This study therefore assessed the undergraduate students’ proficiency’ level of utilizing social media for learning in Nigeria. The study employed the quantitative research method. Four hundred and fifty (450) respondents were randomly sampled across universities in Nigeria on which a structured questionnaire was administered on the students. The research questions were answered using mean, while t-test statistic was used to test the two hypotheses. Results of the research revealed that the proficiency level of undergraduates on the utilization of social media for learning was high and there was no significant difference between male and female undergraduates' utilization and undergraduates' proficiency towards the utilization of social media for learning. The study concluded that undergraduate students have good proficiency level on the utilization of social media for learning.

Abstract

Study technology is a student-centered learning technique that helps the learner to study successfully by providing solutions to all barricades come upon in the progression of studying. This study designed a model on study technology with the barriers that hinder students from studying effectively, the psychological reactions as well as the solutions to the barriers. The study is a position paper which directs the author to review some materials. The findings established that the major barriers to successful study are absence of mass, misunderstood words, obscurity and skipping gradient. In addition, the proffered solutions to the barriers include use of learning materials, use of dictionary, applying mnemonics and adopting a systematic learning style. The study concluded that with study technology, 100% performance is achievable. It was however recommended that students at all levels should assist themselves by adopting the study technology principles.

Abstract

This study investigated the effect of Facebook-based learning on the students’ academic performance. The study was a quasi-experimental using pre-test, post-test design which used for data collection from 30 colleges of education students forming the sample for the study. The performance test comprises of two different sets of objective questions. Multiple choice and completion test responses. The reliability coefficient of 0.75 was obtained from Kuder-Richardson (KR-20) formula for the multiple-choice test and Split-half reliability statistic was used to determine the reliability coefficient of the completion test responses which yielded 0.76. The research questions were answered using mean and standard deviation while paired sample t-test was used to test hypothesis 1 and independent sample t-test was used to test hypothesis 2.  The findings of the study showed that there was a significant difference in the pretest and posttest performance of the Facebook-based group; and there was no significant difference in the performance of male and female students exposed to Facebook-based learning. The study concluded that the performance of the colleges of education students was enhanced when they are exposed to Facebook-based teaching methodology. It was recommended that colleges of education lecturers should be encouraged to adopt Facebook-based as an instructional strategy.

Abstract

Technology has gained importance in all stages of education, yet educators have been unable to figure out which of the many available technological tools best fit their classroom practices. Google Classroom is one such tool that is free of cost and has gained popularity quickly. This study investigates the perceived use of google classroom among science and education lecturers and their relationship. This study, which uses the questionnaire method, consists of 150 lecturers who have implemented Google Classroom for at least one semester in their classroom. Findings revealed that lecturers positively perceive Google Classroom if all the necessary resources and environments are implemented. It has a user-friendly interface, and it saves time tremendously. It concludes that google classroom has a long-term future in instruction at the university of Ilorin provided the application keeps upgrading to meet user needs. This implies that adequate access to the internet and intelligent digital tools are the major drawbacks to the use of google classroom. It was, however, recommended that if deliberate efforts are channeled towards internet connectivity and availability of useable computers, it would go a great length

Abstract

The environment which students engage in academic activities need to be reviewed to be up to the standard which students learning would not be jeopardized. Class size determines the number of students in a particular class. This study aims to analyze the influence of class size on student success in learning of English language and the relationship that existed between class size and their students’ academic performance in English Language. This study was an experimental study and harness if students’ achievement in English language correlates with their teachers’ quality. 200 English language students were sampled across schools. The statistical analysis used in the study was the mean, standard deviation and PPMC. The findings established that there was significant influence of class size on student success in learning of English language. The study concluded that the larger the number of students in class, the better the academic success of students in English language. It was however recommended that an average class size as recommended by the National Education scheme/board Commission be adhered to in Nigerian schools.

Abstract

The purpose of this study: (i) determine the effect of blended learning on the students’ academic performance; (ii) determine the effect of gender on students’ performance taught using blended learning.  The study used a quasi-experimental method (30 students), employing a pre-test, post-test design. There are two sets of objective questions in the performance test. The Kuder-Richardson (KR-20) calculation provided a reliability coefficient of 0.75 for the multiple-choice test, while the Split-half reliability statistic yielded a reliability coefficient of 0.76 for the complete test replies.  Research questions were answered using the mean and standard deviation while paired sample t-test was used to test hypothesis 1 and independent sample t-test was used to test hypothesis 2.  The results of the study revealed a significant difference in the blended learning group's pretest and posttest performance (df=29; t=30.10; p0.05) in favor of the posttest performance. The performance of male and female students exposed to Blended learning did not differ significantly.  The study found that when students in institutes of education are exposed to blended learning teaching methodologies, their performance improves. This research has significant implications for educational technology teaching practices. It was suggested that professors in institutions of education be encouraged to use blended learning as an instructional technique.
