Abstract

For teachers and educators, one self-competency that must be developed is enhancing research and scientific paper dissemination. This study aims to determine the abilities and obstacles experienced by teachers in writing scientific papers. Implementing a sequential research design, this research adopts both quantitative and qualitative analysis.  Twenty-seven teachers contributed as participants and gathered data through questionnaires, which were analyzed quantitatively, and semi-structured interviews which were analyzed qualitatively using thematic analysis. The results showed that SMP Negeri 6 Kota Jayapura teachers still face challenges in writing scientific papers. The scores for each issue are as follows: lack of understanding of publication writing guidelines is the most crucial issue with 24.59%. The second highest issue is the minimal time available to teachers, scoring 19.67%. The third highest issue is low teacher motivation, scoring 11.03%. The fourth highest issues are the lack of information on article writing, the prevalence of scientific paper writing services, and teachers' inability to operate computers, scoring 9.83%. The fifth highest issues are the lack of teacher skills in finding references, non-compliance of teachers' journals with writing guidelines, and limited references needed for writing. In conclusion, the three most dominant factors contributing to insufficient writing ability are the lack of scientific writing knowledge, lack of writing time and administrative demand, and low writing motivation. The research findings offer valuable insight both practically and theoretically. In fostering the related issues, training and ongoing support are crucial for developing and maintaining high standards of scientific writing among educators.

Abstract

Abstract

This study is related to the development of teaching materials that adapt the changes in the old curriculum to the new curriculum, namely the 2013 curriculum by implementing a learning model, namely a discovery learning-based module. The Discovery learning model is one model that can play a role in solving problems for students so that they can learn independently. The purpose of this study is to see the feasibility and response of students regarding the discovery learning-based module. This researcher adapted from the ADDIE development model (Pribadi, 2014) which has 5 stages. However, in this study it was only limited to the development stage so that only 3 stages were carried out, namely Analysis, Design, and Development until a limited trial was carried out. Module validation was carried out by 3 validators to test 6 aspects that were assessed and obtained an overall percentage of 88.08% with a very strong interpretation and a limited trial to 31 class VIII A students where seen from the 4 aspects that were assessed obtained an overall percentage of 92% with a very strong implementation. So based on these results, it can be concluded that the discovery learning-based learning module on the subject of vibrations and waves at SMPN 4 Jayapura is suitable for use and the response of students regarding the discovery learning-based module for the subject of vibrations and waves is very good

Abstract

Research has been carried out with the aim of knowing how the profile of PPL student learning outcomes on the concept of energy. This type of research is quantitative with pre-experimental design research method, the form of design used is one-group pretest-posttest. The analysis technique used is validity and reliability. The results of the research and data processing were obtained: 1) there were quite good student learning outcomes with an average value, namely the first concept was worth 77.35, the second concept was worth 77.14 and the third concept was worth 79.05, so the PPL student learning outcomes in 2021/2022 in the concept of energy is said to be good

Abstract

This study aims to identify the factors that affect the interest of SMP Negeri 8 Jayapura teachers in publishing scientific publications, analyze the obstacles faced, and offer solutions based on quantitative approaches. All population members were used as respondents in this saturated sample study, which involved 75 instructors at SMP Negeri 8 Jayapura. A 5-point Likert scale was used in the questionnaire used to collect the data. Evaluation of the measurement model, structural model, and hypothesis testing were all part of the data analysis process utilizing Smart PLS 4. The study identified three main variables that influenced teachers' scientific publications, namely knowledge of scientific writing techniques (X1), writing Motivation (X2), and access to facilities and support (X3). All three significantly affected scientific publications (Y), with the most significant contribution from knowledge (loading 0.922). Cronbach's Alpha scores of 0.783–0.827 and Composite Reliability > 0.827 indicated encouraging validity and reliability testing findings. Hypothesis testing showed that X1, X2, and X3 had a significant positive effect on Y, confirming the importance of increasing knowledge, Motivation, and support to improve teachers' scientific publications.
