Abstract

Research shows that a company's greatness is usually determined by mostly 30% of employees, particularly those in the strategic position. In an insurance company, such a position is an underwriter. The insurance company that becomes the object of this research is PT Asuransi Candi Utama. This research uses qualitative analysis as the research method, with the data from interviews, documents, and literature studies. According to the research results, PT Asuransi Candi Utama needs improvements in its recruitment and selection system for underwriters. Recommendations for improving the recruitment system are to add another variant of recruitment methods; as for the selection system, the improvements would include several variants of tests for both cognitive profiles and personality profiles, as well as to add criteria for interview tests. The results of this research can be observed for more research.

Abstract

Gig workers often face challenging work environments characterized by uncertain and unpredictable incomes, limited project opportunities, and unclear career paths. Despite these challenges, some gig workers succeed in moving from merely surviving to thriving in their work. While existing studies explore their struggles and resilience, the process that enables this transformation still needs to be explored, particularly in the context of Indonesia’s rapidly growing digital creative industry. Addressing this gap, this study aims to develop a model for thriving at work among gig workers in Indonesia’s digital creative industry. Using a quantitative approach, questionnaires were purposively distributed to 333 gig workers. Data analysis using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) revealed several key findings. Job demands directly influenced coping strategies, and psychological capital directly impacted goal setting. Both psychological capital and goal setting significantly influenced thriving at work, with goal setting mediating the relationship between psychological capital and thriving. However, job demands and coping strategies had no significant impact on thriving at work, nor did coping strategies mediate the relationship between job demands and thriving. These findings highlight that thriving in the gig economy relies more on internal resources like psychological capital and goal-setting skills, rather than external pressures such as job demands or coping mechanisms, emphasizing the need for personal development.

Abstract

PT Sumber Alfaria Trijaya Tbk is committed to providing equal employment opportunities to people with disabilities. This research aims to develop a recruitment and selection strategy for employees with disabilities at Alfamart as an inclusive company. The research method is descriptive qualitative. Primary data sources were obtained through interviews with PT Sumber Alfaria Trijaya Tb management team who understand the business direction and human resource management strategy of the company. Meanwhile, secondary data was collected through document study. The research results show that the strategic direction of the PT Sumber Alfaria Trijaya Tb organization is to become an open inclusion company for people with disabilities. Therefore, human resource management strategy must be derived from organizational strategy in a series of human resource management activities, especially starting from employee recruitment and selection activities. This research proposes a draft strategy for recruitment and selection of employees with disabilities at PT Sumber Alfaria Trijaya Tbk as an inclusion company through implementing a buy and make strategy for employees with disabilities, as well as collaborating with foundations and schools for people with disabilities to include a retail learning curriculum as an effort to reach more potential employees, as well as improving methods for selecting disabled employees and developing the business technology-based selection process. Finally, this research also provides practical and academic suggestions.

Abstract

Makrame adalah kerajinan dalam bentuk simpul tali. Kerajinan Makrame/ simpul tali ini bermacam-macam seperti simpul pipih, kordon, kordon berganda dan simpul rantai. Kerajinan tangan yang dapat dibuat dengan teknik makrame adalah tas, dompet, asesoris, fashion, dan penghias interior tekstil lainnya. Hasil kerajinan makrame sangat unik dan memiliki nilai seni karena seluruh proses pengerjaannya dilakukan secara manual, pengulangan simpul dilakukan secara ber-ulang sehingga membentuk motif. Di Sumatera Barat khususnya di Padangpanjang teknik makrame ini belum banyak dikenal oleh masyarakat. Untuk memperkenalkan teknik makrame di tengah-tengah masyarakat dilakukan pelatihan bagi remaja putri putus sekolah di UPTD Dinas Sosial Bina Remaja Harapan Padangpanjang. Pelatihan ini bertujuan untuk menumbuhkan semangat jiwa usaha bagi remaja putri dengan kemampuan atau skill yang mereka dapatkan setelah dilakukan pelatihan ini. Mampu membuat produk kerajinan tas, dompet, sarung HP, dan benda kerajinan lainnya dengan teknik makrame. Pelatihan ini dilakukan dengan beberapa metode yaitu penyampaian materi dasar tentang kerajinan makrame dengan cara persentasi dan diskusi. Memberi contoh kerajinan makrame, dilanjutkan dengan praktek membuat tas. Selama pelatihan peserta dilatih dan didampingi oleh tim pengabdian. Peserta diajarkan berbagai macam simpul makrame sebagai dasar untuk membuat produk dengan teknik makrame.

