Abstract

Inspired by the paradigm of mate selection motives in evolutionary psychology, this research seeks to determine the extent to which violent extremist thought patterns are a product of perceptions of attractiveness that persist in men as a response to intrasexual selection. The survey was conducted on 192 samples of the general population in Indonesia, on a male sample (n = 80), after controlling for demographic variables, including dark personality (dark triad), men's subjective perception that Indonesian women find violence attractive (PAOSV) predicts militant-extremist mindset. PAOSV was the only variable that predicted violent extremism mindset in men. Furthermore, we discovered a mechanism that we call “sexualization of violence” – namely the extent to which individuals perceive violence as sexy, manly, and cool (AV) as a process that arises from the perception of high levels of positive feedback from the opposite sex towards violence. Where in the sample of men in this study, the only variable that shaped the mindset of violent extremism was sexual motives. The discussion elaborate differences in perceptions of attraction to violence between men and women, differentiation and gaps in perceptions between men and women in assessing violence. This study has practical implications, namely discussing the importance of the role of women as active agents in the formation of a culture of nonviolence.

Abstract

Asesmen kebutuhan pada siswa SMA kelas 10 mengidentifikasi adanya indikasi masalah prokrastinasi. Riset sebelumnya menunjukkan bahwa perilaku prokrastinasi dapat dimitigasi dengan intervensi metakognitif self-regulated learning - seberapa siswa bisa melakukan perencanaan, monitoring, dan evaluasi dalam proses belajar yang bangkit dari motivasi internal. Desain sederhana pre-test dan post-test digunakan sebagai rancangan intervensi self-regulated learning. Sebanyak 59 partisipan direkrut, diukur tingkatan pengetahuan mengenai prokrastinasi sebelum dan setelah intervensi. Conscientiousness trait juga diukur untuk mengetahui efek intervensi mengontrol pribadi rajin-teratur yang berpotensi menjadi confounding. Hasil menunjukkan main effect dari intervensi, F (1, 56) = 49,54, p < 0,001 mengontrol jenis kelamin dan perubahan Conscientiousness trait pada baseline dan post-treatment. Intervensi self-regulated learning mampu meningkatkan pengetahuan partisipan tentang prokrastinasi. Mayoritas siswa (72,9%) mengalami peningkatan pengetahuan mengenai prokrastinasi, terutama pada pengetahuan tentang strategi menangani prokrastinasi. Melalui intervensi ini, siswa lebih strategis untuk menangani isu penundaan secara mandiri. A needs assessment of 10th-grade high school students identified some indications of procrastination problems. Previous research shows that procrastination behavior can be mitigated with metacognitive self-regulated learning interventions - how much students can plan, monitor, and evaluate in the learning process that arises from internal motivation. A simple pre-test and post-test design was used as a self-regulated learning intervention plan. A total of 59 participants were recruited, and their level of knowledge regarding procrastination was measured before and after the intervention. The conscientiousness trait was also measured to determine the intervention effects control of the diligent-organized personality which has the potential to be a confounder. Results showed a main effect of the intervention, F(1, 56) = 49.54, p < 0.001 controlling for gender and changes in conscientiousness trait at baseline and posttreatment. The self-regulated learning intervention was able to increase participants' knowledge about procrastination. The majority of students (72.9%) experienced increased knowledge about procrastination, especially knowledge about strategies for dealing with procrastination. Through this intervention, students have more strategies to deal with pending problems independently.

