Abstract

Abstract: The combine harvester machine entered and was adopted by farmers in Benculuk Village in October 2020. The combine harvester machine entered Benculuk Village due to several driving factors, namely the lack of a number of harvest workers, the mobility of farm workers to other jobs, the use of a combine machine that is more practical and efficient, the yield cleaner and more optimal, and farmers keep abreast of existing trends. Because after the introduction of the combine harvester machine it has been proven to be able to provide benefits for farmers including being able to minimize the level of crop loss, increase crop production, improve the quality of rice yields, and efficiency in the use of costs, time and energy expended. The purpose of this study was to examine the description of the rationality of farmers in Benculuk Village after the combine harvester machine was introduced. This study uses the theory of rational farmers from Samuel L. Popkin (1986). The method used is qualitative with a phenomenological approach. Where the research location is in Benculuk Village, Cluring District, Banyuwangi Regency. The findings from this study after the introduction of the combine harvester machine to farmers in Benculuk Village changed the life order of the farmers who used it. The changes that are felt have an impact on changes in civilization, namely changes in the technological machines used by farmers when they go to paddy fields. Ecological changes that make paddy soil more muddy and watery. Economic changes, namely farmers are more profitable, as well as changes in the social life of landowners and farm workers. After the introduction of the combine harvester machine in Benculuk Village, it shows that the farmers there have become rational farmers who lead to capitalism.

Abstract

Fishermen are often described as people whose lives depend on nature. Since the emergence of gold mines in Pancer, fishermen have had difficulty finding fish. In many cases, the presence of mines in other regions has caused environmental damage. However, there have been no scientific studies that show significant environmental damage due to gold mines in Pancer. This study aims to analyze the lives of fishermen in Pancer after the emergence of gold mines and analyze whether a sustainable society has been realized. The concept of deep ecology is used by researchers to analyze the case. The study uses a qualitative method with a case study approach. Data were obtained from the field using observation and interviews, as well as field documentation including literature studies to support research data. The research was conducted in Pancer Hamlet, especially at Pancer Beach and Pulau Merah Beach. At Pancer Beach, fishermen began to have difficulty finding fish in coastal areas, so they had to sail far to get fish. This caused a decrease in the income of fishermen at Pancer Beach. Meanwhile, at Pulau Merah Beach, the community developed the beach as a tourist destination. Some fishermen switched professions to become traders around the beach or rent boats to tourists. The Pancer community as a sustainable society can be seen from waste management to protect the coastal environment. Support for inclusive social policies from the government is by making various regulations and waste management activities that involve the local society, community groups, stakeholders, including the younger generation. Sustainable society is in line with the concept of deep ecology because it prioritizes the nature sustainability for the sustainability of human's life.

Abstract

Background: The paradigm of disaster management has changed from a responsive view to an anticipatory one. The organization/institution and work program of Destana Desa Klungkung which was formed since 2018 has not been running optimally, while in Klungkung Village there are many potential disasters such as floods, landslides, droughts, and fires. The title of Pratama Disaster Resilient Village is still not powerful enough. The urgency of this community service program is so that Destana can be more useful in carrying out disaster prevention, so that disasters can be anticipated, their risks reduced, and they can be managed properly. The purpose of the community service program from year I to year III (2023-2025) is to strengthen the Destana institution through assistance in preparing disaster management programs and implementing programs, as well as assistance in exit strategies for terminating the program. Method: Activities consist of mentoring and compiling Disaster Identification Documents, Risk Analysis on Assets, Determination of Policies and Strategies, Disaster Contingency Plan (RKB) documents, including Projections of Planning and Needs between Operational Fields, and compiling Disaster Management Plan (RPB) documents. Results: In this second year of community service program, Disaster Management Plan (RPB) Documents and Disaster Contingency Plan (RKB) documents were produced. Conclusion: The next community service program should be able to implement similar community service programs to massively empower the Destana program, especially for Destana in various villages that will transform from Pratama to Madya or Utama.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

This study examines how the Cina Benteng subculture sustains social harmony amid the cultural dominance of the Sunda Muslim community in Kalipasir, Tangerang. It focuses on how minority groups adapt while maintaining their cultural identity. Employing a qualitative ethnographic approach grounded in Bourdieu’s theory, the research identifies three habituation processes. First, dominant value internalization is seen in adapting Peh Cun traditions with Sunda Muslim elements, engaging in local rituals, and acculturating Gambang Kromong and Cokek Dance. Second, cultural hegemony reflexivity appears through the community’s use of the Sundanese language. Third, habitus formation develops via intensive social interactions and intergroup networks fostering social cohesion. The findings reveal that despite dominant culture, the Cina Benteng community achieves harmony through collaboration and tolerance. This study contributes to a deeper understanding of cultural diversity and adaptive strategies within Indonesia’s multicultural society.
