Abstract

Yogyakarta is a popular tourist destination in Indonesia, yet lactation rooms at public facilities are difficult to access and substandard. This will certainly have an impact on breastfeeding practices for mothers who travel through their daily activities in public areas. Researchers propose using "Ruang Sehati" lactation pods as a kind of wellness tourism in Yogyakarta. This study aims to determine participants' perceptions of the lactation pod. Descriptive analytical methods were used in this study. Twenty participants were involved with this purposive sampling technique. The study showed that lactation pod innovation is essential, including maintaining privacy, sufficient breastfeeding facilities, high accessibility, and place efficiency. This innovation is also a model that can be demonstrated nationally, thereby showing a portrait of wellness tourism in the city of Yogyakarta as an ideal tourist destination for mothers and children.

Abstract

Yogyakarta, a renowned tourist city in Indonesia, currently needs more lactation rooms and public facilities within tourist areas. To address this, inventors propose a portable lactation pod. This study utilized the design thinking method, emphasizing user needs. Interviews were conducted with thirty breastfeeding mothers on Malioboro Street in Yogyakarta to assess the necessity of lactation rooms in this popular tourist spot. From February to June 2022, the stages of "empathize," "define," "ideate," "prototype," and "test" were completed. The findings indicate that the "SEHATI" portable lactation room innovation meets user requirements, with feature satisfaction scores ranging from 4.2 to 4.9 out of 5.0. However, improvements are needed in the ventilation, exhaust fan, and fan sections, which received lower satisfaction scores during the "testing" stage. This innovation could serve as a pilot project, showcasing wellness tourism in Yogyakarta nationally.

Abstract

Public lactation rooms in popular tourist destinations continue to fall short of the Indonesian government's basic guidelines. Thus, we developed the first portable lactation pod in Indonesia, focusing on user demands. This study employed the design thinking method, combined with qualitative research and quality improvement techniques that focus on user needs. Thirty participants were interviewed on different days, Saturday and Sunday, in the first week of July, with each interview lasting 30 minutes. The interview was only conducted at the "empathize" and "testing" stages. From July to September 2023, the stages of "empathize," "define," "ideate," "prototype," and “test” were completed. Four themes were found during the development process of the newest generation of the portable lactation pod, "Ruang Sehati.” These themes are the essential elements lactating mothers and their babies need at the portable lactation pods in tourist destinations: functional, natural, aesthetic, and educational elements. The harmonization of architectural art, tourism, and health would enable us to bring this innovation to build a national pilot initiative that promotes wellness tourism in Yogyakarta.

Abstract

Every parent does not want stunting cases to occur in their children. Stunting in children can be caused by direct and indirect factors. One direct cause is a lack of nutritious food intake. The role of parents, especially mothers, as indirect causes plays a vital role in fulfilling children's nutrition. This research aims to analyze the relationship between a mother's knowledge and the incidence of stunting. The research method uses an analytical survey with a cross-sectional approach. The sampling technique used purposive sampling, totaling 68 respondents, with the criteria being mothers who had toddlers aged 1-2 years. Research location in the city of Bekasi, Indonesia. The research instrument used a questionnaire and measurements of body length compared with age. Data analysis with bivariate and univariate statistics. The research results show that the majority of mothers have good knowledge, and the majority do not experience stunting. Statistical tests using Chi-Square show that there is a significant relationship between mothers' knowledge about nutrition and the incidence of stunting in mothers of toddlers 1-2 years old. The contribution of this research is evidence that mother's knowledge is essential for children's growth. One alternative strategy to overcome the increase in stunting cases is to strengthen the understanding of mothers.
