Abstract

Artikel ini membahas mengenai dampak depresi ekonomi dan tingkat kepercayaan rakyat atas kebijakan pemerintah kolonial yang berkaitan dengan penyelesaian masalah dampak tersebut.  Metode yang digunakan adalah metode sejarah yang terdiri dari heuristik, kritik sumber, interpretasi, dan historiografi. Depresi ekonomi tahun 1930an merupakan peristiwa kompleks yang tidak hanya berdampak pada perekonomian Hindia Belanda. Dalam hal ini, relasi antara pemerintah kolonial dan rakyat menjadi menarik ketika pemerintah berusaha mengatasi masalah dengan kebijakan campur tangan. Depresi ekonomi yang dipicu oleh faktor eksternal dan diperparah oleh faktor internal karena kelebihan produksi berdampak pada merosotnya perekonomian Hindia Belanda. Dampak tersebut menghantam bidang usaha yang digerakan oleh bangsa Eropa dan bumiputra. Penghematan yang dilakukan oleh pemerintah kolonial dan perusahaan swasta menimbulkan peningkatan pengangguran, kemiskinan, dan kriminalitas. Sikap diskriminatif pemerintah kolonial pun menjadi salah satu faktor pemicu respon keras bumiputra. Puncaknya  yaitu melakukan gerakan protes melalui serikat buruh dan organisasi pergerakan. Krisis kepercayaan rakyat terhadap pemerintah kolonial muncul karena ketidakmampuan pemerintah kolonial mengatasi masalah selama masa depresi ekonomi secara proporsional.

Abstract

This research aimed to find out the condition of Regentschap Pemalang during the economic depression and the community's efforts to overcome the effects of the economic depression. This research used the historical method. The results of this research indicated that Regentschap Pemalang in the 1930s was an area affected by the economic depression. The establishment of sugar factories and plantations connected to international trade was one of the strong reasons for Regentschap Pemalang to become an area affected by the economic depression. The increase in unemployment and poverty during the 1930s occurred in Regentschap Pemalang due to workers’ dismissal, exacerbated by disease outbreaks and increased crime. Efforts made by the community to overcome these problems were by holding charitable activities, including charity night markets, charity football matches, and free food distribution.Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kondisi Regentschap Pemalang pada masa depresi ekonomi dan usaha masyarakat mengatasi dampak depresi ekonomi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode sejarah dengan tahapan heuristik, kritik sumber, interpretasi, dan historiografi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa Regentschap Pemalang pada tahun 1930-an merupakan daerah terdampak depresi ekonomi. Berdirinya pabrik gula dan perkebunan yang terkoneksi dengan perdagangan internasional menjadi salah satu alasan kuat Regentschap Pemalang menjadi daerah terdampak depresi ekonomi. Peningkatan pengangguran dan kemiskinan selama tahun 1930-an terjadi di Regentschap Pemalang karena pemecatan buruh dan diperparah oleh munculnya wabah penyakit serta peningkatan kriminalitas. Usaha yang dilakukan oleh masyarakat untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut adalah dengan cara menggelar kegiatan amal, di antaranya melalui pasar malam amal, pertandingan sepak bola amal, dan pembagian makanan secara gratis.

Abstract

This research examined the dynamics of industrialization and its social impact on the inhabitants of the Regentschap Pemalang during the Dutch colonial period. Historical studies of industry still tend to focus on urban areas as the locus of research due to their role as industrial centers. However, industrialization also occurred in hinterland areas, including Regentschap Pemalang, which has so far received little scholarly attention. The method used in this research was the historical method. The findings showed that the Agrarian Law of 1870 and the Ethical Policy encouraged industrialization in the Dutch East Indies, reaching even rural or hinterland areas. Industrialization in Regentschap Pemalang, a hinterland region, is evidenced by the establishment of factories in rural areas located along the coast and in the highlands on the northern slopes of Mount Slamet. The development of industrialization had a broad impact on the lives of the people of Regentschap Pemalang, including increasingly intensive interactions between the indigenous population and Europeans, the formation of a capitalistic social structure, and the emergence of political awareness and a sense of nationalism among laborers.

Abstract

This article examines the impact of the Smallholder Cotton Intensification Program on the socio-economic lives of farmers in the Grobogan Regency during the New Order era. The background for implementing the Smallholder Cotton Intensification Program in Grobogan Regency was because the area was rainfed land and moor or dry rice fields, so it was very promising for the development of cotton in the area. The method used in compiling this article is the historical method which consists of four stages, namely heuristics, criticism, interpretation and historiography. Through this research, the fact was obtained that the implementation of the Smallholder Cotton Intensification Program in Grobogan Regency could be said to be successful because it was supported by several factors such as the type of land suitable for planting cotton, the planting area that was still available, the response of farmers who were willing to accept the presence of the program because they had felt the good results so that it was considered a commodity that could increase their income, as well as good coordination between the Grobogan Regency Plantation Service and the Plantations Limited Company of Indonesia (PT. Perkebunan, PTP) XVIII as the management in successing the implementation of the program. Thus, it can be concluded that the successful implementation of the Smallholder Cotton Intensification Program had influenced the socio-economic life of farmers in Grobogan Regency, such as the establishment of farmer groups, wider employment opportunities, and increasing amount of farmer incomes as well.

Abstract

This paper analyzes Mohammad Hatta's idea of modern Islamic education. Mohammad Hatta is not only known as a national figure and the first Indonesian vice president, but also a faithful, active individual in the field of Islamic education. He also expresses his idea regarding Islamic education in papers. Islamic education discourse still emerges as an important discussion topic today. This paper is the result of a qualitative study with literature review. The study aimed to discover Mohammad Hatta’s idea of modern Islamic education, which still emerges as a problem in today's Indonesian Islamic education. In this case, it is necessary to provide a representative, modern Islamic education in order to deliver ideal Muslim scholars. The study found that the construct of Mohammad Hatta’s idea on modern Islamic education was to create coherence between religion and modern science, comprising sociology, history, and philosophy. Such an idea is not merely an abstract, it was applied through the establishment of Sekolah Tinggi Islam (Islamic College) in 1945 as a modern Islamic higher education.

Abstract

The Deep Learning Curriculum, as the latest educational curriculum, focuses on the application of technology in classroom learning activities for school students, but not all teachers are proficient in its use and application. Therefore, this community service team aims to provide a solution to this problem by holding a workshop on creating historical video content for history teachers in Pemalang Regency. The method used consisted of four stages, namely: 1) observation and problem identification; 2) material preparation; 3) workshop implementation; 4) evaluation. The workshop was held offline at SMA Negeri 1 Bodeh, Pemalang Regency. In the workshop, participants were given an understanding of the local history of Pemalang, techniques for searching for historical sources digitally, types of historical documentary films, and techniques for making historical films based on video editing applications. The workshop results demonstrated that mastering the technological skills needed to create historical video content is crucial for history teachers. This can support the learning process and enhance students' digital literacy skills. Teachers' understanding of historical video content creation technology improved after participating in the workshop. This workshop supports the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education's program to improve understanding and skills in using technology.
