Abstract

Vaname shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) is one of Indonesia's leading fisheries commodities. Lamongan and Gresik districts are one of the largest vaname shrimp producers in East Java. This research was conducted to determine differences in the growth of vanami shrimp, differences in the quality of vanami shrimp in terms of color, absolute weight, absolute length, and differences in methods of cultivating vanami shrimp in Rejosari Village, Lamongan Regency and Pandanan Village, Gresik Regency. This research was conducted in April-May 2024 using 4 ponds (2 in Lamongan and 2 in Gresik). The methods used are qualitative and quantitative methods, measuring the color of vanami shrimp using a color reader, testing weight and length using the t-test to determine significant values between the 2 locations, differences in methods of cultivating vanami shrimp using interviews with farmers. The results of this study showed that the color quality of vaname shrimp, A (Rejosari Village, Lamongan) in the 1st replication (pond A1) and (pond A2) doc k2 30-doc to 65 showed quite good color values except for pond A in the 1st replication (pond A1). The results of the absolute weight t-test are 0.30 > 0.05, while for the absolute long t-test it is 0.94 > 0.05. The results of interviews with farmers showed differences in the feed used, farmers A1 and A2 used traditional feed in the form of cassava which was grated and then dried, the artificial feed used for ponds A1 and A2 was (multi super feed). Meanwhile, in ponds B1 and B2, traditional feed was used in the form of steamed leftover rice and corn, the artificial feed used for ponds B1 and B2 was (karka).

Abstract

Comet fish (Carassius auratus) are one of the popular ornamental fish due to their beautiful colors and body shapes. The enhancement of comet fish colors is often done by adding feed ingredients that contain carotenoids, such as carrot powder and shrimp head powder. This study aims to analyze the effect of adding carrot powder and shrimp head powder on growth rate, survival rate, feed conversion ratio, feed utilization efficiency, and the coloration of comet fish. The study was conducted using four different feed treatments: (A) 50% commercial pellets + 50% carrot powder, (B) 50% commercial pellets + 50% shrimp head powder, (C) 50% commercial pellets + 25% carrot powder + 25% shrimp head powder, and (K) 100% commercial pellets (control). Each treatment was replicated three times, and observations were made over 40 days. The results showed that the addition of carrot powder and shrimp head powder did not significantly affect daily growth rate and feed utilization efficiency. However, there was a significant effect on absolute length growth, with treatment A providing the best results. The survival rate of comet fish was also not significantly affected by feed treatments. Color analysis indicated that the combination of carrot powder and shrimp head powder (treatment C) provided the best yellow color intensity. The addition of carrot powder and shrimp head powder in the feed can enhance the color intensity of comet fish, especially the yellow color. However, this treatment did not significantly affect daily growth rate and feed utilization efficiency. This study provides important information for ornamental fish breeders in improving the color quality of comet fish through natural feed.

Abstract

The heavy metal lead has been reported to pollute waters along the Glagah River, Lamongan Regency, Indonesia. Lead contamination in all organs of the Tutut snail (Filopaludina javanica) was detected at 2.92 ± 0.5 ppm. Therefore, lead contamination can cause severe problems because lead can accidentally accumulate in the human body through the food chain. One effort to reduce risks related to food safety is Depuration. The research aimed to analyze the effect of Depuration using a flushing system on histopathological changes and metallothionein levels in all organs of the spotted snail (Filopaludina javanica). The research used a Completely Randomized Design with four treatments and three replications. Treatment includes flushing time (6 hours, 12 hours, 18 and 24 hours). The MT response was tested statistically using One Way Anova, while the histopathological analysis used a descriptive method by comparing before treatment and after flushing treatment for 24 hours, to determine metallothionein levels, the ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) method was used. The results showed tissue damage in edema, hyperplasia, and vacuolation. Tissue damage before and after Depuration was relatively the same and included in the low category, with damage ranging from (0-6.1%). Meanwhile, metallothionein analysis has not shown a significant decrease in levels. Metallothionein levels increased with the duration of flushing. Further checks showed that the media water used in flushing during Depuration contained Fe and Zn, which resulted in increased MT levels

Abstract

Vannamei shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) cultivation is one of the fisheries sub-sectors that has high economic value and is important in supporting the economy, among various cultivation systems, traditional ponds are still the choice for most farmers, especially those who have limited capital and supporting technology. This study aims to analyze the weight growth and absolute weight growth rate of vannamei shrimp cultivated in traditional ponds, this study was carried out for 35 days, the variables of this study include the absolute weight and absolute length of the cultivated shrimp. This study shows that shrimp in pond A have better growth than pond B, where the absolute weight is 15.92 grams while in pond B it is 7.56 grams. Analysis of the absolute length growth of vannamei also shows better in pond A with a value of 5.73 cm while in pond B it is 2.90 cm. Density and water quality are the causes of slow growth, on the other hand, land area, optimal density is more profitable for shrimp in obtaining natural food.
