Abstract

The research area around Gunung Geulis has been shifted from agricultural land into residential areas. This transformation eventually will affect the water infiltration process especially throughout the rainy season and can cause the intensity of the erosion rate to go higher. Soil erodibility is defined as the susceptibility of the soil to erosion, as the degree to which a soil is easily eroded or not. This research was conducted to determine the erodibility value in an area of ± 25 km2 which administratively belongs to the Districts of Cimanggung and Jatinangor, Sumedang Regency, West Java Province. The erodibility value can be calculated by the method introduced by Wischmeier and Smith (1978) and it is determined based on several parameters, namely texture of the soil, soil structure, permeability value, and organic (%C) content in a soil sample. The research data was obtained by engineering geological mapping of the distribution of surface soil, taking undisturbed soil samples using the hand auger method, and laboratory tests in the form of testing the physical properties of the soil. Then several laboratory tests are conducted to identify the physical properties of soil such as organic (%C) content analysis using Walkley and Black method, grain size analysis, hydrometer analysis, and permeability analysis using the falling head method. In the research area, the soil type is divided into two units, namely the Low Plasticity Silt Unit and the High Plasticity Silt Unit. Soil erodibility values around Gunung Geulis ranged from 0.118 to 0.514 0,1-ton acre hour/acre foot-ton inch which was included in the classification of a low, medium, moderately high, and high erodibility levels according to US customary dimensions.

Abstract

Slope stability analysis is a necessary aspect in open mining operations. The research location is in the Muaraenim Formation, South Sumatra, Indonesia. In this study, the level of slope stability is determined by the value of the Safety Factor (FS). The method used is limit equilibrium, the Spencer method. The results of this study indicate that FS values are influenced by the angle of the slope, where with decreasing degree of slope, the FS value will increase. In addition, the FS value is also directly proportional to the cohesion value of the slope materials.

Abstract

The research is conducted in Cibogo District, Subang Regency. Focus of the research is taking samples in area inside Kaliwangu Formation by doing field observation and field sampling using disturbed sample method then it will be tested in laboratory for its basic physical properties. Result of its basic physical properties will be analyzed to determine their swelling potential by taking 5 sample of soil from Kaliwangu Formation. Based on sieve analysis every sample of Kaliwangu Formation (Pk) have more than 50% of clay fraction for each sample, and based on Atterberg limit test Kaliwangu Formation (Pk) samples are dominated by Silt High Plasticity (MH) soil with 3 samples of the MH type and only 2 samples of the CH type. According to consistency limit test of Kaliwangu Formation (Pk) soil, the swelling potential can be determined by classify it based on liquid limit (%) and plasticity index (%) using swelling potential classification. Using the soil consistency value, especially the liquid limit value and the plasticity index value, it can be classified as the swelling potential of Kaliwangu Formation (Pk) classified as high - very high potential with a very high dominance.

Abstract

Landslides are significant geological events that can cause extensive damage to infrastructure, disrupt communities, and pose serious safety hazards. Understanding the mechanisms behind slope failures is crucial for effective risk mitigation and the development of engineering solutions to improve slope stability. According to data from the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), Indonesia experienced 83 landslide events from January to February 2024. A notable landslide occurred in Nanggerang Village, Sukasari Sub-district, Sumedang Regency, West Java Province, on February 3, 2024. This landslide happened in a terraced rice field area following heavy rainfall earlier in the day. This study focuses on evaluating the failed slope to understand its condition just before failure and the material properties that influence the landslide event. The research methodology includes field data collection, soil testing, and slope stability analysis using the Limit Equilibrium Method (LEM) with a probabilistic approach via Slide 2 software. The analysis revealed that the failed slope had an average safety factor (FS) of 0.968 and a landslide probability of 58.897%. Sensitivity analysis showed that the cohesion parameter in the soil layer (CWZ) significantly impacts the safety factor of the slope. The study concludes that the reduction in soil cohesion and internal friction angle due to excessive moisture was the primary cause of the landslide, and the cohesion parameter of the soil layer is the most sensitive factor affecting slope stability.

Abstract

West Java has a complex geological structure characteristic due to subduction events in the south of Java Island. The control of the geological structure affects the formation of the surrounding landscape, so analysis is needed to assess its activities. The research was conducted in the Cisokan sub-watershed in the Cilengkong and Cisukarama segments in Cianjur and West Bandung districts, West Java. The purpose of this study was to determine the morphometric and morphotectonic characteristics of the Cisokan watershed in the Cilengkong and Cisukarama segments. The method used is studio analysis using applications to process digital image data into morphometric and morphotectonic analysis parameters. The parameters analyzed were the bifurcation ratio, drainage density, basin shape index, drainage basin asymmetry, and mountain front sinuosity. The results obtained are that the Cilengkong segment has an Rb value of 4 - 4.5 with a medium flow density, a BS value of 1.80, an AF value of 25.8, and an SMF value of 1.19 - 2.78. The Cisukarama 1 segment has an Rb value of 4 - 4.25, a BS value of 1.62, an AF value of 57.14, and an SMF value of 1.66 - 3.41. The Cisukarama 2 segment has a value of Rb 3 - 4.25, a BS value of 1.59, an AF value of 42.5, and an SMF value of 1.34 and 2.13. The conclusion obtained is that tectonic activity as a landscape-forming factor in the study area decreases or even stops.