Abstract

Abstract

The creative economy sector contributes to the national gross domestic product. However, creative economy workers face precarious working conditions. So far, adequate research is needed on the success of creative sector gig workers who utilize online labour markets (OLMs) to interact with clients. This research aims to build a model that can describe the moderating role of individual intellectual capital on the relationship between job resources and digital creative gig workers' success. Survey data was collected from 197 gig creative digital workers. The statistical analysis was conducted with SmartPLS 4.0. The results of this study show that job demands have a negative and significant effect on the success of gig workers, job autonomy does not have a substantial impact on the success of gig workers, individual intellectual capital has a positive and significant effect on the success of gig workers, individual intellectual capital as a moderating variable influences the relationship between job demands and success of gig workers, individual intellectual capital as a moderating variable does not significantly influence the relationship between job autonomy and success of gig workers. This research creates the basis for future investigations that examine the direct and indirect associations between the job demand-resource model, individual intellectual capital, and gig worker success. By applying the job demand-resource model equipped with individual intellectual capital, the article suggests that gig workers, policymakers, policy executors, and educators must focus on investing in gig workers' intellectual capital to improve the gig worker's well-being.

Abstract

Aktivitas mahasiswa kedokteran umumnya menggunakan kekuatan otot lengan bawah seperti menulis, mengetik, memegang, dan menggengam yang membutuhkan kekuatan otot yang baik. Kekuatan otot yang dibutuhkan untuk kegiatan tersebut adalah kekuatan otot isometrik. Obesitas dapat menyebabkan perubahan struktur jaringan otot yang berdampak terhadap kekuatan otot. Salah satu penyebab timbulnya obesitas adalah kurangnya aktivitas fisik akibat gaya hidup sedentary lifestyle. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh tingkat aktivitas fisik terhadap kekuatan isometrik otot lengan bawah mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Jenderal Achmad Yani penderita obesitas. Metode penelitian merupakan penelitian analitik dengan rancangan cross sectional. Sebanyak 64 orang mahasiswa yang memenuhi kriteria digunakan sebagai sampel penelitian dan dibagi dalam dua kelompok yaitu kelompok dengan aktivitas fisik rendah (n=33) dan kelompok dengan aktivitas fisik tinggi (n=31). Sampel penelitian didapatkan dengan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Untuk mengukur tingkat aktivitas fisik digunakan kuesioner ASAQ (Adolescent Sedentary Activity Questionnaire), perhitungan status gizi menggunakan rumus Indeks Massa Tubuh (IMT) sedangkan berat badan dan tinggi badan diukur menggunakan timbangan dan microtoise yang sudah dikalibrasi, pengukuran kekuatan otot lengan bawah menggunakan hand grip dynamometer. Analisis data disajikan dalam bentuk univariat dan bivariat. Untuk mengetahui perbedaan kekuatan otot antar kelompok penelitian digunakan Uji chi square. Data deskriptif menunjukkan 51,6% mahasiswa memiliki tingkat aktivitas fisik yang rendah, 51,5% memiliki kekuatan otot lengan bawah dengan kategori lemah. Hasil uji statistik menunjukkan terdapat pengaruh tingkat aktivitas fisik terhadap kekuatan otot lengan bawah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pada mahasiswa kedokteran penderita obesitas dan memiliki tingkat aktivitas fisik yang rendah dapat berdampak pada penurunan kekuatan otot. Abstract

Data shows that millennial generation workers in Indonesia are ranked second in the Asia Pacific region who plan to resign from their jobs in the future, so organizations need to understand the variables that influence the retention of these millennial employees. This research aims to identify the influence of work flexibility and non-financial compensation on employee retention of millennial generation employees in DKI Jakarta. Data collection was carried out at convenience for 145 respondents. The analytical method used in this research was descriptive statistic and multilinear regression using JASP software. The results of this research show that there is a positive and significant influence of work flexibility and non-financial compensation on employee retention of the millennial generation in DKI Jakarta. Thus, organizations should provide opportunities for employees to arrange the time and location for completing work if they are unable to attend the office, as well as providing an allowance to work outside the office every week. Apart from that, it is also necessary to consider providing non-financial compensation to employees in the form of social support, recognition for achievements, providing work challenges, and giving trust as an effort to retain their millennial generation employees.
