Abstract

This article or articles aims to measure the resilience index of tourist village communities in DIY, especially in independent and developed tourist villages, and find the factors that influence it. The problem is focused on the biggest impact of the COVID-19 pandemic faced by local communities that have a large dependence on tourism activities. This research is quantitative. Data was collected through a questionnaire survey conducted with the community of tourism village entrepreneurs in DIY. This research focuses the sample on independent and developed tourist villages that are more prepared to face the pandemic. A total of 130 samples were taken with a confidence level of 92% based on the Slovin formula. The first research objective was analyzed by adopting the HCRI (Household Climate Resilience Index) calculation and the second objective was analyzed using multiple linear regression analysis. HCRI calculations are analyzed with the help of tables, percentages, and HCRI models which are used to assess community resilience based on respondents' responses to 31 resilience indicators. Resilience weights of 1-5 are given to indicators classified on a Likert scale, namely very high (5), high (4), medium (3), low (2), and very low (1), which means household resilience increases as the calculated value increases. The final results of this calculation are classified into five categories starting from very low resilience to very high resilience. The results of the analysis show that communities in developed and independent tourist villages in DIY have relatively high resilience in facing the COVID-19 pandemic. This resilience is influenced by economic, institutional, and social capital factors. However, tourist villages in DIY still need to be aware of the threat of vulnerability that may still occur during the COVID-19 pandemic in 12 indicators related to the economic condition of the community. These results have implications for the need to increase community resilience in developed/independent tourist villages by considering vulnerability factors in this research. In this case, both the government and tourist village managers are advised to focus more on programs to improve the quality of tourism business actors' resources and also the ability to mitigate economic losses after the COVID-19 pandemic to maintain the stability and sustainability of the economy of tourist village communities.

Abstract

This research aims to identify the community's level of knowledge regarding the flood and tide infrastructure development program constructed by the Government of Pekalongan City. Additionally, it aims to formulate recommendations for future program improvements based on the community's perspective. The research utilized a mixed-method approach. Data were collected through a questionnaire administered to 155 respondents. The sampling technique used is proportionate stratified sampling based on population data and the extent of flood-affected areas. Subsequently, data were gathered through a Forum Group Discussion (FGD) involving community leaders. The study employed descriptive statistics and SWOT analysis. The results showed that a significant portion of the community is aware of some flood and tide control infrastructures built by the Government of Pekalongan City, although not all. The community perceived the infrastructure development as less successful. The community perceived that the current infrastructure development needs to be accelerated, leveled, improved, integrated, and adjusted to the needs of each affected region, involving the community in every stage of the program. The findings suggest that the Government of Pekalongan City needs to optimize the development of flood and tide control infrastructure. Abstract

This study aims to identify the vulnerabilities faced by tourist villages, especially the advanced tourist villages, during the Covid-19 pandemic. The research was conducted in five advanced tourist villages in different districts/municipalities in DIY. Basically, this study is a quantitative research. Data was collected through a questionnaire survey process among the village residents. The analysis technique used is descriptive statistics. The results of the study show that there are still several factors that remain vulnerable for the tourist villages' communities in DIY when facing Covid-19. These factors include financial conditions, the sustainability of tourism activities, the sustainability of social interactions, and the level of community adaptation. One way to reduce these vulnerabilities is through innovation. However, the vulnerabilities caused by Covid-19 are still greater compared to the efforts made by some other tourist villages. There are still several challenges faced by tourist villages for recovery, such as the lack of visitor enthusiasm, lack of innovation and attractiveness, lack of budget, and decreased visitor trust. In this regard, the preparedness and capacity of tourist village communities in facing disasters still need to be improved. Thus, efforts are still needed to prepare communities for possible future detrimental events and to enhance their capacity and resilience for recovery.
