strengthening of local potential based on village resources. Keywords: Women Farmers Group (KWT), Shredded Catfish, Women’s Empowerment, Local Potential, Village Economy.

Abstract

Stunting is a priority problem in Indonesia because it inhibits child growth and development, reduces intelligence, increases the risk of disease, and negatively impacts productivity and the nation's economy. Therefore, stunting prevention is included in the government's Asta Cita program to improve the quality of human resources. However, there is still a gap in the use of technology and monitoring of child growth and development in mothers with stunted children, so that innovative interventions in the SIGINTING application are needed to strengthen the nutritional information system and increase the effectiveness of mentoring and follow-up of stunting cases. The purpose of this study was to improve mothers' knowledge, attitudes, and skills in reducing stunting through nutrition class mentoring with digital educational innovations through the Stunting Response Information System Application (SIGINTING). This type of research is a Quasi-experimental study with a pre-test-post-test control group design, with a sample size of 84 people in each group. The sampling technique used stratified random sampling. Data analysis used the Wilcoxon test. The results showed that the mean value of the level of knowledge before the intervention in the treatment group was 68.7 and after the intervention became 88.79 with a p-value of 0.000. Meanwhile, the mean value of mothers' attitudes before the intervention in the treatment group increased from 64.14 to 74.11 with a p-value of 0.000. The mean maternal skills score before the intervention was 70,64, increasing to 88,79 after the intervention, with a p-value of 0.000. The combination of nutrition class support and the use of the SIGINTING application has proven effective in improving maternal knowledge, attitudes, and skills in reducing stunting rates. Recommendations include implementing regular nutrition classes for mothers of toddlers and utilizing the SIGINTING application as a digital educational medium.