Abstract

Slope stability is an important aspect of the mining operation. Hence, an in-depth understanding of slope stability and variable that affect it is very crucial.  This research was conducted in pit tunggal, Borneo. The aim of this research is to identify the correlation between overall slope and slope stability in highwall slope at pit tunggal. Slope stability analysis was conducted with SLIDE V 6.00 software using Morgenstern-Price’s limit equilibrium method. The result of this research shows that, as the highwall slope gets steeper, the slope stability represented by a factor of safety (FS) may decrease. Otherwise, when the highwall slope gets declivous, the factor of safety may increase.

Abstract

Holtekamp bridge which is located in Jayapura region between Hamadi and Holtekamp Village inthe Northern part of Papua island. The region constitutes an active earthquake zone with therecurrence frequency and magnitude of the earthquake are relatively high. The region is locatedon an active fault zone. The seismotectonics setting in this region is directly implied to thecalculations of the seismic design for engineering and design purposes on building and non-buildingstructures including Holtekamp bridge in Jayapura city. To recognize a characteristic of theearthquake at the site of interest, the historical earthquakes (background) data surrounding thestudy area. Local microtremor measurements data are analyzed by means of a probabilisticseismic hazard analysis (PSHA). Deterministic seismic hazard analysis (DSHA) using someground-motion models in attenuation relationship equations. In resulting of seismic hazardparameter as represented by peak ground acceleration (PGA), values in earthquake scenario atoperating basis earthquake (OBE), maximum design earthquake (MDE), and maximum credibleearthquake (MCE) conditions. These values are used as a reference to evaluate the complianceof the current technical aspects with the new required design facing the updated seismicityparameters.Keyword : Jayapura, Holtekamp, seismic Hazard Analysis, Peak Ground Acceleration.

Abstract

The Sadawarna Dam and its surroundings, which are located in Subang Regency, are currently under construction. Change in land use caused by the construction occurred. Land management and soil conservation are needed to prevent uncontrolled erosion because it can caused slopes in critical condition, flood occurred in the downstream areas of river, and silting of dam. One of the information in land management and soil conservation is by identifying the soil erodibility which aims to find out the sensitivity of the soil to erosion in the research area. Soil erodibility affected by grain size distribution, soil structure, soil organic matter, and soil permeability. In this research area, the soil erodibility was calculated based on disturbed sample in the field which was then tested in the laboratory. The laboratory tests include sieve analysis, hydrometer analysis, and %c organic. Soil permeability obtained from previous studies. The research area is dominated by clay-sized soil which are the result of weathered claystone in Subang Formation. Soil erodibility value in the research area ranged from 1,100 – 0,448 t ha h/ha MJ cm with dominance of low soil erodibility classes. The dominance of clay-sized soil causes low soil erodibility value because clay sized soil has cohesive properties so it tends to be difficult to erode.

Abstract

The shape of a landscape is the result of geological processes in the past as well as human processes at this time. Slope mapping is one way of identifying hazards based on current landforms. Cintaratu Village area is an area that has a unique landscape condition because it has a lot of clastic limestone as a result of the karstification process millions of years ago and is currently experiencing significant developments in infrastructure development. This study aims to see the state of the slope around Cintaratu Village. This research uses a qualitative method that will be described as descriptively. Based on the results, several areas have very steep slopes form by clastic limestones and soils. The mean slope varies from 30° to 90° with a height of up to 30 m.

Abstract

Landslide are natural disasters that often occur in West Java, in 2020 landslides have occurred 852 times. In an effort to prevent the occurrence of rock landslides, it is necessary to study the stability of rock slopes, so it is necessary to evaluate the discontinuity of the rock and take engineering geological. The purpose of this study is to analyze the stability of rock slopes in the study area so that the types of landslides that can occur can be known. Method used is Kinematic Analysis where the object of research is an andesite outcrop located at the northwest foot of Mount Geulis, Cinanjung Village, Jatinangor District. Kinematic analysis is an analysis of the movement of objects without considering the forces that cause them. Various types of slope failure are associated with geological structures that result in a discontinuity plane in the rock body. The results of the study are in the form of determining the potential for landslides that can occur in the research area. Based on the kinematic analysis of the types of failure in the research area that can occur are wedge types in the MT-2, MT-5, and MT-6 segments and toppling types in the MT-3, MT-4, MT-7 segments and Planar failure found in the MT - 1 segment. potential failure in the study area are toppling and wedge with percentage values for the possibility of landslides were obtained, namely: wedge failure is 1.82% - 3.91% and toppling failure is 21.82% - 38.95% and Planar failure is 55.81%
