Abstract

Teaching writing skill is one form of teaching language skills that must be mastered by students. One of the important writing activities carried out by students in school is the skill of drama scripts writing. However, in learning material for writing scripts, there were still many students learning outcomes that did not meet the KKM. The weakness of students in writing drama scripts was caused by various factors, such as the technique or approach used by the teacher was not appropriate and the learning materials provided were inadequate for students. So that the aim of the study was to produce a problem-based module in the learning of drama scripts writing. Further, the research subjects were eighth-grade students of SMPN 4 Siak Hulu amounting 36 students. The results of this study were valid, practical, and effective problem-based modules for eighth-grade students for learning drama scripts writing. It was also evidenced by the value of module validity of 91.41% with very valid criteria. The module practicality value was 83.82% with very practical criteria, while module practicality by students was 78.27% with practical criteria. Additionally, the effectiveness of the module consists of students’ evaluating the overall activity was 88.33% with very high criteria or very successful. On the other hand, the overall assessment of drama script writing was 84.04 with good qualifications.

Abstract

Banyak anak yang masih kurang menguasai bahasa, dan masih banyak anak yang pengucapannya kurang tepat, padahal mereka sudah berusia empat tahun. Faktor lingkungan dan bimbingan orang tua menyebabkan masalah ini. Penelitian ini menjelaskan tentang akuisisi morfologi Nadira dan mengikuti PAUD Sahira Kota Pekanbaru Provinsi Riau. Permasalahan dalam penelitian ini adalah bagaimana perkembangan pemerolehan morfologi bahasa anak usia empat tahun dilihat dari bentuk kata dan turunan kata yang digunakan anak dalam percakapan sehari-hari. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada anak usia empat tahun. Data penelitian ini berupa kata-kata yang diucapkan oleh salah satu subjek penelitian. Subjek penelitian ini adalah Nadira Pratami yang menempuh pendidikan di PAUD Sahira Kota Pekanbaru, Riau. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini adalah teknik sadap, teknik menyimak yang menarik, teknik merekam dan teknik mencatat. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan: Pertama, penguasaan bahasa anak usia empat tahun, dilihat dari kosakata dan pengucapan kata, sudah baik. Hal ini terlihat dari banyaknya kosakata yang dikuasai subjek penelitian. Kedua, derivasi kata yaitu penggunaan afiksasi (imbuhan) pada subjek penelitian secara keseluruhan, baik saat melakukan percakapan dan kata turunan reduplikasi kata pada subjek penelitian dalam pemerolehan bahasa secara keseluruhan juga baik. Namun masih terdapat kesalahan dalam pengucapan. teknik merekam dan teknik mencatat. Abstract

Communicating activities in everyday life must pay attention to aspects such as the interlocutor, the context of the conversation, and the place and time of the speaking activity. To make sentences effective and efficient, speakers can use deixis in communicating. Deixis is a word that moves depending on who is speaking and the context of the conversation. The use of deixis can be helpful in direct or verbal and indirect or written communication activities. Examples of indirect communication can be realized in literary works like novels. The researcher chose the novel Muara Rasa as the subject in connection with the research to be conducted. The research objective is to describe the types, forms, and functions of persona deixis used in the Muara Rasa novel by Devania Annesya and the use of persona deixis in the novel “Muara Rasa by Devania Annesya learning Indonesian in junior high school class IX. The data in this study are dialogues containing persona deixis in the novel Muara Rasa by Devania Annesya, which was published in December 2015 with 186 pages. The data analysis technique used in this research is the matching method. Based on the research that researchers have done in the novel Muara Rasa. Three types of personal deixis are used in the novel Muara Rasa: the first-person deixis, the second-person deixis, and the third-person deixis. Judging from its shape, the form of persona deixis found in the novel Muara Rasa, is the first single form of persona deixis, namely the form of me, with 244 uses. The form of the first persona deixis is plural, i.e., our form has 40 usages, and ours has 13 usages. The form of the second persona deixis is singular, the form of you as many as 179 uses. The second form of persona deixis is plural; your form has 27 uses. The form of third person singular deixis is the form of dia as many as 57

Abstract

A child's mastery of a language begins with the acquisition of the first language, which is often called the mother tongue. Apart from the mother tongue, which plays a role in children's language acquisition, the language of teachers at school also plays a role in the development of children's language acquisition and learning. In schools, language use is a reality of teacher-student communication interactions that take place in teaching and learning activities. The teacher's use of language with students in conversations in class, especially the teacher's speech, Speech acts are speech events because they involve parties speaking in certain situations and places. These two symptoms occur in one process, namely the communication process. The teacher's speech acts referred to in this research are directive speech acts. Directive speech acts have an important role in children's language acquisition because they are carried out by the speaker with the intention that the listener performs the action mentioned in the speech. This research aims to (1) describe the forms of directive speech acts used by teachers in the teaching and learning process in language acquisition for 4-year-old children at EBTA Paud and (2) describe teachers' directive speech strategies in the teaching and learning process at EBTA Paud. The data source in this research is the speeches of teachers who teach at EBTA Early Childhood Education. The data collection techniques used in this research are recording techniques and note-taking techniques. The results of the research found that the use of speech acts in the form of directive speech in the teaching and learning process by teachers at EBTA Early Childhood Education was orders, requests, or hopes, suggesting, advising, and challenging. There are two speaking strategies used by teachers in the teaching and learning process at Paud EBTA, namely the strategy of speaking frankly without preamble and the strategy of speaking frankly with positive politeness.

