Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the unplugged coding method in improving elementary students’ computational thinking skills, identify the CT components that develop, and evaluate its potential as a contextual, inclusive, and sustainable learning solution. This study employs a systematic literature review using the PRISMA technique, selecting 31 journal articles were indexed in reputable databases such as Scopus and SINTA published between 2021 and 2025. The articles were analyzed thematically based on relevance to CT and unplugged methods in elementary education. Results show that the unplugged coding method is an effective and contextually relevant approach to enhancing computational thinking (CT) skills in elementary school students. The effectiveness of this method is reflected in the development of key CT components and its positive contribution to student motivation and engagement in learning. Scientifically, these findings support the argument that strengthening CT does not necessarily rely on digital technology, but can be achieved through contextual and hands-on learning strategies. Therefore, unplugged coding has the potential to serve as a strategic alternative in primary informatics education, particularly in resource-constrained settings. As an implication, this study recommends the development of national teaching guidelines and policies to systematically support the integration of the unplugged approach into the curriculum. Further experimental research across diverse school contexts is needed to assess its long-term impact and to enrich best practices in implementation.

Abstract

ABSTRACTClassroom Action Research (PTK) is research that aims to identify learning problems in the classroom so that appropriate solutions are obtained to realize effective learning. PTK has now become a requirement for teacher professional development. However, teachers at SDN Kedungcowek are less capable in making PTK. This prompted the community service team to hold PTK training for teachers at the school. This training consists of three stages, the first stage is planning, at this stage the community service team coordinates with partners, the second stage carries out training, and the third stage, reflection. At this stage, the community service team measures participants' understanding of the training provided. As a result, most participants had a moderate understanding of the PTK training provided by the community service team. This is shown by the majority of teachers choosing a score of 3 for each indicator on the questionnaire distributed after the training.

Abstract

English language learning in class VIII-B is still perceived as suboptimal, as evidenced by the number of students who are unable to write recount texts accurately. The researcher implemented differentiated learning focused on content for the students. The research aimed to determine how to improve students’ ability to write recount texts through photo media in class VIII-B. The research design included two cycles: Cycle 1 and Cycle 2. The data type used was quantitative, examining in-depth the results of writing recount texts using photo media, drawing conclusions from students’ learning outcomes, observing activities, and collecting responses from students. The students’ learning outcomes in Cycle 1 were 12.0%, with 3 students completing the task and 22 students (88.0%) not completing it. In Cycle 2, 14 students (56.0%) completed the task, indicating a significant improvement due to the use of photo media. Therefore, it can be concluded that differentiated learning through photo media is highly effective in enhancing recount text writing skills, leading to an interactive and creative classroom.

Abstract

The Nyadran tradition is one of the Javanese cultural rituals that is still maintained as part of social and religious life. In Mojodadi Village, Kedungpring District, Lamongan Regency, the Nyadran tradition is unique for blending Hindu-Javanese elements with Islamic teachings. This phenomenon indicates the practice of cultural syncretism that not only survives but also adapts to the belief system of modern society. This study aims to describe the form of syncretism and reveal the values ??contained in the implementation of the Nyadran Tradition in Mojodadi Village. This study uses a qualitative, descriptive method. Data collection techniques include direct observation during the implementation of the Nyadran ritual, in-depth interviews with caretakers, religious leaders, village officials, and community supporters of the tradition, and documentation in the form of photos, videos, and recordings of ritual speech. Data analysis is carried out through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and systematic conclusion drawing. The results of the study indicate that syncretism in the Nyadran Tradition is apparent in three main dimensions, namely the verbal dimension characterized by the combination of Javanese ujub and mantras with the recitation of Yasin, tahlil, and Islamic prayers; the material dimension seen in the use of ambeng, flowers, and offerings that are reinterpreted as a form of charity; and the spatial-temporal dimension reflected in the choice of the lake as the location of the ritual and the month of Maulud as the time of implementation. In addition, the Nyadran Tradition contains religious-spiritual, social-collective, and moral-ethical values ??that strengthen the community's cultural identity. Thus, the Nyadran Tradition serves as a bridge between ancestral cultural heritage and Islamic teachings, and it plays a social, spiritual, and educational role for the people of Mojodadi Village.

Abstract

The tradition of atolong is a practice of mutual cooperation that is still preserved on Bawean Island, Gresik, East Java, in weddings and funerals. This tradition represents the spirit of togetherness and cultural identity of the Bawean community. This study aims to describe the form of implementation and socio-symbolic meaning of atolong through a sociosemiotic perspective. The study uses a qualitative descriptive approach with in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation in Tambak and Sangkapura subdistricts. Data analysis was conducted using Charles Sanders Peirce's semiotic theory (icon, index, symbol) combined with a socio-semiotic approach to interpret the meaning of signs in a socio-cultural context. The results show four forms of assistance, namely labor, knowledge, money, and goods. Symbols such as yellow rice, tetebbhuen, ongkek, pelangki, and rabis are interpreted as prayers for safety, warding off evil, fertility, and social recognition. These findings confirm that the tradition of atolong strengthens social solidarity, preserves cultural identity, and balances pre-Islamic values with Islamic teachings.
