Abstract

This research is survey research using correlation techniques whics aims to determine the correlation between learning styles and cognitive ability on circle material. This research was conducted at grade VIII students of Junior High School SMP Negeri 2 Limboto, Gorontalo regency, 2017/2018 academic year with a sample of 119 students. Data collection techniques were carried out using questionnaires and test. The questionnaire is to obtain learning style data, while the test is to obtain students’ cognitive ability data on circle material. Further, the hypothesis is tested using regression and correlation analysis. Based on the results of data analysis, it is shown that there was a positive correlation between learning styles and cognitive ability on circle material at grade VIII of Junior High School SMP Negeri 2 Limboto, Gorontalo regency. The contribution of learning styles given to students’ cognitive ability on circle material is 9.14%. This value shows the influence given by the learning style of students’ cognitive ability. The result provides information that the lack of selecting and understanding of each student’s learning style influences the level of cognitive abilities, especially on circle material even though the contribution is given is 9.14%.

Abstract

This study discusses the effect of the Problem Based Learning model on students' mathematical creative thinking skills on cube and cuboid material. The research was carried out using an experimental method involving students of SMP Negeri 3 Limboto Barat as research subjects. The research design used is Post Test Only Control Design. Sampling was carried out using the Simple Random Sampling technique. Measuring mathematical creative thinking ability is done using a test instrument that has met the requirements of item validity and instrument reliability requirements. The results showed that applying the Problem-Based Learning model in learning significantly influenced students' creative thinking skills on cube and cuboid material. This can be seen from students' mathematical creative thinking ability in learning using the Problem-Based Learning model, which is higher than students' mathematical creative thinking ability in direct learning.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of the think pair share type cooperative learning model assisted by educational videos on student learning outcomes in relation and function material. The research was carried out in SMP Negeri 1 Suwawa in the alternate semester of the 2022/2023 academic year. The population in this study was all class VIII, totaling 83 people. The sample used was 20 students in the experimental class and 20 students in the control class. The research results show a significant difference in the average learning outcomes of students who study using the think pair share cooperative learning model, which is higher than the direct learning model.

Abstract

This research is a qualitative descriptive study which aims to determine students' mathematical reasoning abilities in solving problem-based questions with categories of high, sufficient and low mathematical reasoning abilities. The subjects studied were 18 students at SMPN 15 Gorontalo who were in class VIII. The data collection technique is a means of collecting data by researchers which takes place in two stages, namely tests and interviews. The indicators used in this research are as follows: 1) Ability to present mathematical statements in writing. 2) submit an opinion. 3) carry out mathematical manipulations. 4) compiling evidence, providing reasons or evidence for the truth and 5) drawing conclusions. The research results showed that the ability to present mathematical statements obtained a presentation of 68.52% in the high category, the ability to put forward conjectures in the presentation 44.44% in the sufficient category, the ability to manipulate mathematical presentations in the sufficient category 44.44%, the ability to draw conclusions, compile evidence, provide reasons or evidence for the correctness of the solution. obtained presents 48.15%. sufficient category, an interesting conclusion from the statement obtaining a percentage of 40.74% in the sufficient category.

Abstract

This study aims to describe students understanding of mathematical concepts through online learning for students of SMP Negeri 1 Suwawa regarding the concepts of cubes and cuboids. This research is descriptive with a quantitative approach. The subjects of this study were 35 students from classes VIII of SMP Negeri 1 Suwawa. The instrument used was essay questions. The research data were obtained from the results of the essay test. The results showed that the understanding of cubes and cuboids for class VIII was categorized as low for 28.57% of the students, medium for 63%, and high for 9%.
