The subject of this research is the Arabic language lecturers of IAIN Palangka Raya who teach MaharahIstima’ course. It uses observations, interviews, and documentations for the data collection techniques, and is validated using triangulation method. The results showed that there were nine learning activities of the implementation of Cartoon Story Maker based semester learning plan, namely; (1) Providing information to the students about the course’s learning objectives. (2) Giving apperception about the learning material. (3) Preparing and displaying Cartoon Story Maker media. (4) Students listen and prepare their stationeries (5) Students mention the main and supporting ideas. (6) Providing responses and corrections (7) Reminding the students to write the new vocabulary obtained. (8) Students make conclusions (9) Providing an explanation or summary about the material. The specification of this RPS with the previous one is that it is designed and clearly described the assessment indicators which include a series of more innovative activities, where learning is more centred on students and lecturers only act as facilitators and monitor the learning objectives. Lecturers only provide learning resources by creating Cartoon Story Maker as an interesting and effective learning media.

Abstract

The reason for choosing this research stems from the researcher's interest in exploring the practice of an Arabic language teacher who conducts self-study, to improve the quality of learning that he does. The qualitative research method, using a phenomenological approach, was chosen because it was felt that this research method was the most appropriate to further explore information related to independent learning carried out by Arabic language teachers. Data was collected by looking at the whole process of daily activities, in-depth interviews, and observations of independent learning carried out. The subject of this research is an Arabic teacher who was chosen based on the criteria of self-learning represented through daily activities. The results of this study report that there are seven independent learning activities carried out, namely: reading, watching video tutorials, listening to podcasts, taking online courses, conducting experiments, discussing with others, and attending training programs. This research contributes to expanding the study of self-learning, which is important for teachers to do, as a self-effort to improve the quality of Arabic language learning.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic which began to plague Indonesia in March 2020 had a major impact on academic activities in higher education, including at IAIN Palangka Raya. This situation requires the lecturers to find ways to adapt to new conditions and reduce the risk of virus transmission. This study is a descriptive-qualitative research that aims to uncover the learning process of Mahārah Istimā’ using WhatsApp Group media seen from the learning objectives, materials, strategies, and evaluation. The subject of this research is lecturers of Arabic Education (PBA) at IAIN Palangka Raya who teach the Mahārah Istimā’ course. Data of the research was collected from observation, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that the learning process of Mahārah Istimā’ during the Covid-19 pandemic could run optimally in terms of the learning objectives, materials, strategies, and evaluation. The objectives of Mahārah Istimā’ learning are to understand, develop, interact, observe, conclude, and classify information. The learning materials used can be in the form of discourses, conversations, songs, guessing games, or chain messages using audio that is played through the voice note feature on the WhatsApp application. The strategies used include: (1) listen and then say, (2) listen and then answer, (3) listen and then identify, and (4) listen and then refine. The evaluations meant here involve daily evaluations for each assignment and summative evaluations, i.e. the midterm exam and the final exam.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic to date has caused learning to be carried out remotely to prevent further transmission of the virus. The use of Google Classroom is a solution for learning fiqh lughah online at this critical time. So far, there are still few studies that examine student perceptions of online learning of fiqh lughah. Therefore, this study aims to investigate student perceptions of online learning of fiqh lughah using Google Classroom. This research is exploratory, investigative research with 33 students as the subject. All exploratory data were analyzed using descriptive statistical techniques by adopting several steps: tabulating the Microsoft Excel application data, adding a percentage score to the data, and presenting the analyzed data in a summary table. These findings reveal that distance learning using Google Classroom gets a positive response from students even though they have to adapt more intensely to be comfortable with the learning process. Therefore, learning fiqh lughah through Google Classroom should be considered as an alternative media for online learning.

Abstract

To realize the driving of teachers as planned by the government, it cannot be separated from various forms of professional competence that must be mastered as teachers’ identity. However, the identity, which is the qualification standard, is not evenly shared by Arabic language teachers, especially in several districts in the Kalimantan region. Therefore, this research aims to describe the identity of Arabic teachers as driving teacher resources in Arabic language learning to become driving teacher figures in the Kalimantan Region. This research uses a mixed method, combining qualitative and quantitative methods using a concurrent triangulation design. The research results show that the identity of Arabic teachers in Central Kalimantan is formed from their experiences so far, which require them to do more even though some do not have a non-Arabic language educational background. The emotional aspect of Arabic teachers who teach the Arabic language used in the Al-Quran and hadith fosters the teacher's enthusiasm to become a motivator, inspiration, and facilitator who always looks for solutions to problems in learning Arabic. Even though the teachers are located in the regions, this does not reduce the teachers' identity as teachers with pedagogical, social, personal, and professional competencies. Individuals who play the role of teachers always learn continuously throughout life and have the moral, emotional, and spiritual maturity to behave according to a code of ethics: planning, implementing, reflecting, and evaluating learning. This research recommends exploring the identity of Arabic teachers not only at the regional level but also at the national level.

Abstract

The existence of YouTube social media as a medium to support the Arabic learning process has been widely discussed by researchers. However, the existence of this media has the potential for misunderstanding of educators in implementing YouTube as a substitute for the role of educators in the learning process. This article aims to explore students' perspectives regarding the phenomenon of misunderstanding in Nahwu science learning and recommendations so that the lecture process can run effectively. Narrative approach was used in this research. The research data were obtained from interviews with 32 students from various districts in Central Kalimantan Province. From the results of the study, it was found that students gave positive and negative perceptions about Nahwu science learning using the YouTube media. However, negative perceptions dominate more with various expressions of disappointment from students. The students definitely felt aggrieved by the implementation of the Nahwu lecture which was limited to using the YouTube media without being accompanied by further explanations from the lecturers who taught the Nahwu course. Students recommend lecturers to be more involved in the Nahwu lecture process rather than simply sharing video material that is already available on YouTube media.

The formulation of the problem in this study is: how to use Vlogs in learning Mahārah kalām and What is the perception of students regarding the use of Vlogs on learning Mahārah kalām. This study uses descriptive qualitative research methods with trianguliation techniques namely observation, interviews, and documentation. The results revealed the use of Vlog /Vlogging in Mahārah kalām learning using the following steps: (1) Determination of the theme by lecturers supporting the course, (2) Preparation of ideas as material for making scripts/scenarios, (3) Site selection, (4) Evaluation of results, (5) and publication of Vlog video results on social media accounts. received a very positive response from students of the IAIN Palangka Raya Language Education Study Program. 28 out of 30 students gave positive responses regarding the use of Vlogs in the learning of Mahārah kalām. This positive response is based on several reasons: its use is easy, flexible, practical, and economical. Students are also required to be more creative in making vlogging videos so as to produce a good video. but the use of Vlog is also not free from negative responses such as cheating by students who seem to hide the text/script behind the camera so that the video presented is not entirely pure from the results of Mahārah kalām.
