Abstract

This article investigates a pedagogical interference in promoting creativity   in  English  classroom  that  describe  the  importance  of  creativity  in  learning process. The article explores the idea of passion-based learning in improving creativity in the classroom specially in English subject. By using secondary data both  from  journals,  books,  and  internet  sites,  researcher  is  able  to  apply descriptive analysis through literary review methods. Promoting passion-based learning might be a possible way to improve creativity in English Classroom. Passion-based learning could be a solution that give ownership and authority to students to explore their own creativity in the classroom hence give them meaningful  learning.  Some  tangible  ways  in  this  article  could  be  applied  by English teachers to create passion-based learning in English classroom that can improve the students? reading, listening, speaking and writing skill and creativity. The emerging challenge found in this study is passion-based learning is difficult to apply in large class since it gives freedom to students choose what they want to learn hence classroom activities will not be feasible to control. Besides, passion- based learning needs creative and skilful teachers to come up with various and interesting ideas to stimulate dynamic in classroom.  Therefore, the quality of teacher is highly considered in applying passion-based learning. Teachers should be expert in subjects they teach. Promoting teacher professional development need to be considered to improve creativity in English classroom with given English teachers? opportunities to explore their potentials.

Abstract

Task-based language teaching (TBLT) has exceedingly been written in many research reports but research examining the impacts of TBLT on student’s reading comprehension remains limited. Recent studies indicate that TBLT is promoting real communication or the exchange of meanings rather than forms. The reading intention is to excerpt meaning from text by developing the literal, inferential and extrapolative comprehension of readers, and this depends upon both decoding and language comprehension skills. Recently there has been growing interest in developing students’ ability to read comprehensibly in a classroom situation. One way to develop students’ reading ability is by committing Task-Based Language Teaching in teaching reading. This article explores the impacts of TBLT on three levels of students’ reading comprehension, literal, inferential and extrapolative comprehension. This research employed the quasi-experimental method involving fifth-semester students of Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Kesehatan Panakukang Makassar. The instruments were reading tests and questionnaires. The data from reading tests were used to figure out the effect of TBLT on students’ reading comprehension (literal, inferential, and extrapolative comprehension) by using a t-test while the data from questionnaires were to figure out the students’ motivation. The findings revealed that TBLT has an impact on students reading comprehension. Sequentially, the most evolving level of comprehension was inferential, extrapolative, literal comprehension. Moreover, the result of a questionnaire displayed that the students who were taught through TBLT became more motivated to read in the domain of reading efficacy, reading curiosity, and reading challenge motivation

Abstract

Kalindaqdaq is a famous oral literature in Mandarese Community in West Sulawesi. This research focused on Kalindaqdaq Masala which is themed on religion. Descriptive qualitative approach is used in this research to find out the Islamic Values in Kalindaqdaq Masala. There were 6 data which have been analized. The data showed that the order to perform Shalah in Islam is clearly implied in Kalindaqdaq Masala. This Research also showed that Kalindaqdaq Masala used as a media to spread the Islamic Values in West Sulawesi.

Abstract

This research discussed about translating cultural taboo words Get Hard movie. The aim of this research is to explain the translation strategies of taboo words. This research focused on Batistella’s theory about types of taboo words that are Epithet, Profanity, Vulgarity, and Obscenity, and Karjalainen’s theory about motives of using taboo words that are Psychological motive, Linguistic motive and Social motive. This research applied descriptive qualitative method in revealing data. In collecting the data, the rsearcher used note taking as instrument in order to get the valid data. As the result of the research, it was found there were four types of taboo words and three motives of using taboo words in Get Hard movie. The most common types and motives of using taboo words in Get Hard movie is Epithets and Psychological motive.

