Abstract

The choice of college major is an important decision that each prospective student must take. In the decision-making process, a genuinely accurate source of information is usually needed to avoid mistakes for prospective students when determining the college major they will take. This study implemented the certainty factor method in a website-based college central recommendation expert system to minimize and avoid these mistakes. This study uses the certainty factor method to calculate the level of confidence and uncertainty of each recommendation result given by the expert system. This system will use predetermined rules to connect input and output to provide results that match the input from the user. Based on this process, prospective students will then obtain the appropriate college major recommendation results; in this study, the recommendations are based on the types of intelligence. This study aims to help solve existing problems by building an expert system to provide colleges with significant recommendations and by implementing the certainty factor method to determine the output results of recommendations from the system. This study produces a "College Major Recommendation Expert System (SIPAREK)" to help determine college majors that suit each interest to minimize the risk of mistakes in choosing a college major. In this study, the accuracy value of the recommendation results by applying the certainty factor method was 80%; from this value, it can be concluded that the certainty factor method can work well to provide recommendations for college majors in the system created.

Abstract

The rise of electronic technology has transformed people's lifestyles, and they now want convenience, automation, and flexibility, including when it comes to keeping the environment clean by disposing of rubbish where it belongs. However, despite the importance of this issue, awareness of the need to dispose of waste in its proper place remains low. Additionally, garbage bin supervision in Kuripan Village is still manual, exacerbating the problem of waste accumulation caused by the increasing population. To address this issue, we developed an IoT-based system that utilizes the Fuzzy Logic method. This mathematical approach enables the modeling of uncertainty in data processing. The system allows for real-time monitoring of the garbage load level, notifying staff when action is required. The Fuzzy Logic method is then used to determine the appropriate action based on the garbage load level and the last cleaning time. This research involves developing a prototype that uses NodeMCU ESP8266, HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensor, and LCD for data monitoring. The sensor testing demonstrated an accuracy of approximately 96.7%. The system includes an application interface with a login page, main dashboard, volume dashboard, and time dashboard.

Abstract

One of the data collection methods employed in monitoring and evaluation is a survey. The advantages of information technology-based surveys include a reduced risk of data loss and the ability to access the survey system from any location. Consequently, it is imperative to devise a web-based monitoring and evaluation system. In this study, the monitoring and evaluation system was developed using an Agile methodology and implementing automation testing. The Agile development method was utilized to create this application through the stages of design, development, testing, deployment, and feedback. The system was developed using the PHP programming language and the MySQL database. Automation testing was conducted using Katalon Studio. The design and implementation of the web-based SIMPATI application resulted in a system capable of monitoring and evaluating higher education with main features such as multi-user support, online surveys, a real-time database, and data visualization. Automation testing using Katalon Studio demonstrated that all features in the system run well and are stable. However, there is a discrepancy in the execution time for each test case. This discrepancy is attributed to the intricacy of the test cases and external factors such as system load, server performance, and network conditions. The fastest execution time for the login feature is 11 seconds, while the longest execution time for the add new user feature is 4 minutes and 29 seconds. In conclusion, automation testing in web-based system development employing agile methods can assist in the rapid and repeatable evaluation of system performance.

Abstract

Earthquakes in Cilacap often occur with a strength above 5 SR or with a smaller strength. This condition means that earthquake research in the Cilacap area will always be needed. This study aims to display a visualization of the time series of earthquakes in the Cilacap area using QGIS and the USGS dataset. The data set used is the earthquake data set around the Cilacap area from USGS with a time span from 1918 to 2021. The data boundaries of this study are Latitude 7.324˚, Longitude 107.941˚, and Latitude -10.407˚, Longitude 111.116˚. The results of spatial data visualization using the heatmap technique are then analyzed temporally using the Temporal function in the QGIS software. The results of the temporal analysis with frames per year produce 104 frames. Visualization of earthquake data in a time series can show changes in the pattern of earthquake magnitude density and show changes in the geographical location of earthquake points from year to year.

Abstract

Halal Network International (HNI) products already have around 100 products which are divided into three categories, namely Herbs Products, Health Food & Beverages, and Cosmetics & Home Care. These products are published through an electronic catalog that provides product information and search features to facilitate users. The mismatch between keywords and product descriptions causes the search to fail to display relevant results. To overcome this problem, the Term Frequency-Inverse Document Frequency (TF-IDF) algorithm is implemented in the search feature. This algorithm is used to calculate the weight of each word in the product description and determine the relevance of the keywords entered by the user. The system is built with React.js framework on the frontend, Node.js on the backend, and PostgreSQL as the database. Based on the test results, the average precision value is 71%, recall 85% and accuracy 73%. These results show that the TF-IDF algorithm is effective in improving the relevance of product search results.