Abstract

[Bahasa]: Fenomena prokrastinasi sering terjadi pada pelajar di sekolah, termasuk pada jenjang pendidikan menengah pertama. Pelajar SMP berada di tahap perkembangan remaja awal dengan rentang usia 12-15 tahun. Permasalahan yang sering muncul pada masa remaja, seperti menghindari tugas dan memilih melakukan aktivitas yang lebih menyenangkan, menjadi tantangan yang perlu diperhatikan. Berdasarkan asesmen kebutuhan terhadap pelajar SMP kelas 8 di SMPN X ditemukan bahwa mereka kesulitan mengatur waktu dan cenderung menunda pengerjaan tugas sekolah, terutama yang dianggap sulit. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan suatu intervensi berupa sosialisasi untuk mengenalkan konsep prokrastinasi dan meningkatkan efikasi diri akademik. Intervensi ini dirancang untuk memberikan pemahaman kepada pelajar tentang penyebab dan dampak penundaan tugas sekolah dan strategi untuk mengatasi prokrastinasi. Tujuan dari pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini adalah memberikan edukasi kepada pelajar terkait prokrastinasi dengan menggunakan metode pre-post test. Pretest dan posttest dilakukan dengan menggunakan kuesioner pada awal dan akhir sesi kegiatan. Hasil pengabdian masyarakat menunjukkan bahwa meskipun tidak ada peningkatan yang signifikan pada skor efikasi diri akademik setelah intervensi, namun intervensi ini berhasil meningkatkan rasa tanggungjawab pelajar terhadap hasil belajar mereka. Selain itu, meskipun tidak ditemukan perbedaan skor prokrastinasi yang signifikan sebelum dan sesudah intervensi, pelajar yang melaporkan penurunan prokrastinasi cenderung mengalami peningkatan efikasi diri akademik sebagai dampak dari intervensi tersebut. Kata Kunci: efikasi diri akademik, pelajar SMP, prokrastinasi, rasa tanggungjawab, remaja awal [English]: The phenomenon of procrastination is often observed among students at school, including those at the junior high school level. Junior high school students are in the early adolescent stage, ranging from 12 to 15 years old. Common issues during adolescence, such as avoiding tasks and engaging in more enjoyable activities, present challenges that require attention. A needs assessment conducted among 8th-grade students at SMPN X revealed that they face difficulties in time management and tend to postpone completing school assignments, particularly those perceived as challenging. Therefore, an intervention through a socialization program is necessary to introduce the concept of procrastination and enhance academic self-efficacy. This intervention was designed to provide students with an understanding of the causes and consequences of procrastination and strategies to overcome it. This community service aims to educate students about procrastination using a pre-test and post-test method. Pre-tests and post-tests were conducted using questionnaires at the beginning and end of the sessions. The results of the community service program indicated that, although there was no significant increase in academic self-efficacy scores after the intervention, the program successfully improved students' sense of responsibility for their learning outcomes. Furthermore, while no significant differences were found in procrastination scores before and after the intervention, students who reported a decrease in procrastination tended to experience an increase in academic self-efficacy as an effect of the intervention. Abstract

This research aims to determine the role of self-efficacy in innovative work behavior among employees of PT Polytama Propindo, a manufacturing industry. The respondents in this study consist of 105 permanent employees of PT Polytama Propindo who have been working for at least one year and are aged between 25 and 65 years old. This is a quantitative research with two measurement instruments adapted into Indonesian: the General Self-Efficacy (GSE) scale to measure self-efficacy and the Individual Innovative Work Behavior (IWB) scale to measure innovative work behavior. The data analysis technique used is simple linear regression. The results of this study show that self-efficacy plays a significant role in innovative work behavior (R2Â = 0.291, Sig. = 0.000). This indicates that self-efficacy accounts for 29.1% of the variance in employee's innovative work behavior. The findings of this research are expected to contribute to the existing literature on innovative work behavior among employees and serve as a reference for companies to enhance their employee's self-efficacy. Abstract

Fraud is one of the criminal acts that often occurs in Indonesia. The individuals involved must lose their freedom. Then they will receive guidance from the Correctional Center (Bapas) to return to society. This research aims to determine the dynamics of the self-forgiveness process in adult clients with fraud cases at the Class I Malang Correctional Center (Bapas). This research method is qualitative phenomenology. Data was collected through semi-structured interviews, unstructured observation and documentation studies. The data will then be verified by source triangulation. The collected data was analyzed using Miles & Huberman analysis. The research results show that the self-forgiveness process experienced by each person is different. There were feelings of guilt in both informants, which was a factor in repeating the stages of self-forgiveness. As a result, the two informants had different movements in the self-forgiveness process. Bapas can provide support in the form of training and education regarding self-forgiveness to adult clients so that self-forgiveness can be implemented and can help adult clients live their lives again. Abstract

Individual innovative behavior reflects the exploration and application of new ideas in the work environment. Personality and cultural orientation (individualism vs. collectivism) play an important role in shaping an employee's innovative tendencies. Unfortunately, most current research still examines personality factors and cultural orientation factors separately, even though both factors have great potential to be interrelated in predicting individual innovative behavior. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the influence of personality and cultural orientation on individual innovative behavior in the workplace. This study uses a quantitative approach with a survey method. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling, with a total of 265 participants who are employees with at least one year of work experience. The research instruments consisted of the individual innovative behavior scale, the IPIP-BFM-25 Indonesia Scale, and the cultural orientation scale. The results of the study showed that individualist orientation, intellect personality, and conscientiousness were significantly related to the tendency of innovative behavior. Individuals who are open to new experiences, tend to be individualistic, have strong self-discipline, and have a high level of education are more likely to show innovative behavior. In addition, these characteristics are more often observed in male employees. Meanwhile, collectivism did not show a significant relationship with innovative behavior. These findings have important implications, both theoretically and practically. Theoretically, this study confirms that personality and culture orientation can play a role in shaping innovative behavior, although there is variation in their effects. Practically, these results indicate the importance of developing human resource management strategies that can encourage innovation by considering individual factors and work culture.

