Abstract

The balanced role of local communities in tourism development will arise in our minds when we discuss sustainable tourism. Dynamic tourism in Indonesia currently offers many strategic issues related to how to involve local communities to support its development, including adapting local values as an optimization strategy for Sapta Pesona Indonesia. On the other hand, local wisdom as cultural capital to support community resilience is very potential in maintaining the balance and sustainability of tourism development. This article aims to describe how the jerampah behavior in the Malay community of Sambas regency can be a potential cultural capital in supporting the internalization of the Sapta Pesona Indonesia program, especially for the hospitality value. A descriptive qualitative approach was used with the main data collection method in the form of interviews, observation, and analysis of secondary data obtained from news content on the tourism agenda in Temajuk Village and its surroundings from 2019 to 2020. It can be concluded that there is relevance between the jerampah behavior and the hospitality indicator in Sapta Pesona Indonesia. This cultural capital has also a social construction based on history. It is manifested in verbal and behavioral forms and relevant to be included in the internalization strategy of Sapta Pesona Indonesia based on local wisdom. Some Research by focusing on the internalization model of sapta pesona is needed for future research with similar themes.

Abstract

Cultural heritage has been recognized as a relevant discourse in the planning of tourism village development within the international context; however, existing literature reveals certain limitations. A critical aspect of addressing this issue pertains to the integration of local assets into community empowerment initiatives. Consequently, this study seeks to investigate the tourism potential of Desa Sekura by employing an ethnography-based model of community empowerment that incorporates local assets. Utilizing an ethnographic methodology, this research examines the ways in which cultural traditions, social capital, and natural resources in Desa Sekura, West Kalimantan, Indonesia, can be leveraged to promote sustainable tourism development. The findings suggest that principles of social inclusion, community participation, and locally-based management can enhance the tourism potential of Desa Sekura while preserving its cultural identity. Furthermore, the evolution of local institutions in the management and utilization of cultural and social assets is effectively illustrated as a means of fostering tourism village potential. This study aims to contribute new perspectives on the development of tourism villages that emphasize local community empowerment and the preservation of cultural heritage as essential components of sustainable economic development.

Abstract

This study examines the role of the Pulo Sarok Village Government in Aceh Singkil Regency in managing village funds to support fishermen's empowerment from a public policy perspective. The main focus is to analyze the effectiveness of implemented policies and the challenges encountered in the allocation and utilization of village funds, including limitations in human resources, constrained budgets, and low technological literacy among local fishermen. Using a qualitative approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, field observations, and documentation of relevant policies. The findings indicate that although village funds are distributed regularly, their implementation remains suboptimal due to weak inter-agency coordination, limited oversight from the regency government, and low levels of community participation. Economic empowerment efforts have yet to show a significant impact on improving the fishermens welfare. This study highlights the importance of transparency in fund management, the strengthening of local human resource capacity, and synergy between village and regency governments to create sustainable policies that support the fisheries sector and the livelihoods of fishermen in Pulo Sarok Village.
