Abstract

Hierarchical organizational frameworks. Such models are particularly vulnerable to the reality of spiritual degradation among both church leaders and congregations. In contrast, within a Pentecostal pneumatological perspective, leadership is understood as a manifestation of the Holy Spirit’s work, which is dynamic, active, inclusive, and transformative within the society, it cannot be separated from the spirituality of the Holy Spirit itself. This article aims to identify the relevance of the pneumatocratic leadership model, which positions the work of the Holy Spirit at the center of ecclesial leadership as the primary driving force across various aspects of life, with universal implications for society in the contemporary era. Utilizing a library research method, this article analyzes the characteristics and implications of pneumatocratic leadership as a transformational leadership model. The superiority of this pneumatological model lies in its charismatic, gift-based leadership within the church and the broader contemporare society. This article demonstrates that the pneumatocratic leadership model does not rely solely on structural power but is grounded in the guidance of the Holy Spirit, whose implications extend universally. Therefore, pneumatocratic leadership offers an alternative paradigm that is highly relevant for both the church and contemporary society in addressing the holistic challenges of pluralism, secularism, and the dynamics of global contemporare development.

Abstract

The role-modeling crisis among young people motivates this study to explore how Pentecostal church leadership can effectively engage Generation Z (Gen Z), a demographic known for valuing authenticity, empathy, and relational depth. With Gen Z increasingly present in faith communities, especially among university students, the research investigates how Pentecostal leadership values align with their spiritual and emotional needs. Using a qualitative method, this study combines a literature review with in-depth interviews with six Gen Z members from a Pentecostal church in Yogyakarta. The findings reveal that Gen Z resonates deeply with Spirit-led, inclusive, adaptive, and relational leadership. Respondents emphasized the importance of empathetic leaders who are present in real life and exhibit integrity and humility. They appreciated leadership that empowers participation, respects their individuality, and communicates spiritual truths in relevant ways. The study concludes that effective Pentecostal leadership for Gen Z must move beyond traditional authority-based models to embrace relational ministry grounded in spiritual authenticity. Such an approach not only nurtures personal growth but also fosters lasting engagement and discipleship within the church

Abstract

Authority is always attached to a leader, including church leaders. However, the problem is that there are some leaders who abuse authority for their own interests. There are also other leaders who cannot use an authority in determining doctrinal and ethical matters. Therefore, this study aims to explain the authority of the disciples to bind and release the law in Matthew 16:19 and its implications for today's church leaders. This research method is qualitative with a hermeneutic approach based on a literature study. The results of the study show that the authority was given by God to expand His kingdom on earth so church leaders must use this gift for His glory and improve the quality of the congregation that God has entrusted to him.

Abstract

Marriage is a conscious choice and becomes one of the essential things in the journey of human life. Therefore, every couple who decides to start a household life brings their own needs, desires and aspirations, including the desire to have children. But the problem is there are married couples who are not blessed with children. If this is related to Christian marriage, how does the Christian faith respond to it? This paper explores the command to be fruitful and multiply in Genesis 1: 28. The method used is hermeneutic with a socio-historical approach to look at the text's origins so that the text's application is in accordance with the context. The results of the study show that the background of Genesis 1: 28 cannot be separated from the events of the life of the Jewish nation (Israel) when they had just returned from exile supported by the Persian empire. As leaders, the priests of Zadok needed many descendants to retrieve inherited land, manage land to revive the economy and pay taxes for the benefit of the lives of the Zadok priests and servants in the temple cult. Based on this, the purpose of Christian marriage is not for that, so physical offspring in Christian marriage is not absolute. The physical birth of offspring in a Christian marriage is a divine mystery. Therefore, a Christian couple with no heart need not feel guilty, let alone think they did not fulfil the commandment in Genesis 1: 28.

Abstract

Abstract

This study examines the institutional attitudes of Pentecostal churches in Indonesia toward human trafficking as a crime against humanity within the context of Indonesia’s religiously plural society. Situating a minority Christian denomination within majority-Muslim Java and majority-Hindu Bali, the study adopts a quantitative cross-sectional survey design involving 106 respondents—church leaders and operational actors—across five provinces: DKI Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, East Java, and Bali. Five key dimensions were measured: theological framing, church policies, operational engagement, collaboration with external stakeholders (including interreligious organizations), and gender-sensitive approaches. The analysis revealed significant provincial variation, with churches in Central Java demonstrating more organized and mature responses than those in East Java, a difference interpreted in light of each region’s distinct socio-religious dynamics. Drawing on legal pluralism, covenantal pluralism, and institutional isomorphism theory, the study reads these variations as products of inter-normative interaction among state anti-trafficking law (notably Law No. 21/2007), international human-rights norms, and the Islamic and Hindu normative orders within which the churches operate. Crucially, the study explores how interfaith cooperation with Muslim and Hindu institutions, as well as with state agencies, can optimize church responses to human trafficking. The findings are relevant to SDG 5 (Gender Equality), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions). This study contributes to understanding how Pentecostal churches, as minority religious actors in a plural society, conceptualize and respond to human trafficking and provides evidence-based recommendations for strengthening interfaith collaboration, church policies, and anti-trafficking actions in plural Indonesia.