Abstract

This community service program aims to enhance digital and emotional social literacy of high school students to prevent them from being easily exposed to religious radicalism. The method of the community service program takes shape via interactive socialization about cognitive and social-emotional digital literacies as an antidote to extremist ideology involving 64 students at SMA Brawijaya Smart School, Malang City. The service evaluation instrument consists of a pre-test and post-test, which are then analyzed inferentially using the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test. The results of the socialization showed that the levels of participants’ understanding of radicalism in general, religious radicalism in particular, and cognitive and social-emotional digital literacies were significantly higher at the post-test stage compared to the pre-test stage. The final findings showed that participants positively evaluated the goal, implementation, and outcome from the socialization. Moreover, participants rated that socialization could meet their needs to know more about radicalism in general, religious radicalism in particular, and the cognitive and social-emotional digital literacies to tackle religious extremist ideology.

Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the effect of transformational leadership on innovative work behavior in baristas in the city of Malang. Respondents in this study were 126 baristas in Malang City (71 males and 55 females). This study uses a quantitative method with two scales, namely the Indonesian version of the transformational leadership scale which refers to the MLQ (Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire) Form 6s developed by Bass & Avolio (1992) and the individual innovative behavior scale which has been adapted by Nurmala & Widyasari (2021). ) which refers to the dimensions of innovative work behavior developed by Kleysen & Street (2001). The technique used in the data analysis process is using a simple linear regression test. The results of the study revealed that transformational leadership had a significant effect on innovative work behavior (R2 = 0.557, Sig. = 0.000). This shows that the influence of transformational leadership is able to explain 55.7% of innovative work behavior in baristas in Malang City.

Abstract

Mediapsi volume 8, number 1, June 2022 has published five empirical articles. All of the topics covered in each article are quite varied. The topic of the first article is a qualitative study using the Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) method which found that the meaning of job satisfaction for online motorcycle drivers consists of freedom, sufficiency, and harmony. Meanwhile, qualitative research with a phenomenological approach in the second article shows that depression is responding to negative emotions using expressive emphasis with the uniqueness that negative emotions are perceived as a problem. The third article is an idea to combine it by collecting data to identify the causative factors and the efforts taken to deal with the stress of doctors during the Covid-19 pandemic. The forth topic relates to social support and expectations of student resilience during the Covid-19 pandemic with the findings that there is a significant effect of these two variables. The fifth and final article is a qualitative study, which reports that there are individuals who are satisfied and some are dissatisfied with their breast size. This sixth article is related to breast size satisfaction vs. breast size dissatisfaction.   Lima artikel empiris telah dipublikasikan dalam Mediapsi edisi Juni 2022, volume 8 nomor 1. Topik yang dibahas dalam masing-masing artikel cukup bervariasi. Topik artikel pertama merupakan studi kualitatif dengan metode Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) yang menemukan bahwa makna kepuasan kerja pengemudi ojek online terdiri atas kebebasan, ketercukupan, dan keharmonisan. Sementara itu, penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologis dalam artikel kedua menunjukkan bahwa moderate depression menanggapi emosi negatif dengan cara expressive suppression dengan keunikan bahwa emosi negatif dipersepsikan sebagai suatu masalah. Artikel ketiga merupakan tinjauan sistematis dengan cara mengumpulkan data sekunder untuk mengidentifikasi faktor-faktor penyebab dan upaya yang ditempuh guna mengelola stress para dokter di masa pandemi Covid-19. Topik dalam artikel keempat berkaitan dengan dukungan sosial dan harapan terhadap resiliensi mahasiswa di masa pandemi Covid-19 dengan temuannya yaitu ada pengaruh signifikan dari kedua variabel tersebut. Artikel kelima sekaligus terakhir yang merupakan studi kualitatif, yang melaporkan bahwa ada individu ada yang merasa puas dan ada yang merasa tidak puas dengan ukuran payudaranya. Artikel keenam ini terkait dengan breast size satisfaction vs.  breast size dissatisfaction.

Abstract

This introductory section summarizes the contributions in this edition of MediaPsi. The first article discusses the benefits of interpersonal psychotherapy in reducing depression. The subsequent paper provides an overview of the development of cognitive function in preschool children during the Covid-19 pandemic. The third article enhances educators' awareness of the importance of developing positive teaching to increase learning effectiveness. The fourth contribution encourages fathers in Indonesia to be more involved in child-rearing. The final contribution discusses how logotherapy can help promote positive self-esteem.
