Abstract

Perifiton whose life is attached to the substrate, acts as a provider of nutrients and indicators of fishery water quality. The purpose of this study was to analyze the structure, abundance and diversity of epiphytic and epidendric periphyton in floating net cages and water quality. This research was conducted by purposive sampling in upstream, middle and downstream. The method used is exploratory quantitative, from May and June 2021 with sampling time at the beginning of each month. The main phytoplankton periphyton composition consists of Chlorophyceae and Bacillariophyceae. Chlorophyceae increased from 19 genera at the beginning of the observation to 24 genera, while Bacillariophyceae decreased from 22 to 21 genera. Phytoplankton periphytons that were always present in each observation both at STA-1, STA-2 and STA-3 were Synedra, Diatoma, Tabellaria, Fragillaria, Zygnema, Spirogyra, Mougeotiopsis, Microspora, Chlorodesmis cosmosa and Closterium. Unstable community structure with an abundance of 600 – 1320 cells/liter, uniformity index 0.53 – 0.884, diversity index 1.104 – 1.750 and dominance index 0.14 -0.47 classified as oligotropic. Similar periphyton upstream and midstream, but different downstream. The presence of Synedra in all locations indicates that there has been a decline in water quality due to low dissolved oxygen. Water quality at the site informs that low pH, high ammonia and high organic matter result in low dissolved oxygen.

Abstract

Character education plays an important role in shaping individuals who not only excel academically but also possess strong morals and high social values. In the context of mathematics learning, character values not only help students understand numerical concepts but also instill discipline, hard work, and perseverance. This study aims to analyze the implementation of character values in mathematics learning and the role of teachers in developing them. The subjects of the study were 100 high school students from public schools in Palembang. Data were collected through questionnaires and interviews and analyzed using descriptive methods. The results showed that the values of discipline, hard work, and religiosity were dominant, while creativity and communication remained weak. Therefore, efforts are needed to develop these values, particularly creativity and communication, through improved teacher professionalism, interactive learning, integration of real-world contexts, and addressing students' psychological barriers.

Abstract

Women's empowerment is a form of activity to realize social change in a planned manner as a solution to problems or to meet needs in community life. The YSI BEM KM UMY team implies an educational role in empowerment for five months starting from July-November 2022 to the PKK Mekar Sari Jatimulyo Village. Empowering the manufacture of Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) oil is one of the ways PKK Mekar Sari is independent in realizing a smart and independent women's group. The objectives of empowerment are in the form of; 1) the formation of the Coconut Management Group (KELAPA) which acts as the person in charge of VCO Production; 2) increasing public understanding and independence regarding the use of coconuts into VCO; 3) the community is able to operate centrifugation equipment so that it produces better VCO; 4) the community is able to solve marketing problems  so that it makes it easier to sell VCOs. The empowerment method starts from problem identification, conceptualization stage, program implementation, as well as monitoring and evaluation. The results of this empowerment are in the form of; 1) the creation of the Padukuhan Karanggede community who are members of the KELAPA (Coconut Processing Group) organization who have an adequate understanding in making VCO; 2) the creation of the original VCO product of PKK Mekar Sari; 3) centrifugation device as an innovation in the production of VCO oil; 4) and, increasing public understanding related to marketing management science.
