Abstract

The researcher analyzes taboo words that uttered by some characters in the monkey movie use sociolinguistic approach. The purpose of this research are to analyze and explain types of taboo word and the function of taboo word.          In analyzing the data, the researcher using descriptive qualitative research purposed by Endaswara (2013). The data are gained through non-participant method. The sources of the data are the monkey movie and its transcript. The data are collected by selecting dialogues containing taboo word after watching the video and matching the transcript with subtitle of the movie with carefully. The researcher gets the data is formed by word and phrase that refers to taboo word. The data are presented through formal and informal method and using table for data presented.            The result of this research are stated as follows. The first,  four types of taboo words occur in the characters utterance in the monkey movie. There are  epithet, profanity, vulgarity, and obscenity. From 17 data that found in the movie, epithet are the most appearing type in this movie with nominal data : 7 data ephitet, 5 data profanity, 3 data obscenity, 2 data vulgarity. While for the function the researcher only found there from four types. And the strongest function that appear on this movie is to show contempt. With nominal 12 data refers to to show contempt, 3 data refers to draw attention and 3 data refers to be propocative

Abstract

This research clarifies about the kinds of methapors that found in the” seloko Adat” traditional ceremonies in merangin culture This research applied descriptive qualitative research in which the data are obtained from seloko adat in traditional ceremony. it took from Lubuk Bumbun village in Merangin regency. The data are collected by observational method supported by note-taking and interview technique. After analyzing the data, it is found that there are 10 metaphors included into three from four kinds of methapor. The result of the research showed there are animistic, synaesthetic and concret to abstreact of methapor. Animistic metaphor dominant exist in seloko adat traditional ceremonies on Merangin culture .The meaning of each metaphor is understood in light of the current situation.

Abstract

The aims of this research is to determine  negative politeness strategies in sellers and buyers interaction at “Pasar kamis” in Pulau Aro Village. Several phases of the descriptive qualitative approach were used to perform this study. The first strategy involved gathering information by means of observation, elicitation, and advanced techniques such as record and taking notes. Yule's and levinson’s theory and a few related and corroborating literature are used to assess data. The researcher employed the referential method to analyze the data. The data analysis is then presented in an informal manner.The analysis's findings were presented in an informal method. Seven types of negative politeness strategies can be identified from the 10 form categories, including: be conventionally, indirect, question (hedge, be pessimistic, minimize the imposition, and  apologize.

Abstract

This research analyzes the impoliteness strategies used by customers of Muara Bungo Home Credit through WhatsApp text messages and how the strategies function in delivering the impoliteness between the customers and the employees of Home Credit. The purposes of this research are (1) to identify the types of impoliteness strategies used by customers of Muara Bungo Home Credit; (2) to analyze the functions of impoliteness strategies aimed by customers of Muara Bungo Home Credit.. The research also applied descriptive qualitative method, with the customers’ WhatsApp text messages as the source of the data.The result of this research shows that, (1) there are 19 data of impoliteness strategies found in the WhatsApp text messages from customers’ of Muara Bungo Home Credit, which are sarcasm/mock politeness (4 data), positive impoliteness (3 data), negative impoliteness (6 data) and bald on record impoliteness (6 data) which occurred the most in the research; (2) all 19 data of impoliteness strategies used by the customers had different functions, which are affective (7 data), entertaining (4 data) and coercive (8 data), which is the most applied function in the research.

Abstract

This research studies about affixes. The purposes of this research to identify the kinds of affixes, the process and the function of affixation in Javanese Language uttered by Sumber Agung villagers. This research uses descriptive qualitative method. Data are gained through participating technique, recording technique, and writing technique. The data are analyzed with theories proposed by Yule (1985) and Connor-Linton (2006). The data are presented through informal method.The results of this research show that there are 65 words of Javanese Language which are embedded with affixes. There are 4 kinds of affixes; prefixes, suffixes, infixes, and confixes. The five kinds of prefixes include {ng-}, {di-}, {ben-}, {ke-}, and {ny-}. The five kinds of suffixes include {-e}, {-ne}, {-an}, {-ane}, and {-en}, 1 word is involved in one kind of infix that is {-cici-}, and 5 words are involved in 2 kinds of confixes. The two confixes include {di--i} and {ng--i}. The process of affixes of this research includes derivational and inflectional affixation. The affixes have function of forming noun, verb, adjective, adverb, and numeric

Abstract

This study analyzes the types and the change of meaning of borrowing words found in CNN Indonesia instagram caption. the objectives of this research are (1) to classify the types of borrowing words in CNN Indonesia instagram caption, and (2) to explain the changes of meaning of borrowing words in CNN Indonesia instagram caption.            The writer used descriptive qualitative method because the research focuses on describing the types and the change of meaning of borrowing words in CNN Indonesia instagram caption. In collecting data, the writer used non-participant observation technique and then the writer used distributional method in analyzing the data. in order to make easier the readers, the writer explains the types and the of meaning  with tables and abbreviation code. the data were words that contain of borrowing words. After the data were collected, the data were classified and explained Based on Hocket’s theory (1958), that proposed some types of borrowing word. and also Baugh’s theory (1993), that explained the change of meaning of borrowing word.            The result of the study reveals some findings: The writer found 30 borrowing words in the caption, 24 words are loanblend types, and 6 words are contained in loanword type. From 30 borrowing words, 11 words have change the meaning, 3 word are extention in the type of change of meaning, 8 words contained narrowing type, and 19 words no change the meaning. Therefore, the writer concluded that the dominant types of borrowing in CNN Indonesia instagram caption is loanblend, then the dominant types of change of meaning in CNN Indonesia Instagram caption is narrowing. but, in the caption more dominant borrowing words no change the meaning.
