Abstract

This research is a class action research / CAR (Classroom Action Research) which aims to improve Civics learning outcomes through discovery learning models for students of class X IPS 3 SMAN 1 Bungo. This research was conducted at SMAN 1 Bungo, with the subjects being students of class X IPS 3 in the even semester of the 2019/2020 school year. The data in this study are observational data about student activities and student learning outcomes data. From the results of observations, student activity has increased every cycle. Cycle I obtained a value of 58 with good criteria, cycle II obtained an activity value of 66.07 with good criteria. Cycle III obtained a value of 76.19 with very good criteria, so that there was an increase in student learning activities from cycle II to cycle III, which was 10.12. Based on the learning outcomes data, the average value in the first cycle was 71.79. Cycle II was 73.13 and in cycle III was 79.11, thus there was an increase from cycle I to cycle II of 1.34 and from cycle II to cycle III of 5.98. Based on the completeness data, in the first cycle, only 28.6% have been completed. In the second cycle as much as 25% were declared to have been completed. In the third cycle, 82.14% were declared to have been completed. So it can be concluded that learning with discovery learning models can increase student activity and learning outcomes.

Abstract

Foreign language anxiety is widely recognized as a crucial factor influencing the oral performance of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) learners. This study aimed to investigate the correlation between students’ anxiety and their speaking performance, focusing on seventh-semester students at the Foreign Language Academy of the Muslim University of Indonesia. Employing a descriptive quantitative method, data were collected through structured questionnaires distributed to 15 participants. The instrument measured anxiety across multiple dimensions, including communication apprehension, fear of negative evaluation, and self-perceived inefficacy, and responses were analyzed using descriptive and correlational techniques. The results indicated a strong negative correlation between students’ anxiety levels and their speaking performance. Students reported heightened nervousness in oral tasks, particularly when required to speak spontaneously or under evaluative scrutiny. Lack of vocabulary and insufficient preparation were identified as primary triggers of anxiety. At the same time, strategies such as preparation, relaxation, and positive thinking were noted as effective though underutilized coping mechanisms. The findings align with international research on foreign language anxiety, while also revealing contextual nuances specific to Indonesian learners. Pedagogical implications highlight the need for supportive classroom practices, peer collaboration, and teacher feedback that fosters psychological safety. The study contributes to the body of knowledge by bridging theoretical perspectives with practical strategies and suggests that future research should focus on longitudinal designs and digital-based interventions to further explore anxiety management. These insights underscore the importance of integrating affective considerations into EFL pedagogy to enhance learners’ oral proficiency.

Abstract

Tingginya angka pemutusan hubungan kerja atau PHK di Kawasan perkotaan juga merambat pada industri perkebunan karet di Kabupaten Bulukumba. Hal ini terjadi dengan akibat pandemic covid 19 yang merambah semua dunia kerja dan tak lepas para pekerja perkebunan dan petani pada umumnya. Dengan bercermin pada kejadian ini maka tim pengabdian kepada masyarakat melakukan kegiatan pengabdian berupa sosialisasi budidaya tanaman karet sebagai penopang ekonomi petani pasca pandemic di kelurahan Ballasaraja Kecamatan Bulukumpa Kab Bulukumba Provinsi Sulawesi Selatan tahun 2021-2022. Tanaman karet dipilih dengan masa panen relative Panjang di kisaran 25-27 tahun dengan sistem panen perhari dan dimulai produktif di usia 4-5 tahun pasca tanam dengan tawaran omset mengiurkan 1 ton getah karet per hektar  dengan harga Rp 12.000 per kilogram bisa mencapai RP. 12.000.000 perbulan. Ini adalah penghasilan fantastis yang mengiurkan petani. System tanam, dan perawatan karet yang relatif mudah juga memberikan kemudahan pada para petani untuk menguji coba. Pada kegiatan pengabdian ini tim pengabdi melakukan sosialisasi mulai dari motifasi, cara pembibitan, pengolahan tanah, penanaman dan penyulaman, perawatan dan pemeliharaan, tumpeng sari dan pemupukan. Diharapkan kegiatan sosialisasi pembinaan budidaya tanaman karet ini efektif untuk membantu masyarakat terlepas dari jerat ekonomi akibat pandemic yang berkepanjangan di beberapa tahun mendatang.