Abstract

This research aims to see the implementation of WhatsApp media in EFL Classroom. Researcher used qualitative descriptive data collection through observation to see the learning process that took place in WhatsApp group, then interviewed students and teacher, and finally documentation. Data analysis techniques in this research are data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. From the research results, it can be seen that the learning process is divided into three stages, namely: 1) Planning, 2) Implementation which is divided into three stages, namely: opening, core and closing activities and 3) evaluation. In this case, students can still participate in the learning process using WhatsApp group and easily accessible, save quota and also have various features that teacher can choose to use in the learning process such as WhatsApp groups, chat messages, document files, videos or photos. In addition, there are still obstacles that faced by teacher and students such as teacher cannot observe directly, learning is not optimal, poor internet network, full cellphone memory or lack of understanding of the material.

Abstract

This research aims to develop instuctional modul of core principles of EFL Material dealing with English Education Program curriculum at Tarbiyah and Teacher Traning Faculty of STAIN Majene. This research conducted a Research and Development (R&D) by using ADDIE Model. The subject of this research was core principles of EFL Material dealing with English Education Program curriculum of Tadris Bahasa Inggris STAIN Majene. The data of this research were collected and analyzed in proccess of development through   Model.The result of the research reveal that the the developing of core principles in ELT class was needed by student. The ADDIE Model can really help the lecturer to develope material for teaching. This research has been trying to develop Core Principle of English Languge Teaching materials in the STAIN Majene which consists of Language Components in English Language Teaching; Methods and Approaches in Language Teaching; and Evaluation and Assessment on Language Teaching which divided into some subtopics which are Language Components covering Elements of Language and Language Skills, then Methods and Approaches in Language Teaching covering The Development of Methods and Approaches of Language Teaching in the world; Kinds of Methods and Approaches in Language Teaching; and Current Methods and Approach in Language Teaching. Evaluation and Assessment on Language Teaching covering The Introduction of Measurement in Language Teaching; and Constructing Evaluation and Assessment Tools in Language Teaching.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Sekolah Kebangsaan merupakan program pembelajaran berbasis proyek yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan literasi digital dan kesadaran demokrasi mahasiswa melalui keterlibatan aktif dalam isu-isu kebangsaan. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan oleh Program Studi Tadris Bahasa Inggris STAIN Majene sebagai bagian dari mata kuliah Digital Literacy yang diprogram oleh mahasiswa semester 3 angkatan 2022. Kegiatan diawali dengan penyampaian materi oleh Badan Pengawas Pemilihan Umum Kabupaten Majene terkait tahapan pemilihan umum dan dinamika hoaks menjelang pemilu. Untuk mengevaluasi pemahaman peserta, panitia mengadakan kuis interaktif. Peserta dibagi menjadi 10 kelompok untuk mengikuti diskusi dan microteaching yang dipandu oleh fasilitator. Kegiatan ini diikuti oleh 127 peserta, terdiri dari 42 mahasiswa Tadris Bahasa Inggris, 35 Pendidikan Agama Islam, 23 Pendidikan Guru Madrasah Ibtidaiyah, dan 27 Bimbingan Konseling Pendidikan Islam. Setiap kelompok menunjukkan partisipasi aktif dalam memahami isu hoaks dan peran mereka sebagai pemilih cerdas. Hal ini ditunjukkan dengan berbagai pertanyaan dan jawaban kritis yang diajukan oleh mahasiswa. Diskusi kelompok mendorong pemikiran kritis, sedangkan sesi microteaching memperkuat kemampuan menyampaikan kembali materi. Kegiatan ini memperlihatkan keterkaitan antara teori literasi digital dan praktik pemberdayaan mahasiswa melalui pendekatan partisipatif dan kolaboratif. Temuan kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa pelibatan mahasiswa lintas prodi dapat memperkuat pemahaman kolektif tentang literasi informasi dan membangun kesadaran kebangsaan. Kegiatan ini menjadi bukti bahwa pendidikan berbasis proyek mampu menciptakan ruang belajar yang bermakna dan relevan dengan konteks sosial. Kata kunci: Sekolah Kebangsaan, Literasi Digital, Hoaks.