Abstract

Discourse is the highest form at the linguistic level. Discourse is formed from several paragraphs and drives the language functions contained therein. Good discourse is discourse that pays attention to the relationships between sentences so that coherence can be maintained. Therefore, consistency of meaning and cleanliness of the form of written discourse is one of the key factors that increases the readability factor. Good and complete discourse must be seen in terms of the cohesion and consistency of the discourse produced. This research aims to describe the use of cohesion and coherence in forming the integrity of the popular news discourse of the online newspaper go.riau.com. This study used descriptive qualitative method. The data source in this research is discourse in the popular online newspaper go.riau.com. The discourses chosen are 6 discourses and the research data is in the form of fragments of news discourse that contain cohesion and coherence. Research data was collected using documentation techniques. Based on the research results, there are markers of cohesion and coherence. Cohesion markers can be divided into two, namely grammatical cohesion and lexical cohesion. Grammatical cohesion markers were found in 41 research data and lexical cohesion markers were found in 22 data. Coherence markers in this research were found in 34 research data

Abstract

Program pengabdian ini bertujuan meningkatkan keterampilan menulis cerpen anak-anak di Panti Asuhan Fajar Harapan melalui media audiovisual. Berdasarkan hasil observasi awal, ditemukan bahwa kemampuan menulis cerpen anak-anak tergolong rendah, khususnya dalam struktur cerita, penggambaran karakter, diksi, dan kreativitas. Metode yang digunakan meliputi tahapan observasi kebutuhan, perencanaan program, penyediaan media audiovisual, pelaksanaan kegiatan, pendampingan intensif, dan evaluasi. Media audiovisual seperti film pendek dan animasi digunakan untuk merangsang imajinasi anak-anak, memperkenalkan struktur cerita, dan meningkatkan motivasi belajar.Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan pada aspek keterampilan menulis, dengan rata-rata nilai post-test mencapai 79,5, dibandingkan dengan nilai pre-test sebesar 53. Peningkatan terbesar terlihat pada aspek kreativitas, dengan kenaikan hingga 88,9%. Anak-anak mampu menghasilkan cerpen dengan alur cerita yang runtut, karakter yang lebih hidup, dan ide yang orisinal. Selain itu, program ini berhasil menciptakan suasana belajar yang interaktif, meningkatkan kepercayaan diri, dan mengasah kemampuan berpikir kritis serta kolaborasi.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the impact of using audiovisual media and picture series on students' short story writing skills. The study is motivated by the low interest and motivation among students in writing, as well as their difficulties in generating ideas, composing cohesive sentences, and using engaging language. A quasi-experimental approach was employed, involving two experimental groups: one group learned using audiovisual media, while the other used picture series. Data on writing skills were collected through performance tests conducted before and after the treatment. The results showed that students who learned using audiovisual media achieved higher average scores in writing skills compared to those who used picture series. Audiovisual media proved to be more effective in helping students express ideas, structure stories, and use more engaging language. Additionally, the study identified an interaction between the type of learning media and students' initial writing abilities, with audiovisual media showing significant benefits for both high- and low-ability students. These findings highlight the importance of selecting appropriate learning media to enhance students' motivation and writing skills. Teachers are encouraged to utilize audiovisual media as an alternative in teaching short story writing to create a more engaging and effective learning environment.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan literasi konsumen dan keterampilan pelaku usaha dalam menggunakan bahasa promosi yang efektif untuk mendukung peningkatan penjualan produk elektronik di Toko Laptop Reseller Pekanbaru. Permasalahan utama yang diidentifikasi adalah masih rendahnya kemampuan pelaku usaha dalam menyusun narasi promosi yang komunikatif dan menarik, serta kurangnya pemahaman konsumen terhadap pesan-pesan promosi yang disampaikan. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini adalah pendekatan partisipatif melalui pelatihan interaktif, diskusi kelompok, pre-test dan post-test, serta praktik penyusunan konten promosi. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan dalam pemahaman peserta terhadap teknik bahasa promosi dan literasi konsumen, yang ditandai dengan rata-rata peningkatan skor post-test sebesar 40%. Selain itu, pelaku usaha juga mulai menunjukkan perubahan dalam menyusun konten promosi yang lebih persuasif dan responsif terhadap kebutuhan audiens. Kegiatan ini membuktikan bahwa edukasi literasi konsumen yang dibarengi dengan pelatihan bahasa promosi mampu meningkatkan efektivitas komunikasi pemasaran dan memperkuat hubungan antara pelaku usaha dengan konsumen. Kegiatan ini juga memberikan kontribusi terhadap praktik komunikasi bisnis UMKM yang lebih strategis dan berkelanjutan.
