Abstract

The advancement of technology has changed the way we access entertainment, including adult songs that quickly become popular. Young children easily access such content, impacting their growth and development, as adult songs often touch on themes like romance and infidelity. At Kartika Kindergarten IV-73 Jember, some children enjoy singing adult songs they find on social media platforms such as YouTube and TikTok. This research aims to describe the impact of adult songs on the social-emotional development of 5-6 year-old children at Kartika Kindergarten IV-73 Jember. The research method used is qualitative with a descriptive approach, employing data collection techniques such as interviews, observations, and documentation. The research results show both positive and negative impacts. Positively, there's better emotional expression in children. However, there are negative impacts due to exposure to violent content, which can trigger aggressive behavior and difficulties in managing emotions. Media influence can also alter perceptions and behaviors related to social relationships and love, including difficulty in adhering to rules and displaying less disciplined behavior. Nonetheless, children still demonstrate attitudes of sharing, competition, and empathy in interactions with peers. In conclusion, it's crucial for adults to monitor children's access to media content, especially adult songs, to minimize negative impacts and support their positive development

Abstract

The introduction of learning through local culture is one of the efforts to preserve indigenous cultures, enabling children to experience and participate in activities related to local traditions. Cultural activities contain unique values that can be used as learning tools in schools, both as an introduction and as a habitual practice. Banyuwangi Regency, located in the easternmost part of East Java Province, remains strongly committed to preserving its indigenous cultural heritage, particularly the culture of the Osing Tribe. The Osing Tribe in Banyuwangi has numerous cultural activities that can be integrated into early childhood education, as children actively participate in various cultural events within their community. The purpose of this study is to explore the ethnopedagogy practices among the Osing Tribe in Banyuwangi, specifically in early childhood education. A qualitative descriptive ethnograpy method was used to observe and understand ethnopedagogy in the learning environment of Kartini Kindergarten in Kemiren Village, Banyuwangi. The study found that there are several learning activities at Kartini Kindergarten that incorporate Osing culture into the education and habituation processes, allowing children to internalize the cultural values of the Osing Tribe. These activities include wearing traditional attire as school uniforms, participating in Banyuwangi traditional dance extracurriculars, dedicating a special day each week to introduce Osing culture through typical Banyuwangi foods, using the Osing language in learning, and engaging in traditional games.

Abstract

Teachers are a key factor in realizing educational quality, particularly in early childhood education (ECE), where professional commitment, innovation, and resilience are crucial. High turnover intention among ECE teachers threatens the continuity and quality of learning. This study aims to develop a model for implementing the basic values of commitment—comprising dedication to goals, efficiency, innovation, and teaching quality—moderated by compensation satisfaction, to reduce turnover intention. The research focuses on understanding how internal and external motivational factors contribute to teacher retention in ECE institutions. A quantitative approach was employed involving 119 ECE teachers in Jember Regency, East Java, Indonesia. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling with Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS 3.0). Variables measured include core values of organizational commitment, compensation satisfaction, and turnover intention control. Validity and reliability tests confirmed the robustness of the measurement model. The results show that all four dimensions of teacher commitment have a significant negative relationship with turnover intention. Teachers who demonstrate strong alignment with institutional goals, efficiently use resources, engage in innovation, and uphold high teaching standards are significantly less likely to express an intention to leave. Compensation satisfaction was found to be a significant moderating variable that strengthened the relationship between commitment and reduced turnover. Furthermore, a supportive work environment—characterized by physical and emotional well-being, positive peer relationships, and opportunities for professional development—was identified as a contextual enhancer of retention. Theoretically, this study contributes to the refinement of organizational commitment theory in the context of early childhood education in developing countries. Practically, the findings provide actionable insights for policymakers and school administrators to implement targeted retention strategies that address both intrinsic motivations and extrinsic conditions. Future studies are encouraged to include broader variables such as leadership, career advancement, and psychological well-being, as well as test the model across different educational settings.
